Depending on the bass models (and where they are manufactured) Fenders and Yamahas can be quite different. You should try before you buy. (I would go for a good Fender bass.)
I'm gonna get my bass guitar soon, at first I'm gonna learn how to play the classic one,I can't wait to get bass!BDW, you got a beautifal face for an old man!
Hi, I'm having my bass in couple days and started reading books on it already. I was looking for a beginner video on YT and I guess I just hit the right one. Thanks for the great video. (your accent is cool :)
im a beginner and i was wondering: should i be having some wrist/thumb muscle pain while playing and is it something ill get used to as i get stronger and play more? im a 16 year old male if that matters. i also have a problem of my pinkie on my fretting hand sticking straight out when im not using it. is that a problem or is it okay?
In the very beginning it is common to have some muscle/stretch pains. However, make sure your technique is good and suitable for long-term playing and practicing.
Try to keep your pinkie loose and arched. This may take some concentration, but it will help keep most of your hand loose.
If you want more guidance, please take a look at my step-by-step subscription course, available through my website.

Hello and thanks for providing some of your background info.
There are heaps of free beginner bass lessons here on YT. However, none are really sequential and you may find it difficult to choose the right method for yourself.
I have a very affordable subscription-based step-by-step bass course. You can check it out via the link to my website in the Description box above.
Please don't hesitate to email if you have any queries.
This was sooo helpful :) My brother left me his bass when he moved out and I've been trying to learn how to play for months and I was having a hard time but this has really helped out
Dear George im considering trying to learn bass from instruction videos such as yours (haven't got the bass yet though) and am wondering weather to get a bass and see how it goes or try and learn to read music. is not being able to read music a real draw back and something to focus on before attempting to learn ?
Trying to read music before you learn the basics of an instrument (or even while you are learning the basics) may be more of a hindrance than an aid.
My Beginner series of Bass Lessons Online (via the link in the description box above) gets you into reading music slowly, step-by-step in manageable portions - always in conjunction with the practical lesson material.
To sum up, not being able to read music is a drawback in the long term but not in the beginning.
I"ve only watched this video and I'm hooked. I"ve got a couple of questions. Hello, I just wanted to know a few things about the bass guitar.
I am planning on buying one, but I don't know if it will be too loud for my neighbours, because I know that sometimes low frequency sounds make walls and windows vibrate and also are more audible than high frequencies through walls, so i guess my question is if there is any way to avoid making the walls vibrate? or something like that

Essentially there is no difference. Take the classic Fender Jazz Bass, for example; it is used all the time for rock. A good "rock bass" is the Fender Precision (such as the one in this video) or P Bass copies.
I suggest you go to a bass shop and get advice and demos.
I have an Ibanez 5-string bass and its good, but when i see other peoples bass guitars their strings are more closer to the neck while mine is about a cm away. Their bass is more easier to play cause there's less stress to press on the string to get a note. is my guitar broken or was it made to be like that?? please someone answer
1cm is definitely too far! It seems as though the truss rod of your bass needs adjusting (tightening). There are some good videos on You Tube on the topic of bass set-up.
I want to buy a bass for my 8 year old son, could you give me some clue, what is best to buy, in what price range, and where can I buy it, He is a beginner and does not know anything about music yet.
It may be best for your son to start on a short-scale bass, such as a Squier Bronco. I own one of these basses myself and think is provides excellent value.
Squier basses offer good value, often with amp packages. Get as many watts as you can afford for your amp. I will not suggest any amp brands because I don't know what is available in your area.
my fender replica custom 4 string p bass kinda has a snare between the 4th and 5th fret every time i hit the top 2 strings. any advice to how to remedy this problem?
There could be a couple of causes for this. The most likely is that your bass has a raised or loose fret wire at the 5th or 6th fret. Get someone knowledgeable to take a look.
thank you so much for the tutorial i have got a question have you heard if the brand glen burton i got a bass under that name is it any 'good will appreciate an ansswer thanks
I have not heard of Glen Burton basses, but that does not mean anything. There are so many brands available nowadays; many of them have excellent value.
"Good" is how it works for you. If you are uncertain, just get someone knowledgeable to asses your bass.
@MissGSFL Hi I got my first bass :) I got a silly question: Can I start with an 15 or 20 watts amp? Or it will sound bad..Do i have to start with 30w further?

I played bass when I was in high school about 8 years ago. Since then I have been in the military and working, but I wanted to pick up bass again. These videos are very good and I have learned things I did not know before hand. The one thing I always had trouble on was memorizing scales and improv. Right now I have a basic Squire Fendor and I also have a late 80s model Ibanez that has a great sound.
My step-by-step online course (available via the link in the Description box above) should help you with memory techniques and improv (among other concepts).

"The cable/cord/lead that goes from the bass to the amp."
Yes, which is the input for the AMP, but not for the guitar. For the guitar, it's the OUTPUT. Clarity in terminology matters.

to play a song on the bass is it made up of chords or scales and such??

Most simply, the bass plays the root note of the chord. Then chord tones and other scale tones (and non scale tones) can be added.

Hello and thanks for your background info.
My step-by-step online course (available via the link in the Description box above) should help you with memory techniques and improv (among other concepts).
Kind regards,
George

I going to start learning bass soon and I want to know what a good amp to get because I have no idea of what to get?
TheMrperson96 8 months ago
It depends on your budget and what is available in your area.
I suggest to get an amp with as many watts as you can afford. And, of course, you must like the sound and features.
I am happy to help further once you have narrowed down your options.
