  • hahahahahahahahah whatttt

  • lol, homoerotic innuendo, nice but too funny and the record scratch makes it even funnier, haha kirk and spock, the original bromance

  • Gotta love the disappointed face, you really don't need the music to show it... it just is there, so clearly... xD

  • lol

  • Okay what fucking episode is this?!?! :DDD

  • @TotalZukoFan It's the beginning of Shore Leave. Which has a few other gay themed moments as well.

  • the fuck?

  • @theagemon5 thats what im saying!

  • @animerulezx exactly XD

  • you kinda wonder why is the captains back hurting lol (and in the lower back too) xD

  • dig it in there Mister............... thank you yo-man thats sufficient. it was funnier then than it is today.

  • @datzfast "Yo-man"... I believe you mean "yeoman".

  • HAHAHAH!

  • I...Oh my god you just made my life. What season and episode is this?

  • i think you mean - there's something awesome about this scene

  • hahahaha....what's the name of the song?

  • TOO MUCH WIN!!! I am in the middle of an extended process of trying to convince my sister of K/S - this and your 'Tomorrow is Yesterday' vid are essential tools in my arsenal...

  • pr0n)))))))))

  • That music was perfect.

  • Looking at this scene and...well most of the series and the movies, I still wonder what the hell we're even arguing about. No, they are not gay, that's not what it's about. They're just in love, get over the labels, Kirk and Spock's relationship transcends labels. That's why its so fcking brilliant. *tips hat off to Gene*

  • Did the writer of this episode happen to write a bit of the Doctor Who series...?

    XD

  • the pr0n music made my day

  • Kirk really believed Spock was rubbing his back. And he wanted him to "dig it in there". He was disappointed to learn it was the girl. No doubt about it. Nothing to argue about.

  • ahaha spock wasnt having that xD

  • As much as i love this scene how epic would it actually be if spock was massing him?? :P but this scene pretty much convys the same thing XD

  • HAHAHAH

  • The record scratch just kills me. xD

  • @JackHarknessHearter 'Shore Leave' C:

  • Haha I've always loved this clip! :D

  • OH MY GOD I JUST GOT IT.

this is awesome!! and my mother says she "can't see the gay." she's a fool, a damn, damn fool.

  • I LMFAO SO HARD XD

  • Everythime I see this I can't stop laughing xDXD

  • im a kid of the 97's

  • did you see that devious smile? and the way he said something AFTER the girl left? HE DID THAT ON PURPOSE!! lmao

  • omg laff my ass off! XD

  • I don't even know that there are any words I can verbalize to describe my feelings right now. The people who made this show HAD to have been implying something here. This is beyong flaming. I have never in my LIFE seen Star Trek, but if this is a running theme throughout the show, maybe it's worth watching. XD

  • I love how disappointed he looks when he sees it's not Spock

  • the music just mmaaaaddee this!! i love it!!!

  • I love the way you slowed their stare down, LOL I nearly started choking. Its 4 am and I almost woke my family up. Thanks for the upload.

  • While most men freaked out at the idea of another man touching them, Kirk was almost shocked that Spock would not take the opportunity to scratch his back. Spock on the other hand was like, "are you kidding, I'm not your personal servant!". Also Spock would not do that sort of thing on the bridge.....but in the privacy of the captain's quarters however...Spock might chill-ax and give him a Vulcan back rub.....sweet.

  • "Ooh. Ooh, yeah, that's good. Dig it in there, Mr. Spo--" *sees Spock next to him* "...Thank you [insert name I can't hear and don't remember from the show HERE], very sufficiant."

  • @simsimcrazy47 Actually you know what's even more awesome? He doesn't use her name, he says "Thank you Yeoman". As in... MEAN GIRLIE WHO IS NOT SPOCK *pout*

  • AHHH!!! I DON:T BELIEVE IT!!!

oh god, this is just too good to be true...He was TRULY enjoying himself until he realized it wasn't Spock...!!!

    OH GOD FANGIRL SQUEEEEEEL!!!

  • Fantastic! Very funny! Well made!!

  • Comment removed

  • *facepalm*

  • Delusion is when there's no evidence. THIS is evidence. Extrapolation is therefore the correct term.

  • This could be but then why doesn't Kirk behave the same way with his other close friends, Scotty and McCoy? And I don't think that two girl bff hugging, kissing, etc was acceptable in the 60s.

    I don't think they're gay either...I think they're bi. ^^ Each for their own.

  • @fogdragon23 this doesn't really have anything to do with your arguement, but Uhura and Chapel kissed in one scene. It was a peck on the cheek as chapel was leaving, but just saying, the sixties wasn't totally puritan.

  • Everyone who hasn't voted for Team Spork in "the Ship Wars 2010" has to do so, right now!!!

And be sure that you're other two (mandatory) votes are for LOWER voted pairings!

    community. livejournal. com/st_respect/15257.html

  • X) Lol, what the hell do sporks have to do with anything?

  • Spock and Kirks name put together spell Spork. Isn't that awesome?

  • Ps. A Vulcan kiss is touching fingertips so holding hands is like third base for them.

  • @Unemotional4Vampires That puts the video of them holding hands for twenty-five seconds into a whole new light.

  • @Unemotional4Vampires Indeed it is. THE LINEAGE OF THE SPORK GOES ON FOR SEVERAL EONS.

    ...we even pre-date the dinosaurs.

  • @Unemotional4Vampires

If you put Spock and Kirk together in a different order, it's also Kock. Isn't that more awesome? Yeah. Thought so.

  • @amberjane9 I know that as well, my friend and I were discussing the pairing and I got halfway through saying Kock when I realized what it sounded like. We almost died laughing.

  • Oh Jim, you must learn to be subtle <3

At least around other members of your crew!

Hehe, Spock knew what Kirk was trying to do and thought his plan was totally lame.

Jim just wants his sexy Vulcan to touch him in public so that everyone knows who he belongs to! So people like Rand will stop trying to get in his pants.

  • hahaha this is soo funny!!!

theres a lot of scenes that indicate the more than friends relationship of spock and kirk.i cant help but wonder if its really true or are we just imagining things because theyre so close to each other...

maybe kirk helped spock during his pon farr? oopss.. sorry.

  • really funny! I so love these scene <3

  • sometimes this clip just pops in my head and i start laughing to myself like a crazy person and people are like what are you laughing at and i just say, oh nothing, lol, i don't care how many times i watch this clip it always makes me laugh my ass off, lol

  • Yeah, that was gay.

  • XD I actually just watched that episode today, and I laughed so hard at this part! Ah, absolute win!

  • FAIL!! XD

When I first saw this scene I was like "oh...oops!" The girl knew too! When Jim and Spock shared a look, she glanced right at Spock with a not-so-happy face, haha.

  • Lmfao. I love you. XDDD

    Ari chan

  • This is so crazy! The ladies man Kirk tells her to stop massaging after he realizes it's not Spock. Weird. I think the writers were really pushing the limits back then. But it was the 60's, the time and era to do that. Soo funny!

  • i love the way (1) Kirk's smile fades away when he realises it isn't Spock who's massaging him (2) and immediately after, he check's Spock's butt for all the crew to see.

  • Why is it necessarily an either or situation? And are you saying all sexual relationships are shallow?

  • *rolls eyes* Come on, between this, "Miri," and "The Corbomite Maneuver," I'd say that Kirk feels a little more than deep camraderie with his Vulcan, at least.

    "Amok Time" handles the reciprocation.

    YAY FOR SUBTLETY, STAR TREK!!!

  • wow...that really happened on the show? a show from the sixties? awesome! kirk and spock do work well together don't they?

  • YOU KNOW KIRK JUST DID THAT SO SPOCK WOULD TOUCH HIM xD

  • omg... that Theodore Sturgeon dude totally invted Pon Farr! I wish I could of met this guy before he died!!!! T.T I would of had deep discussions of how it worked and about Spock's....you know what, i'm just gonna shut up.

  • Yeah, he wrote Amok Time. The epiosde where Spock had to have sex with his assigned woman or die. Except he didn't, and he didn't die. Instead, he happily ran off with Jim to, ahem, "mind the store". Knowing Sturgeon wrote gay fiction, I think we can guess what minding that store might entail.

  • 'Cause we all know that as soon as Kirk dies, so does Spock's sex drive. XD

  • And when Spock dies, Kirk moves heaven and earth to get him back. So long beloved ship. Nice knowing you son. Career? To hell with it, and the crews' careers too. It's all Spock, Spock, Spock. Spock gives him "emotional security". (Kirk's words.) Honestly, folks, I don't necessarily want to believe they are lovers. But if they aren't, then what has all of this been about? Is there some other plausible explanation?

  • Nope, because Gene Roddenberry basically said they're in love. For the quote, search "The Ship's Closet" here on YouTube, episode 2 part 2.

  • YES the ship's closet is a GREAT channel. I learned so much ^^

  • you just made me lmao, xDDDDD

"Nice knowing you, son" indeed---....de-mote time~! *cracks knuckles*

  • @nancyzeetoo

Except for the part where Spock's Pon Farr had already ended, so he didn't need to have sex anymore. So when Kirk said "mind the store," they did not go off and screw like bunnies (to quote Brittany).

HOWEVER: Spock's Pon Farr DID end when he thought he'd killed Jim. Which is interesting enough all on its own.

  • @amberjane9 Ah, but you forget he needed to have sex with someone or else he'd die, regardless of no longer showing outward signs of Pon Farr. Doesn't that say something?

  • @amberjane9 Actually, you have absolutely no idea whether they did or not go off to screw like bunnies.

  • LOL!! it was meant to be!! even the writers for the series agree >:D It's only logical

i laughed for an entire day after I saw this episode. no joke

  • It was logical in all the right ways. Whoo!

  • Well, see it this way:

    1) The first half of season one establishes the flirty nature of their relationship, as well as their close friendship, and

    2) This scene is basically Jim broadcasting with a neon sign, "HEY, SPOCK! TOUCH MEH, PLZ???"

Of course, Spock is smarter than that, and Jim's devious plan fails.

    Logical, natural progression, that.

  • You are a genius. I will never look at this the same way. :P

  • Wow, thanks. I owe most of it to Britanny, though. She's the girl who hosts "The Ship's Closet," the K/S talk show. She does so much for the fandom, I refer to her as the High Captain-Empress of All That is Good and Spirky.

I do write K/S fic, though, if you'd like to check some out. I'm "Murf" on fa nfiction . net.

  • OH, god, I'm LAUGHING AGAIN. "Dig it in Mr. Sp-"

Seriously! This happened?!!?!?!?! *must have died and gone to heaven* I'm sorry, I'm just overwhelmed with laughing. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EXISTING!!!! =)

  • Thanks for this vid! Great music! ;-D

  • Now I've never been a big slash fan for the sake of slash...but Kirk/Spock I love. It seems so right and actually believable within the context of the canon and the show in general. I firmly believe, within the TOS timeline Spock and Kirk did have romantic feelings for each other.

  • i really wonder what the FUCK the writers were thinking with that one... >_> not that i mind all that much!

  • ya i do to. I wish i could ask the writer that right now. hmmm maybe i could.... Does he/she have an email? lol

  • Could I suggest contacting someone from beyond the grave? Maybe a psychic? LOL

  • The writer of this episode was Theodore Sturgeon who died over 20 years ago. But while you can't send him an email and ask him his intent, he was famous for writing gay-themed science fiction. So there can be no doubt about what he was up to with this scene. How he got it passed the censors at the time is another question though.

  • @juliejazz--I think he got it past the sensors because Gene Roddenberry wanted to mess with people's heads. Seriously, we have all kinds of stuff pointing towards Kirk and Spock being straight, and then all of a sudden they throw us stuff like THIS, which is so inherently slashy it's ridiculous. But still. I totally freakin' love it.

  • @juliejazz And here I stand, thought I knew everything there was to know about Kirk/Spock. Really, this information made me happy.

I now am no longer sleepy :D glad I rewatched this clip and saw your comment.

  • @julie jazz past the censors? hell they were laughing their asses off. the actors could barley contain themselves to soot the scene. straight men laugh at little fairies all the time.if you cant, you are no real man.

  • I laughed so much when I read that - you're so right! It's the most irrelevant, bizarre scenario ever. Unless the writers they had a secret, slashy agenda. And they probably did, because Spock/Kirk would be blatant to Fred Phelps...

  • They were thinking of the yumminess that is Kirk/Spock....=)

  • @drownedmachines it's not just the writer but Roddenberry and Bob Justman and everyone on the set who had to read the script (more people than you would think) and of course Robert Sparr the director and the bridge crew! No way none of them thought for a second that this was O.O

  • You really made my morning with that one. lol

  • Anyone how says Kirk/Spock shipping is stupid should watch this scene!

  • I just LOLed out of my chair! XD K/S ftw.

  • OMG the music... PERFECT. I love the looks they give each other, hahaha

  • lmao, the music cutting off was amazing, hahahaha

  • Comment removed

  • music cue is perfect.

  • Oh God.

Already I fully support Kirk/Spock...and I haven't watched an episode of Star Trek or seen a movie of Star Trek in my life.

    ...I think I should start.

  • whistlestopX- I think so too!!!! XDD That's so awesome. Thank you for watching!

  • Dig it in there, Mr. Spock. hahaha wow

  • OMG! That was hilarious! :D They really do want each other! :D

  • Hahahaha!

  • *is in shock* Well they truly to deserve the honor of being the forefathers slash!

  • I am so addicted to this!!! LOL! OMG it is so hilarious and oh so sexy! ;P

  • ... how have I never seen this before? Most canon couple of my LIFE. OMG LOLLING FOREVER, BRB

  • My god...that was fantastic! Oh Kirk, he wants Spock so badly. XD

  • Oh my god, I think I laughed so hard I broke something XD

  • XD me too! lol i broke a key of my computer T____T with da pencil bcause i was drawing and saw da video lol!! XD *crash* .____. XD lol poor kirk

  • LOL. Bahahahaha ... I totes never noticed that the first time around ... xDDD Aghhh, you're so awesome.

  • wtf? lol, that is the coolest thing ever. Could it BE more obvious!?

  • LOL! Oh these guys! hahahaha

  • Hahahahaha. Oh god. This is the best. What song is that?

  • that's awesome! I love the "bow chicka wow wow" music. srsly.

    *dies laughing*

  • This scene is so fucking obvious. XD

  • no matter how many times i watch this scene, it never gets boring. XD K/S FTW.

  • I just love the slow motion you put at the end when they look at each other.

  • HOLY SHIT!!!!! ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahaaaa i love these two soso much, thank you for posting this

  • Well, being a child of the nineties Star Trek was never really on my radar. I saw the new movie and my perverted little mind immediatly shot to Kirk/Spock.

Good to see I'm not completely insane! This is awesome. I'm hooked.

  • I'm a child of the 90's too, and I've always loved Star Trek! XD

  • wha do you know!

  • Child of the nineties may have made you skip the original series, but we had three other Star Trek shows.

They just didn't have the delight of Spork. ;)

  • i stumbled on this link through a deviant link. LMFAO! i couldn't belive what i saw and hured! my fience came up and asked what i was laughing about... i showed him.

he grind and said... "you have to ask yourself... 'why would Kirk think about spock would do that?'

amzing proff... instant fave... you have just made my entire year! i'm just about to go to work and i will be laughing mindlessly for the rest of the evening! thank you! XX

  • Wow! I'm so glad! Thanks for watching!

  • Can you think of any other episode/scene that has little hints at the slashiness? I want to make a sort of 'ad/commercial' thing. So far I have the holding hands scene from Errand of Mercy, the backrub scene from Shore Leave, and 'so-happy-to-see-you-alive' scene in Amok Time.

  • Errrr....clambering on each other's backs half-naked rings a bell...:)

  • I can't use it... that particular disc got a scratch on it. It still plays ok, but DVD Shrink can't do anything with it... Pisses me off, one of my favourite Spork scenes. Thanks for trying, though!

  • Download free DVD Decrypter (v3.5.4.0 is latest). On the settings, just make sure to check options to skip all errors with 0 retries. Or you could just rent that one from Netflix. ;)

  • ooh! Thanks, I'll let you know how that goes.

  • push, push harder

    LOL

  • The logic of our true ladiesman Kirk: 'Someone rubs my back... shit, it's just some good-looking girl and not Spock. STOP IT.'

That's weird. Sometimes I think I'm seeing slash just because I want to, but this is... unexplainable in any other way. I'm sure this writer saw them as something more than friends, but how on earth did he present this idea to the crew? And how did he get this idea through?? :'D Oh the mysteries!

  • yeah this is classic :)))))

  • my media teacher did her dissertation on how Star Trek has so much of a gay undertone, especially with Spock and Kirk. she said if you properly research it, it does seem like the writers are trying to make subtle hints (or not so subtle, as this clip shows)

i just find it kind of hilarious, mistake or not :D

  • FFFFFFF LOLOLOL

  • It probably was just a joke, but it still baffles me. Would they dare make such a joke in the 60's?

Was it seriously just something that the writers didn't notice? If so, how could they not??? Having Kirk say 'Dig it in there Mr Spo...' hardly seems like something the writers would throw in without realising what it sounds like.

Alas, we will probably never know *sigh*

  • About your reference to the 60s, I agree. At the time, such things would shock the people. But Star Trek changed a lot of the ways people saw the world. It showed the first ever kiss between a white and black person. That's why I love Star Trek, even today, it set the standers.

  • Sh*t! What episode was this? I had started watching all the episodes one after the other in January (my intention to refresher before going to see the movie) and I totally forgot about this scene!? Mind you, I had to stretch my viewing over a long period of time because my mom doesn't like the original series as much so it would get on her nerves, so if this is from season one, my forgetting it is understandable.

  • LOL. wow... wow. Fail, Kirk, fail. and I love how Spock is like "wtf SHUTTUP DUMBASS"

mind, this was in the 60's, when they just didn't DO gay on TV, so it was probably accidental. still. LOL.

  • Or totally ON PURPOSE but made to make us think it was accidental!

  • possible xD

  • I thought this was going to be a clip of Spock *giving* Kirk a backrub, but this? This is much, much more hilarious. And incriminating.

  • Great scene. xD It's funny how they blame Kirk's behaviour on lack of sleep. I'm sure he hasn't gotten much rest because he's been too busy getting that kink in his back. Bringing the bedroom to the bridge indeed!

  • does anyone notice he says "dig in there mr sp-" and stops :P

  • Hmm. Some things I want to point out.

    1) Spock raises an eyebrow and looks teed off as Yeoman starts massaging. (Dude, the eyebrow. NINE THOUSAND on the Vulcan emotion-o-metre!)

    2) IS; your vids use heaps of scenes in which Spock "casually" puts his hands on Kirk's seat. Does it seems too... I don't know the word... Familiar? Intimate? All the other characters seem to respect the seat metaphor-- even McCoy.

    <3 <3 <3 Logic.

  • Perhaps the word you are looking for is...Territorial. Spock does mark his territory quite well...LOL

  • ^^ I love you for this!! It's so true about the seat. Kirk seems awfully territorial about his seat, but of course Spock has no boundaries. :D

  • One could also point out that Spock also sits on that chair occasionally so he wouldn't consider it as "sacred" as the other crewmen would. But I like your explanaiton better :-D

  • NB: What I meant by "they never really explained it" I mean SOMEONE GO ASK NIMOY ABOUT IT.

  • Ooh... I would LOVE to ask Nimoy about it... can you just imagine his reaction???

  • You know what? They never really explained this scene. I'm not sure what the writer's intentions were for creating it.

Putting aside my admittedly subjective slash reading of it, what *was* the original reason for this? Afterall, EVERYTHING means something. (When film's so expensive, you make every second count.)

Do you think it was suggesting that Kirk had overestimated how close he and Spock were? Then again, that's also a pretty homoerotic reading. Nothing for it--- SLASH CONFIRMED!

  • I'd like to hear ANY other explanation that vaguely makes sense...this is what it appears to be.

  • I'm trying to think of a totally harmless, straight reason for putting this scene in and nothing comes to mind. Absolutely nothing that makes sense. I'd also like to hear why they put this scene in.

  • OK, IS, you convinced me and I am back here to re-convince you!

Take it from a guy who thought slash was, well, okeedokee there. IT WAS IN THE SCRIPT. I didn't have to do anything but watch it. YOU'RE RIGHT! LOL

  • this is hilarious! I never noticed this before and I watched and keep watching it since a was, well, a baby probably ;-)

  • He look SO disappointed too. XD

  • The thing I love best is that the second he finds out it's not Spock, he's like "...okay, I'm good, stop massage me Yeoman." It's just not the same if it isn't Spock!

  • omfg the show i was watching during this, right after this finished it said, "The variety of hotdogs is amazing!" XD

  • LOL XD

  • LMAOOO!!!! Gah kirk must be so embarrased LMFAO!!! whew i cant stop watching and laughing xDDDD wow this is epic !!!

  • geesus this is gay and fabulous. (I love making the audio preview say "gay and fabulous")
