Don't keep fighting a bad line when you are backing - pull as far forward as you can (or need to) and straight-line back whenever possible. Sure, it isn't as cool as pulling off that 90 degree back but it is safe and it beats spending all day at it. Just my 2-cents. :)
@legendareNz I just started driving for a food service company a week ago and can honestly say I suck at backing but slowly improving. Hopefully I'll get it down. Good luck to you and be safe.
@nevermindthedog1 I remember my first few WEEKS.. was terrible, days took so long.. all because I had troubles backing up.. all seems so easy when your driving with an instructor.. suddenly you have to do it for yourself. It wasnt the driving I wasnt so good at, but the insight.. like how to best back up, and where, and all that. I wish you goodluck on the roads ^^

Hjælp da chaufføren, så han kan få bakket til, man lærer 10 gange bedre at bakke hvis der lige er en der gider hjælpe de første par gange man skal bakke med en trækker, at sidde og grine af chaufføren fordi han ikke kan bakke til porten, så tager det meget længere at lære at bakke og få følsen med hvor man har bagenden. Men fuck dem der står og griner, de skulle selv ha lov at prøve at bakke med sådan en, så ku vi andre optage dem og grine og svine dem til.
Er 99% på at han nok lige har fået sit lastvogns kørekort, har selv kørt trækker trailer i mange år og jeg husker tydligt første tur jeg fik i en trækker, Da jeg skulle bakke til rampen, jeg sværger jeg kunne bare ikke ramme den latterlige port, brugte over 30 min på at få røven til den skide port og der stod et par chauffører og gloede og grinede i smug af mig, gå dog hen og spør om du lige skal vinke ham på plads, så tager det 30 sec for manden at bakke til så han kan komme videre.

boy you guys have 2 axle truck setup but here in USA we have 3 axle setup that normal use for 80,000 lbs (36287kg) but there are some state like washington that use double B train for 105,000 lbs (47627kg) due to Canada in north of that state. But keep it in mind that we do have 2 axle setup that can pull 80,000 lbs but only on sets of double A train.

I agree with most comments on here, ie was you born knowing how to reverse a truck or did you not make some mistakes along the way? and yeah I do drive a truck into some of the tightest places in the uk, so I do know what i`m talking about.

Instead of filming the poor guy you should have got out and helped and hope pretty soon you end up in a position similar to what you were filming , but much much worse .
There is a lot of thing to learn when reversing a semi! You can't catch them all in the same time! You need quite a lot of practice to achieve fast reversing in 1 or 2 tries! The best way is to look at others and carefully remember what they do! The only thing about this one is why does he/she go on 45˚ on each try instead of correct by simply going forward? And most of the time, some are unsatisfied, and some understand your level and are patient! But remeber to look at others to learn!

im laughing but ive been there, he might be a bad driver, it might be his first week on the job, who knows,i remember my first dock loading, nightmare and nothing like the driving test, i thought i was a f@@cking mooron, but with practise it gets easier, still hate blind sides though!!!
Cut the guy a break. Some drivers acquire the skill easily and others have to work hard and do it many times to get good at it. Those that learned easily should not be so arrogant as to criticize those who don't. Also, I find it much easier to park between other trucks or trailers because you have a point of reference so having a lot of space is not necessarily a help.
Even if he were an unexperienced driver, it shouldn't take this long. This is simply a matter of bad driving education. Cause even many of the "older" drivers (40+ yrs) seems to be having problems at even the largest places. I mean - it honestly seems that they just don't get experienced over time. That guy is as bad as I was in my first week of driving with a trailer - but after a week I had gotten the hang of it. And no, I do not believe that this was a fresh driver - not many of them are.

Good Lord, when he was lined up but too far to the drivers side on the dock, hard right, pull up,hard left pull up a little more, straighten it out pull up a little more, back up and he'd be in. Especially in a single screw COE!

There is so much room in between docks and trucks, why didn't he just do a light u-hook? It's not unprofessional or unsafe if it gets the job done quickly without damage. All he did was waste valuable fuel and brakes.

you know, with that curtainside trailer it's likely that this driver hasn't had to dock a trailer in a long time. after all that trailer can be side loaded. I know when I was pulling flatbeds, It took me a while to get into a dock after not having done it for a couple of years.

That trailer is a curtainside, the sides can be rolled out of the way. so they can load it from the sides. this driver may have mostly sideloaded loads & was out of practice docking the trailer.
In the east european country´s its normal if you can handle a donkey with a car, your allowed to drive a truck, This is very normal!!! in about 1 or 2 try´s to park it in front of the dock is for us drivers witch learned to drive a truck quied normal and easy. The prioblem is they fucked up the market and give us all a bad name.

sometimes the white lines are as wide as the tires, sometimes narrower, sometimes wider. too bad there's no standard (course, he's I consider it lucky sometimes to have any line painted at all) it looks like it's taking him a long time to find where the "center" is because he can't see the right side at first

As I wrote in the comment to the film, My attention came after minutes of manouvering before I started filming.
The film displays what EU and especially DK gets from this kind of "social dumping", letting discount hauliers and drivers from Eastern Europe take over the business locally in DK.
I do help drivers when I feel they are supposed to be payed fair.
But I simply cannot help someone to take my bread out of my hands only by low prices.
Competition on equal economic conditions is missing totally.
That's the problem after expanding EU to the east in such a massive scale.
Conditions are not getting better now locally in DK. The Minister of Justice has allowed the police to drop charges and penaltys at foreign drivers breaking trafficregulations, drivinghours and so on, if it seems to complicated.
DK drivers are fined with massive bills in DK for irrelevant small details, not concerning road safety, as the police lets foreign drivers pass on.
That makes the competition even more unequal.
If You want to help forigners paying taxes in their homelands to push You out of business, feel free to do so. But remember that the foreigners are not supplying UK's social system with money to keep You alive when You get unemployed.

im laughing but ive been there, he might be a bad driver, it might be his first week on the job, who knows,i remember my first dock loading, nightmare and nothing like the driving test, i thought i was a f@@cking mooron, but with practise it gets easier, still hate blind sides though!!!

Cut the guy a break. Some drivers acquire the skill easily and others have to work hard and do it many times to get good at it. Those that learned easily should not be so arrogant as to criticize those who don't. Also, I find it much easier to park between other trucks or trailers because you have a point of reference so having a lot of space is not necessarily a help.

Even if he were an unexperienced driver, it shouldn't take this long. This is simply a matter of bad driving education. Cause even many of the "older" drivers (40+ yrs) seems to be having problems at even the largest places. I mean - it honestly seems that they just don't get experienced over time. That guy is as bad as I was in my first week of driving with a trailer - but after a week I had gotten the hang of it. And no, I do not believe that this was a fresh driver - not many of them are.

There is so much room in between docks and trucks, why didn't he just do a light u-hook? It's not unprofessional or unsafe if it gets the job done quickly without damage. All he did was waste valuable fuel and brakes.

you know, with that curtainside trailer it's likely that this driver hasn't had to dock a trailer in a long time. after all that trailer can be side loaded. I know when I was pulling flatbeds, It took me a while to get into a dock after not having done it for a couple of years.

It's simply a question of skills.
This is an easy simple docking manouver.
There are white guidelines, enough space and nothing parked close to the dock.
Normally this docking can be done in 1,2 or max 3 attempts.
Before I started filming he had the first 5-6 attempts without success.

That trailer is a curtainside, the sides can be rolled out of the way. so they can load it from the sides. this driver may have mostly sideloaded loads & was out of practice docking the trailer.

In the east european country´s its normal if you can handle a donkey with a car, your allowed to drive a truck, This is very normal!!! in about 1 or 2 try´s to park it in front of the dock is for us drivers witch learned to drive a truck quied normal and easy. The prioblem is they fucked up the market and give us all a bad name.

How about getting in contact with the real world.
It's a simple fact and well documented that poor drivers from the new EU member states are offered ridicoulus 25 Euro a day and double up if they also do some driving. So forget about the illegimity, -it's happening... every day...every hour.
Ask around, it's for real.
An unemployed Dane gets close to 100 Euro a day by the union.

sometimes the white lines are as wide as the tires, sometimes narrower, sometimes wider. too bad there's no standard (course, he's I consider it lucky sometimes to have any line painted at all) it looks like it's taking him a long time to find where the "center" is because he can't see the right side at first

The film displays what EU and especially DK gets from this kind of "social dumping", letting discount hauliers and drivers from Eastern Europe take over the business locally in DK.
I do help drivers when I feel they are supposed to be payed fair.

Conditions are not getting better now locally in DK. The Minister of Justice has allowed the police to drop charges and penaltys at foreign drivers breaking trafficregulations, drivinghours and so on, if it seems to complicated.

DK drivers are fined with massive bills in DK for irrelevant small details, not concerning road safety, as the police lets foreign drivers pass on.
That makes the competition even more unequal.
If You want to help forigners paying taxes in their homelands to push You out of business, feel free to do so. But remember that the foreigners are not supplying UK's social system with money to keep You alive when You get unemployed.
