Kaufmann is now clearly ready (as almost no one else is) to take on the great Verdi tenor roles. He will bring a fascinating combination of his "beefy" baritonal sound (though he is definitely a tenor) and his bel canto lyricism (and control of head voice and dynamics). We are in for some great singing in this rep!!
@jackylen57 no, but one in French with Domingo and Ricciarelli (cond.Abbado, Deutsche Grammophon) and one in Italian with Domingo and Caballè (cond. Giulini, EMI): they are both superb

i agree..
ghe wants to do a false bigger voice, and it becomes without "ring", bright, so "ingolata" and not beatifull. But marketing is marketing

Il existe un merveilleux enregistrement par Bergonzi, Tebaldi, Fischer-Dieskau en marquis de Posa et Grace Bumbry en Eboli... Je vous le recommande!
