Ancient flowers are in the Layaryu Mines (or however it's spelled). Activate a timestone and look around it. Most have one hidden in its area.

And they do have the game in the store before they start selling them, so you can very easily buy one, if you give them some extra money, if you know what I mean. For Mario Galaxy 2 I just threw in an extra 10 dollars and I got the game two days earlier
