  • hey are you guys really at stepping stone? I cant remember the town-Im up in Stillwater! I love Ozzy and Duncan :)

  • @endurancegirly Yep! I don't to type it on here b/c I worry a little bit about the random people online, haha. Thanks!

  • Such an beatifull terrain!!

  • i love how you actually take the time to desensitize your horses. most people would just act like nothing and tell their horses to get over it which can hurt their confidence:( and btw, Duncan reminds me very much of my mare Roxy:)

  • Truthfully I love your videos dragonfly1030! They are great. I am doing my first horse show on october 31st :)! Wish me luck :)!

  • the horses could care less about the bike they just want to eat

  • @bridlelessgirl Exactly! We wanted them to learn that they are not something to stress over.

  • I couldn't get this song out of my head - so, I'm putting it on my iTouch! LOL

  • My husband and I are on vacation, and we went mountain biking (his sport of choice)--and I had this song in my head the WHOLE TIME. lol!

  • hey, do you mind if you could comment on my channel, comment on my videos and rate them to. i need more vewiers

  • Hehe now your hubby and you can ride together ;) Is Ozzy Brown and White? I always thought he was Black and White but here he looks very light.

  • I think he is a piebald, but in the summer he fades to a (very) dark bay.

  • Aw, gotta love Jim! Tell him I said "nice bike" and that he should go ride some single-tracks with Dave sometime! :o) I prefer to stick to the forest service roads so Dave is always looking for someone a little more adventurous!

  • Jim would definitely be up for that! Once we have some decent weather we'll have to make the trip up with the bike.

  • Poor Jim ;) Riding around the grass and all, lol. If I were him, I'd have been panting and struggling the whole time. Good job though, Duncan looked great!

  • Haha, he had a good time. :) He was amused by the horses snorting and sniffing the bike. A good day of exercise!

  • Great idea! When my kids and I ride our bikes on the trail, we stop and walk our bikes past horses (usually the horse riders stop), but unfortunately not all bicyclists are so considerate. My kids also are horse riders!

  • Yes, that was what I was taught as a kid--hop off the bike and stop. I figure it can't hurt to be prepared for people who are unfamiliar with that idea.

  • brilliant! is Jim for rent?

  • Haha, he says sure!

  • I'm sure the horses in State College will be sad now, because I'm going to have to try that with the youngsters. You're boys looked great!

  • Thank you! It is definitely worthwhile! Another thing--make sure to have a group of people applaud them. Clue apparently never heard applause until her first show here, and wow, that got quite a reaction, lol!

  • That's a great idea too! Sometimes we get a crowd watching them lounge, but normally it's only Catie and I. We have been trying to introduce new noises as well as new sights, but I hadn't thought of applause. Last night we introduced them to a mirror, and they handled it really well. I'll put up some footage of that soon. Thanks for the ideas - I always love new ones:)

  • Good idea (: Duncans such a good sport :P

  • Thank you :)

  • Our horses are basically bombproof because we live on a road that people love zooming down and walking aruond on, even though we live in the middle of nowhere O.o

But its a good idea to bombproof your horse and it looks like you did a very nice job of doing so. Congrats!

  • Thanks! ;)

  • YOUR HORSES ARE BEAUTIFUL1!!

  • Thank you very much!

  • great job!!

  • Thanks :)

  • Jim was such a good sport! and Ozzy looks great! Not so much of a baby look to him anymore

  • Hehe, yeah, Ozzy's one big boy now! Jim was wonderful about the whole thing. :)

  • aww how cute

  • That was a good idea to get them used to the bike! I actually had to do something similar with my horse. There was a girl that would always be riding here bike down the road that was alongside the arena at our old place and my horse didn't freak out but would get nervous. so one saturday we just had my brother ride up and down until my horse got over it haha. both ozzy and duncan did so great! aw and your husband was such a good sport and helpful! have you guys done any trail riding since this?

  • We haven't had a chance to go trail riding since this, but I'm hoping to one spring hits again. My ankle was still not 100%, and seeing as I fell with Duncan last time we were on the trail, we weren't gonna take any chances. I'm looking forward to it once the weather's more appropriate!

  • That makes sense :)

  • Your hubby was having way too much fun!

  • He is SUCH a good sport. He's not at all into the horses, but he appreciates how happy they make me. Since he got to ride his bike around, he was more than happy to help out.

  • Duncan is the freaking cutest !

  • Haha, thanks!

  • Great video!

I rode with my old barn in a local parade, and we did a whole desensitization thing with them in marching formation. We had little kids run around screaming, yelling, flailing their arms, shaking raincoats, and opening/closing umbrellas on all sides xD it was hilarious. Only one horse did anything and it was just a flinch.

  • Wow, that's great that everyone was so chill about all of that! Back in the 70's, my aunt had an Appy who she wanted to desensitize. She set up the home corral with everything ranging from shiny, metallic balloons to a MOTORCYCLE. Needless to say, her horse was pretty stoic about everything after that. I wasn't alive yet to see it, but I'm sure it was priceless when her horse first saw that corral full of stuff!

  • Great thinking of him about the gravel and well done to all five of you seems like it was a very productive day actually the majority of horses get unsure around bikes no matter the age or breed so its no shock these two were ware of them as well.

  • I can understand why the sight of a bike confuses them, no doubt! They both handled it really well. Any time I find something that they seem unsure of, I try to help them find a way to get acclimated to it that will be fun for them. I just recently discovered Clue is not fond of applause--then again, I can't think of a time when she's heard it before--so we'll be working on that...

  • lol at Duncan at 1:10ish- was about to say he looks like a donkey then i realised he was standing in a square halt!!! Thats a wonderful idea! And the movement on gravel sets crissie off so maybe I'll get my OH to help too :D

  • Haha! Thank you! It was kind of born of necessity. :) Sounds like a plan!

  • i LOVE this! It is soooo cute! Such cute boys you have there!

  • Thanks :)

  • That was just adorable - love the freeze shot of Duncan and the bike side by side at the end. The song made me laugh!

  • Thanks! Haha, I couldn't help myself with the song.
