I saw Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Snakes & Arrows tours & just saw him on Letterman's drum solo week. He did the Same solo as Snakes & Arrows (almost 5 years ago). He was the only drummer to NOT play w/a band. That goes to lack improvisational ability. His "swing" big band playing is awful & always has been. He played w/ a computer & was stiff. Always loved Neil but he is not progressing

The solo I saw and heard at Madison Square Garden was quite similar f not identical to the solo he played on David Letterman. I just get tired of bands who always pay the same show throughout a whole tour.

@eqsmooth The one he did on Letterman was a shortened version of the drum solo he did live on the Time Machine tour, which includes pieces of his prior drum solo's (YYZ drum solo and R30) but he did create a original piece for his new solo. This abbreviated version may sound very similiar to his old ones because he had to cram three drum solo's into about 4 minuets. Look up the full version for the live show and i think you'll be impressed a little bit more.

@MrAdrianbelew I'll trust your knowledge & I love Neil Peart. He was a huge influence along w/Ian Paice & Bonham. I had a big kit & I tried many of his licks. He is a pioneer. I met BUDDY RICH twice & know how much he admired him. I just have difficulty w/Rush's very consistent repeats of concerts & poor, sad Neil's infamous frowning face on stage. I don't pretend to know what he has gone through but I've only seen him smile off stage, and even that, seemed forced. It just isn't the same.

@Freedome23 I found some kind of limited edition drum set on eBay that had all the drums in this set on it (with the exception of the electronic ones). It was between $25,000 and $30,000. That's just drums alone. I also found Neil's full cymbal set-up (Sabian Paragon) on Musician's Friend, and that was between $3,000 and $5,000. I'm sure no one has bought that set on eBay, and I'm sure Sabian isn't going to run out of cymbals anytime soon. So, for the low price of a house, it's all yours!

It's a beautiful kit, but I think the Snakes and Arrows kit looks nicer. It definitely sounds better. I haven't heard the Clockwork Angels kit yet, but it looks great too. I love the steampunk theme.
