I come across these videos way too often. Professor DJ Red is here to educate. First off, true Hip Hop heads don't listen to Fat Joe (I don't even know who that is). Second, you only hate the genre because of your perception. Artists such as Lupe Fiasco, Nas, and The Roots are foreign to you because you don't even try to care. These videos are hypocritical, because even some groups such as Linkin Park have a rapper. Hip Hop is the soul music of the oppressed, but I guess ignorance is bliss.

Look up Dear God 2.0 by The Roots and you'll see why so many Hip Hop listeners hate the mainstream.

I like metal, AND.... rap? yes its possible, I actually like a very broad range of music, from bassnectar,to Nas, To SLAYER, to The doors, to Biggie, to Clapton. People have to understand, There is bad music in EVERY genre, I have heard terrible metal songs as well as bad rap, but I love these genres to death, because they produce really good artists and amazing music. Its all about personal preference from there. The only exception is pop, because there is no talent there at all, they all suck.

I come across these videos way too often. Professor DJ Red is here to educate. First off, true Hip Hop heads don't listen to Fat Joe (I don't even know who that is). Second, you only hate the genre because of your perception. Artists such as Lupe Fiasco, Nas, and The Roots are foreign to you because you don't even try to care. These videos are hypocritical, because even some groups such as Linkin Park have a rapper. Hip Hop is the soul music of the oppressed, but I guess ignorance is bliss.

Artists such as Lupe Fiasco and The Roots are overshadowed by "party music and garbage lyricists" that just makes you want to cut the radio off. Look up Dear God 2.0 by The Roots and you'll see why so many Hip Hop listeners hate the mainstream.

When he was frequently collaborratin with Common, he was good (I don't think he was in the Hip Hop genre lyrically, but he was deep in that territory in terms of production work). The only thing that keeps me interested in his work in terms of his lyrics is simple: He focuses on himself and not on drugs or violence. So he's still original, but for how long?

I like metal, AND.... rap? yes its possible, I actually like a very broad range of music, from bassnectar,to Nas, To SLAYER, to The doors, to Biggie, to Clapton. People have to understand, There is bad music in EVERY genre, I have heard terrible metal songs as well as bad rap, but I love these genres to death, because they produce really good artists and amazing music. Its all about personal preference from there. The only exception is pop, because there is no talent there at all, they all suck.

I don't dislike rock at all and I do listen to it but it can also be pigeon holed aswell. If you think eminem is alright that's fine. He's not really my thing though because I realise it gets so much better than that. Don't take it out on a whole genre basicly.

Also I just want to say that there's an aspect of metal that I wish ALL hip hop would adopt. Rappers need to stop making music for CONSUMERS and start making music for FANS. A consumer is someone who'll buy music if it's reminiscent of a POPular trend. Hence the term hip "pop" and why it sells so much(Lil Wayne). A fan is someone who listens to music because he or she feels it's distinctly appealing, the artist is consistent and wants as many people as possible to know about it (my music page).

For everyone whose saying "ALL rap sucks", you have no idea what you're talking about. The only rap you guys know about is MAINSTREAM rap. And as a hip hop head I hate it to death. The rap I listen to is either old school or underground/indie. Also MAINSTREAM metal/nu metal sucks and most rockers I know proudly profess that.
