  • THIS WAS MY FIRST SONG, AND STILL JUST KICKS ASS! \m/

  • First "Metallica" song I heard \m/

  • Lol, in the actual song, it says "Wake for my daddy oh" but James said "Whack" due to Phil's thick accent.

  • nO LYRICS :(

  • Don't care what people say, you just can't beat Thin Lizzy's version. Although this is good for different reasons.

  • @584megadeth Wrong. Buy the album, rip it to your PC, and read the writers. Since when is "Traditional" from the fifties? Even look up the song. It's a traditional irish folk song. Much older than that. It's a big part in irish heritage, now.

  • Anyone who thinks that Whiskey in the Jar was an original by Thin Lizzy is thick-headed and has never either owned this album and/or ripped the CD to their computer and reviewed the writers of the song "Traditional".

  • No realy the dubliners.

    Duhhhh.....

  • allright they covered the thin lizzy version. and the typical guitarriff is from that version. but thin lizzy redid an old Iriish Folksong, go look it up. whiskey in the jar by The Dubliners

  • that human who dont like this song is that bitch from this song: Molly

  • the music is thin lizzys listen to the original it doesn't have this music this is thin lizzys version but heavier james is a fan of Thin Lizzy and rightly so because they are a most excellent band

  • much better than the original song :))

    It's an extremely old song.

I doubt anyone alive knows who made it.

  • Metallica Rules

Being Irish Rules I fUcking love this cover

  • @584megadeth

Well, actually, the VERY ORIGINAL song is a traditional Irish folk song, propably a lot older than just 60 years. It wasn't "made" by the Dubliners nor any other band, they just made their own version.

  • No one hates the song cool :D

  • @584megadeth - Then every douche bag trying to learn guitar covered it since...

  • They ruined this song

    Fuck Bob Rock

  • i thought the music vid to this song was one of the best they ever did besides king nothing

  • BLUE OYSTER CULT!!!

  • who originaly plays this song?

  • @ultimakeyblade95

    thin lizzy

  • actually nobody sings this originally, well nobody knows

  • actually its the dubliners

  • Thin Lizzy originally plays this song

  • @ultimakeyblade95

there has been so many covers of this song. Its been on the go sense the 1950's...I know there is an Irish folk band called the dubliners who played this song in the 1960's. it is an Irish song. hence "Cork and Kerry Mountains"

  • @ultimakeyblade95 Thin Lizzy was the first to bring this song into pop culture. Metallica later covered it.

  • It's tuned down a whole step to d all the way. Like sad but true

  • I just got a tab for this and it says its in DGCFAD, which sounds good for me.

  • i thinks its supposed to be Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb

  • all strings are dropped, not just the e string.

  • No, im not.

the original is by The Dubliners.

  • not true either...it's an old irish folksong!

  • Thin Lizzy is not the original

  • @AliveByApril this version is a thin lizzy cover

but thin lizzy version was also a cover, just a few different lyrics

theres a version of it that is really irish its by the dubliners..
