  • The sample of Blood and Fire works really well in this ethereal other-worldly song. The inclusion of the sample is not overly clever or contrived... it has a distant, vaguely fourth world feel to it...

  • Samples Niney the Observer's 'Blood and Fire'.

  • Pj is sounding like early Danielle Dax 'Blast The Human Flower', tho this is absolutely fine, A while since anyone has made such a sound, personally i wish pj would go back to her earlier 92-95 period, altho she'd definitely disagree.

  • blood blood blood...blood and fire!! some songs just have fantastic atmosphere.

  • i LOVE the "let it burn, let it burn," in the background

  • Bloodbloodblood Blood and Fire !

  • like a fine wine, she gets better with age.

  • how did she get that Rhodes/organ(?) swirl

  • @raku217

sounds like a lot of reverb and some chorus on fastly brushed electric guitar, maybe a couple of layers.

  • @Wannop

    and some tremelo too?

  • @raku217 maybe a leslie cabinet??

  • AMAZING!!!

this song threw me off when i first listened to it and now i can't get enough. amazing pj.

  • I don't usually bother leaving comments on these things, but fuck me this is a very good tune. What a talent and vital artist Polly is!

  • Niney's Blood and fire fits perfectly. Masterpiece!

  • Polly has matured as an artist. At least I can still listen to her old stuff.

  • Hands down one of the most creative females alive.

    Polly Jean simply kills.

  • haha that's a fact-reminded me of Peter Gabriel too:)And I won't complain either. Not many artists-esp.the"long term"ones are looking for something new in their work-what is also not easy, but at leats ones like Polly are!

  • someone's been listening to a lot of Pete Gabriel lately.... but i won't complain

  • AWESOME

  • the best song i've heard this year

  • The reverb-heavy dreampoppy vocals and relaxed beats remind me of Liz Fraser of the Cocteau Twins, and I love how the tribal elements complete the song.

  • beautiful

  • @luanaqotsa Dude. Stop yelling.

  • This is coming from a place of deep respect, observation, and lust for that which is PJ Harvey... WHAT THE FUCK IS YOU THINKING.

This sounds like a stoney Sunday afternoon when all three of your goddamn roommates are listening to 3 totally different things, and YOU have the paper thin walled room in the middle of it all!

Polly, I think you've got a real arsenal up yer sleeve, this is an interesting idea... but it is NOT finished yet.

  • @maneatingorchids Dude. Stop yelling.

  • @maneatingorchids Nobody likes a music snob

  • @BenGibbard10 This, coming from someone called 'BenGibbard10'... yeah, apparently no one likes standards either.

  • Greatness !

    Respect. :)

  • this track is GENIUS.

  • this song is beautiful

  • white chalk is one of my favorite albums of all time!

  • she is pure prophecy

  • Pure vocal beauty.

I've listened to this three times.

Each time it makes me cry.

  • beautiful so diffrent! this womans voice and style is the so versatile love pj : )

  • soooo sorry for polly jean

  • This is a brilliant piece of music! I love it on first listen...unique which is quite a challenge these days, and very atmospheric. Keen to see how this will be performed live! Go GIRL!

  • Pure silk, dangerously beautiful ,Love that picture with the blue sky, like some ancient goddess been playing on Earth forever, very scary (in a good way)

  • this is ok, white chalk was an abomination. i much prefer her when she's loud or singing about killing and death and torment

  • @cheapy2006 You are not quite right with your head! White Chalk was pure beauty!

  • @navogenic you're either nuts or you're taking the piss

  • @navogenic In retrospect i think so too :-) Especially with newer live perfomances of the same songs. Now i think she is the grtst fmle artst of the past 20 yrs

  • @cheapy2006 well, I like white chalk a lot.

  • @cheapy2006 white chalk was about killing and death and torment

  • does no wrong, amazing vibrations to her voice....

  • it´s fine and pleasant but i miss the power of subjective message which was unique, inimitable and irreplaceable.

  • @ivusek yes but an artist can only do that for long before they remain repetitive. i like her musical progression of never repeating herself.

  • @Neilpoe but she was like that for ages (from her first album) and there was still some progression. for me, it has always been about touchning soul through music and... worlds. and honestly, i am not really into listening about england... i don´t have any relationship to it and it doesn´t connect me with the artist or anybody. but maybe only these two songs are like that...
