I'm not a big fan of Apple so I don't know if there's any ease way, but you can try to set up some kind of Syncronization app that will store your photos in some web folder (BeeCloud mayb?). just maske sure that the iPad/iPhone shutter snatch will put photos to the folder that is synchronizing. This way you'll have access to your photos from any kind of device with internet access :)
Have You Tried The Direct mode At All ? I Bought 2 Of These Cards For Direct Mode Camera To iPad With No Wifi Needed But Am Havin Trouble ... On A Side Note , Love The Videos And Keep'em Coming
Awesome review, thanks for the battery heads up, was wondering about this but you're the first person to mention it, going to order me one of these now
The card is really fast on your video, my Eye-Fi cards take a lot longer to upload, about 15-30 seconds. Strange. So what I did when I needed to review photos without going to the camera I then connected a HDMI monitor on the camera, that way it was instant.
Went through 2 of these cards, both of them broke. I just gave up and returned them back to Amazon. They would stop working with the software. The computer could only read the pictures, but could not adjust the network settings (I tried 4 computers in my house so that was not the problem). The network settings would come back on, then the next day, stop working. I saw some of the reviews on Amazon and people would report strange problems. Any strange things happen on yours?
It's too bad you can't send to both shutter snitch and computer at the dame time but I wonder if it's possible with two card slots to have two pro x2's and have cone go to the ipadcand the other transfer the raw files to the computer. Do you ha duo slots?
I have the Pro 8gb card. Haven't tried it in my D300 with an SD->CF converter, but works great on the Canon XS. Just remember, only the Pro works with RAW files
I recently got the Explore X2, but haven't had much of a chance to play with it. I am usually on the road traveling, and don't have a WiFi router with me. I'm looking at upgrading to the PRO version, as it allows for an ad-hoc connection between the iPad and camera directly. This may be a good solution for others tht travel with their cameras, or do a lot of location work.
Wanted to add--I guess I don't find slipping the SD card into my computer that much of a hassle. Plus, I can better control which images to import. Don't get me wrong, I think Eye-Fi is a very cool product and a great way to upload to web-based sites when traveling at the every expanding number of hot spots. If anyone develops or improves the software for instantly displaying shots on the iPad (or laptop) with less problems than I encountered, I'll give it another try.
Well, after seeing your vid, I was prompted to give the Eye-Fi a try. I was liking being able to immediately see a larger image wirelessly on my iPad in order to better evaluate a shot and make adjustments on the fly. Unfortunately, I found the implementation buggy and pretty slow unless using small, basic images. Worth a try but I returned it to Best Buy with no problem. I guess I'll stick to tethering when I need that feature. Thanks for the informative video.
@kentak47 Hi! Interesting, and I'm glad they took it back. I've been using it for everything in my studio with D300s, JPG/Large - but if there is one thing I've learned about tech products - everyone's experiences can vary! :)
Have a quation and its not related to the video but others you have presented. Where do you get the mannequins or buy them from for that matter? I am ready to move up from teddy bears. I thought it is a great way to practice with light. Thanks for the input.
I bought one about 2 years ago for my Canon XSi. It worked great once i got it set up at home. But when I used it with my notebook on a group shoot. It wouldn't send the pics. I'm guessing something about the building. But I was plenty close enough for it to work. It just couldn't make the connection. Now I have a Canon 7D and I use Compact flash so it just sits in the bag with my XSi waiting for me to figure out another use for it...
@jessplayen I don't believe that Shuttersnitch is yet available for Android. There are versions of the Eye-Fi that would get the photos directly to Flickr over your own wireless network or a local hotspot.
I wonder if the "endless memory" feature works when shooting HD video. HAve you tried that too?
I like using an SLR for videos so I can use my ultra wide angle lense (after years of frustration because the older models couldn't), but even 720p uses soooo much memory...
@z98908 Endless memory -should- work for video (I have not tried it for video) - it wouldn't occur during the video, only once the full file is created on the camera.
@AdurianJ My first DSLR was a Nikon D100. I had a few Nikons and then also tried Canon a bit, as I wanted to be familiar with the system and see what life is like "on the other side." Ultimately, I decided to keep feeding my Nikon addiction, but working with Canon was a very positive experience :)
@antovegaphoto I have read online where people have used these trouble-free with a CF/SD card adapter - I have not tried this myself, however, so I cannot share first-hand experience.
@mhpetre I had one on some of my earlier videos - I stopped using it because I liked getting to the content faster. I want to be looked at as "real," and a one-woman-show, rather than looked at as a large company (which I'm certainly not). It's something that I might go back to, though.
The drawbacks that I saw from the Eye-Fi card where:
1. It seems to only work when transferring small JPegs.
2. Unless you buy the Pro card to do adhoc transfers, you have to have it set up on a wireless network.
and
3. This one is just me, but I seem to have this obsession with turning of the camera between shots to preserve battery power and that kills the transfer.
I was so glad to see that you can shoot tethered with Lightroom 3. (Even though it doesn't work with my D7000 yet!)
@SAImages Hi! Thanks for sharing your experiences :) I have not had problems with "JPG Large/Fine" images from my D300s. Yes, I've been running through my home network. And for 3 - that's not just you - it's a hard habit to break when working with the eye-fi.
Will buy another. When I can get extra batteries. Cause otherwise I wasted 15 bucks lol cause I put shutter snitch on my iPad after purchasing the card.
I had one of these but the drain your battery like a vamp drain blood! I'm. New be and don't have an extra battery so I took it back!! Love the concept but horrible side effects!

As far as file transfer speed - by the time I go to my PC after shooting, the images are already there.
