Ever heard of the "one drop" rule? During the Jim Crow era, many southern states adopted this one-drop law which means that any person who had one ounce of black blood, made them black. Take wentworth miller and Jennifer Beals sure they are Biracials but many times they play White people in movies. That is a form of acceptance. I agree treating biracial people as black people can be damaging to the black identity. My concern lies first with Biracial peoples identity not so much with what is damaging to Black identify. Yes I agree it is damaging to Blacks because it causes colorism.

I dont know, I have never seen a biracial person be accepted as a white person....but thats just my experiances. I agree with you in that biracial people should not claim to be black, but for different reasons. I think treating biracial people as black people can be damaging to the black identity. If you look on the tv screen and see biracial people portraying blacks, how would that make a mono racial black person feel?.....especially since we live in a euro-centric society.

If Obama had been raised by his Black side (fathers side) I really doubt if he would be President today!
