  • What octane were you running... Is it tuned? Etc. etc... 169RWHP is a tad bit high for exhaust and CAI... ;)

  • does someone know if i make my v6 stang ran with the 2 wheels instead of one can i get more hp?? please help??

  • A T-Lok will not necessarily help with HP... But it will allow you to use the RWHP you do have to it's full advantage.

  • If you get an X-pipe, it helps the engine to breath a lot better. You can get about 20 extra horses at the crank with it.

  • no you cant. there is no way you can get 20 extra HP even to the crank with an X pipe. Please dont spread misinformation.

  • Yes, you can get 20 extra horses at the crank with an x pipe. It decreases back-pressure. An x pipe will help alot with higher RPM horsepower, and an H pipe is generally better with lower rpm, and gives more torque. With an X pipe or H you have to go with dual exhuast, and that is what helps the engine to breath better by moving the exhaust gasses more freely.

So I am definitely not spreading misinformation.

  • lol... Good luck with that... Only one problem... Our V6 Mustangs handle backpressure differently than a V8 does, you know - where you normally see an X-Pipe Set-up... H-Pipes are where it's at for our sixers...

  • Not really most people go with X-pipes for V6 stangs because it creates more horsepower higher in the revs, because thats the natural tendency of the 3.8L engine. The H pipe will allow for more torque down low and the V8 creates more torque down low in proportion to the V6.

  • Out of all the sixers I've seen, and I've seen hundreds at this point that are built or being built... I've probably seen two or three running X-Pipes... That doesn't seem like "most" to me :)

  • BTW... TORQUE is probably the most important thing for these sixers... Most of them lack "launch" and the torque is where it's going to be at... Someone has to do a little more research :P

  • I know that they need torque but first of all most people like the H for the throaty sound, I have done my research, on my car I have an X pipe, it helps up high. If tune the car right, then you can make the torque neccessary down low with the tune. Obviously YOU need to do your research.

  • we have shorty X-pipe's and long off road x-pipes, eitheir way best bet is to just stick with stock and get a turbo kit.

  • Ohh i see. Any advice for someone close to buying a 2004 V6 3.9L Mustang?

  • make sure you have it checkout by a shop and consider buying a GT because you will only want more power after you get it

  • Im a student going to College in September... so i can afford the insurance on a GT.

  • same reason i didnt buy one. the 3.9 is a great engine with a very strong block and will be able to handle anything you throw at it. but as a said before have it inspected by a shop before you buy it if you dont know what to look for, check the carfax and make sure its all good before you buy it! and good luck

  • Thanks for the advise.

  • no problem! have fun!

  • why only 162. These V6 came stock with 190ish hp

  • thats 169 to the wheels. 190 stock is the HP to the crank

  • +1 for the v6
