The creme de la creme with PhDs and extensive expertise in IT sector can be found in there. And, that is only one example. There are Biotech parks in Hyderabad where advanced R&D research is taking place in public+private collaboration. I am talking from Hyderabad's perspective alone since I am from that region.
oh yeah in India the 95% of the burgers dont have beef. They're either chicken or veggie burgers. In the Indian McDonalds they dont serve beef at all. Most western fast food outlets had to Indianise their menus a bit to survive in the market...that includes the likes of Dominos and Pizza Hut. Its only the coffee shops that have largely unchanged menus...Costa coffee etc

Both india and china pay huge emphasis on education (particularly maths and science), they are already established industrial giants, they have the largest populations, they are now 100% on the capitalism train, they have strong work ethics, growing numbers of English speakers and both are highly secular.

Chinese growth on the other hand is inorganic and stems from largely FDI and exporting, instead of domestic entrepreneurship, something they must fix

In 10 to 15 more years 70% of Indians will be middle class. which is 700 million+ in middle class group. America and the whole world will envy India in coming years. Indian industries are very well developed.The major problem here is poverty.200 years of colonial rule, leaves its scar forever. Poverty exists, not bcoz of lack of fund, but bcoz of the lack of passion of our politicians. In China, poverty is declining, coz corruption iz very low, and the needy alwayz get helped as the govt is strict in such matters. Well, in India, politicians give a damn to poor ppl.

WTF? In what world is Infosys considered the cream of the crop? Surely not in India buddy. Have you seen IT operations in India? Come to Hyderabad and have a look inside their offices. The creme de la creme with PhDs and extensive expertise in IT sector can be found in there. And, that is only one example. There are Biotech parks in Hyderabad where advanced R&D research is taking place in public+private collaboration. I am talking from Hyderabad's perspective alone since I am from that region.

oh yeah in India the 95% of the burgers dont have beef. They're either chicken or veggie burgers. In the Indian McDonalds they dont serve beef at all. Most western fast food outlets had to Indianise their menus a bit to survive in the market...that includes the likes of Dominos and Pizza Hut. Its only the coffee shops that have largely unchanged menus...Costa coffee etc

I've lived in the UK as a masters student...and before I went there I was concerned whether I'll get the food I'm used to eating...but once I got there I realized that there was plenty of all kinds of food! In any case there are plenty of Indian restaurants in the UK :)

@GAP4EVER we have mac Ds, KFC and subways in India as well. Its just that they wont serve beef or pork keeping in mind the hindu and muslim people. It would be veggie, chicken or lamb. They also serve for jain people i.e without onions, ginger garlic. They see that no ones religious sentiments r hurt and prepare the food in that way.

Both india and china pay huge emphasis on education (particularly maths and science), they are already established industrial giants, they have the largest populations, they are now 100% on the capitalism train, they have strong work ethics, growing numbers of English speakers and both are highly secular.

I'll add, India is forging far greater ties with the West, especially the USA, which sees it as a valuable partner in Asia.
We'll be acquiring a great deal of their technology and know-how which will actually put India far ahead of China technologically.
You know the stuff your countrymen try to acquire from America through industrial espionage/theft...it'll be handed to us legally. :)
Not to mention our own indigenous tech development as well. Also China is seen as a threat, India is not.

Ummm, FYI China is the 2nd most popular destination for technological investment behind India and China today has a much bigger industrial sector than an agricultural sector and I bet in the future China will be one of the leaders in technology, saying India will be "far ahead" China technologically is exaggerating, I think both countries in the future will be equal at technology.

In Australia we have entire apartment blocks owned by the government to house people and we also provide welfare, money, education, child support and health care for the unemployed, we don't just let our poorest people dwell on the streets.

80% of Indians live on less than $2 day...in abject poverty. That is 800 million people. 400 million people can't read or write. The fact that 300 million people are not poor is a poor consolation. WAKE UP. India has enormous problems. Work to solve the problem, don't just delude yourself.

Is outsourcing something to be proud of? keep in mind the core is still developed in the west. The only real advantage is the low cost.
Now I am Chinese and I am not praising the Chinese model is greater. It's just that a lot of you Indian folks just have this blind love for India and not looking at your problems. Your 95% of arable land is already farmed and half children are still malnourished despite the high growth rate. How are the poor people doing? Could you have been doing better?

My CS professor is Indian and he said that the indian model is simply not sustainable if they are content with outsourcing.
And plus, once Communist China falls like Soviet Union did( I am not doubting that for one bit), you Indians are gonna be the US's next target.
So stop the hostility and face the real world my southern neighbors.

You have to keep in mind the Indian democratic system is so much more organic than the chinese system. Economic development is easy to push through in a country that has an authoritarian regime.
India's democracy is its biggest strength and weakness. The indian growth story is not just due to outsourcing but rather a entreprenuership culture.
Chinese growth on the other hand is inorganic and stems from largely FDI and exporting, instead of domestic entrepreneurship, something they must fix

you are right, this is a very inorganic system, but if properly executed, Japan and Korea can serve as the more successful examples.
India on the other hand, is embracing a never proven way-I admire the audacity of your people in taking this entrepreneurial instead of manufacturing way of developing the country, and also your democratic system.
But creating unity is among different castes, different elasticities, different religions hard parliamentarian argues. So indeed it can be both pro/con

Yeah no I agree with you completly. Both models have their pro's and cons.
The export led growth of China has definately worked before and there's no reason it will not work again. I suspect that with rising affluence, the Chinese people will themselves demand greater civil and political rights.
Just ask anyone who has encountered an indian govt department/bureaucracy and they will tell you just how frustratingly useless indian democracy is!

you obviously don't know the Chinese well enough... silicon valley in California is practically 2/3's Chinese and Indian with countless entrepreneurs of both nationalities. Just look up the founders of Youtube, Yahoo!, Nautica, Vizio and countless other companies.

You misunderstand the point I was making.
I wasn't saying that Chinese people aren't industrious or entreprenuerial. Of course there are many successful Chinese bussiness leaders all over the world.
I was just merely saying that China's economic growth stems from largely manufacturing and FDI run companies, instead of domestic start ups.
It was by no means an insult or attack on Chinese entreprenuers.

thats the Chinese people that ARE NOT IN CHINA and thus do not contribute to China. Those companies are US based. The thing is, China is building Top-Bottom and India is building Bottom-Up which makes it so the China will soon reach a Plateau in growth and India will sooner or later surpass the Chinese

Thanks kuldueuc. It just irks me when other people think that whatever beyond their understanding is not normal and feel free to make fun of it or treat us in low light. Its high time when such things be accepted that there all types of people with diff habits and cultures and they like doing things not the white man way but their own way and there is nothing wrong in it.

It's normal for people to question or mock at cultures they don't understand. It's human. In India, it's not unusual to mock at Western aspects such as the gun-culture (in USA), perceived lack of a proper family environment, divorce rates, teen pregnancy, blandness of the cuisine, etc.

EJM0091; Yes, you're right. Actually the most ancient of cultures were alot more civilised/complex than the Western one today, which is a facade. The West still can't fathom how the pyramids were built. The Ancient Sumerians had a maths system that would melt Stephen Hawking into pulp. The West doesn't have a culture apart from what it has stolen from the East along the way. Where do Westerners go when they desire spiritual enlightenment?

All happiness may go because of huge recession. It is better to go back to our father's era permanent job although salary is low. Hopping from one job to another is fun for young people, not for people in 40s or 50s.

Do you think we can be a super power by just growing in one field? That too we are just a source of cheap labour(majority of us). There was a huge chance for India to develop infra and facilities for Micro and Nano and Fuel cells, but the govt was sleeping, while individuals were leaving for American, English and other dreams. surely what we have developed in past years is one thing, arrogance to compare ourselves to a superpower.
