This is one of the best kept secrets on youtube and it seems that many do not realise what a gem they are missing. When I want to hear the very best of acoustic guitar playing and songwriting I just come right back here to this inspirational performance and I always leave uplifted..
The guitar fills at 1.03, 2.39, 4.23 , 5.03 and the tremelo effect Darrell gets by pulling back on the neck are beyond amazing for the way they delight the ear and fit so perfectly with the tune.
I have listened to this several times a day for a month or more and it just touches me every single time. It has everything, great vocals and lyrics, depth, and fantastic picking, especially the fills at the end of the lines. This is as real a deal as acoustic music and songwriting can get. I am amazed that there have been so few views. Some of my half assed fiddling about guitar tunes have had more views on here and that is downright absurd when there is something this good to be heard.
Too good to be true! Darrell has been my number one for some years now. I play many of his songs myself, but seeing this video I feel so incredibly small and afraid to even touch my guitar. This video demonstrates that Darrell doesn't need a band or a symphony orchestra for that matter, it is all there at the tip of his fingers.
i watch this video everyday! Darrel you are an inspiration with your playing(which is mindblowing) however, its your songwriting that grabs me the most. I use your influence more than anyone else's when Im turning a word. Please keep writing and playing man!
channels like mtv and cmt have made it impossible for "real artists" to be as famous as their "good looking" coversong artist counterparts. If you notice, acts like Kenny chesney, rascal flatts, brad paisley and so on use these writers songs. ITs a shame because the tv giants won't let the consumer listen to real music because they may not look good on a beach or in jacked up truck with a dozen half naked women. Rock on Darrell!
heard a version of this on the radio the other day. it was with a full band. they said it was called live from north carolina. does any one know of this? is it an album i can buy? it rocked!
Darrell remains one of the real artists I will reach into my tight wallet and still support by purchasing product. For the most part, the over polished, under talented Nashville "stars" pale in comparison of this pure writer of songs. It's like comparing drive thru cheeseburgers to prime aged steak. Darrell is all substance, no filler or fluff.

Good grief, that is just wonderful on every level. So many skills demonstrated on the guitar in one tune, all while delivering flawless vocals.

I agree - although I happen to think Darrell is quite handsome! Perhaps I'm influenced by the superlative musicianship...
