  • fuck kevin

  • modern pop is fucking bollocks compared to this....

  • @2102adamski -I don't get into this debate bullshit tho I do respect your opinion-But come on-this was iconic to a degree back then....The lyrics in a context that suits would attract a lot of us as it did me back then

  • What a dreadful song. Makes me ashamed to be part of the human race that such crassness exists.

  • @2102adamski

Is your name Kevin by any chance?

  • 17 dislikes? Do me a favour, I would watch this till my mum gets a boyfriend

  • "flicked to kick" best line ever

  • it's not too many songs that have "cabbage" in the lyrics...you gotta love that.

  • A magnificent cry of rage on behalf of anyone who's ever felt pissed off by a mate/sibling/cousin who is better looking/more talented/smarter than you.

    As ripostes go, it's untouchable.

    Fantastic!

  • i bet this guy looks like the cryptkeeper now

  • top band, greetings from county luton

  • I have seen The Undertones twice and am going again on 3 December. I have also seen Stiff Little Fingers (3), the Sex Pistols (3), Buzzcocks (4), The Damned (7), The Stranglers (5), UK Subs (4). I am 26 and have only seen these groups over the last nine years, so some original members missing but all still awesome. Love this era of music.

  • The brilliant Undertones..A real band with real talent, great music died with these guys, along with The Jam, The Smiths,The Clash, now we have wailing drivel and 3 chord monotony, from X Factor type bands like Coldplay, The Script, e.t.c fuck how depressing is todays alleged music??

  • Woops , sorry I mean GREAT music !

  • Greag music ! Good ol Irish begrudgery at its very finest ! ..... Love the Undertones !

  • Classic punk. Real old school, but still great. This rocks.

  • i have a cousin called kevin,i think hes a twat

  • I found Waldo!

  • kevins a dick

  • Love it love it love it. Head down no nonsense mindless boogie.

  • Kevin is the victim here !

  • 'He thinks that I'm a cabbage,coz I hate University Challenge'.

Only the Undertones could conjure up those lyrics.

  • I love the Derry accent.

  • @Haroldscross63 i'm from Derry!

  • @Haroldscross63 me 2 :)

  • brilliant

  • He's got a green in ecomonics, mass physics, and bionics! Little prick.

  • @SwigzooX i thought it was `a degree in economics etc`

  • Very nice. Well done lads!

  • Camisa de Vênus: O meu primo zé.

  • Are the exterior shots filmed in Derry? They look familiar and I know the band are from there.

  • He flicked to kick and I didn't know !

  • Ireland's Ramones?

  • @EdMcF1 Ireland's Undertones my friend :-) no comparison

  • @jwood36 Fair enough, it was a compliment.

  • @EdMcF1 Sorry mate if I came across as having a pop that wasn't my intention.

  • @jwood36 Not at all, no pop perceived, I just hoped my original comment was seen as a compliment. Nice to see that there are still some people who make civilised comments!

  • It's a good song. It's too bad you don't allow embedding.

  • Derrys finest Brilliant ...

  • There wasn't much bad music at this time until 1981 when those awful melody records came out Stars on 45 and all that and the birdie song

  • great song

  • We all have a cousin Kevin in our family, or lives...

  • Why do the short songs always have to be the best???!!!???!!!?

  • @kitcadbury

That's why they invented repeat lol

  • @kitcadbury

That's why they invented repeat lol

  • wooooooooo!!!!!

  • Up the Candystripes!

  • I love it when a group actually has a true singer and doesn't just get one of the musicians to sing - especially when they can't.

  • is this fergel ?

  • Was this video shot in Derry?

  • @nirb8 Yes: at the house of John and Damian O' Neill.

  • @nirb8 Yeah shot in John and Damien's house. One of the Band had to run to the nearest shop to get 50P's for the electric meter !!!!!!

  • without the disco and pop you cunt you would'nt have had punk...........jarm, the specials the the sex pistoils, you should be in bed now should'nt you!!

  • I hate to sound like some dumbass chongo meathead but ....FUUUUUCK YEEEEEEEAH!!!

  • Deffo, one of their best songs and from an unbelievably innovative era if you take out the crap of the disco and pop, bring on the jam, specials, the the, sex pistols, great to be able to flick through them all on here.

  • danagger grow up and listen 2 the elders pal

  • This is one of my favourite Undertones songs. My uncle is friends with John O'Neill and I went backstage to meet them at Bearded Theory Festival then watched their set from the stage the other week! They are genuinely the nicest people you'll ever meet. The room where you see them playing subbuteo is actually the exact room in John and Damien's house where they would sit listening to records when they were kids. Oh and the new singer, Paul McLoone is brilliant. Worth going to see them!

  • subbuteo- those were the days my friend......

  • I love football

  • Brilliant!

  • the undertones the jam the clash the damned the specials the ruts the buzzcocks joy division even early U2 were good etc- then by 1984 it was all just a memory! but from 1977 to 1982 music ruled! theres some good music out there now but it will never match this era and what it meant- no ipods no youtube- you had to work for your music! This and the late 60s were the cultural highs of music - in my humble opinion! Just a great tune!

  • @salvadory Agreed.......

  • @salvadory Agreed....

  • @salvadory how could i forget the mighty "the saints"

  • i want to live in the 70's

  • Ramones are my favorite, but this is undoubtedly one of the best punk songs I've ever heard. Great song, great melody, great lyrics, great band, I mean, what more can you ask for?

  • @pbot2029 next weeks lottery numbers?

  • yeaaaahhhhhh...... undertones a mazoooo

  • i love the Lobster bib album

  • Subbuteo!!!

  • i cant say i really like this too much but i cant really seem to stop listening to it for some reason

  • that dance by the group at the end is so funny. These guys seems like a bunch of pissers.

  • temper trap may have stolen this lik...

  • Super!!! I love this song, I love the Undertones!!!

  • Its funny they dis Human League, although I do like the Human League

  • the only bad thing about this is that it only lasts 2.35

  • yeah!!! punk rock on!!!

  • @desamator11

    *facepalm

  • Comment removed

  • @krakenwave titties !!!!

  • this is great, its punk??

  • @crassadict211 i always look on `em as a punk band (tho` many would`nt )the music was basically guitar pop no doubt pretty easy to play if you`d just picked up a guitar and the lyrics mostly dealt with girl/boy problems in quite a nice innocent way .i saw em about 5 times -great stuff

  • The Video was filmed at John and Damian O'Neill's home in Derry, Directed by Julian Temple and because of the high usage of electricity the meter went off, and in the spirit of The Undertones nobody had a 50p so had to send someone to get one from the local shop!

  • THE UNDERTONES ARE THE BEST GUITARISTS LIKE EVER! <3

  • WTF happened with Feargal? With the undertones he totally rocked! By himself, yuck!

  • Loving the red geansai from mammy ...and the music of course, the geansai was a bonus :)

  • one guitar does those slide chords and the other is strumming right? or both guitars are sliding?

  • candystripes

  • the bollocks....happy days

  • What a great song. And so very Irish.

  • great song and a great video ........ i like how he relates it to the young boys at the end which links the song with the problems of growing up with a cousin who is a favourite.

  • You have to be a Jesus to beat this heavenly music!

  • Wow, Kevin. You seriously disliked this eleven times? Get over it.

  • wow fergot these guyz existed

  • Saw them live in 1980 (I think) and Feargal was awesome !!

  • Comment removed

  • Great tune from the days when you didn't have to be pretty boy / girl to get on the telly.

Unfortunately Feargal wouldn't get anywhere near a 'media opportunity' these days without a face transplant.

  • @biggayrobbie Awh, he was okay. He managed to get married, so it must not've been too bad for someone!

  • more perfect pop under 3 mins great riff what more do u want!! now all we seem to hear about is the x-fuckter!! com on young people get of ur arses and do something about it

  • chooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon

  • there is no comparison late 70's and early 80's was the pinaccle of music . after that the music was terrible.

  • @MrConundrummer bollocks

  • @OscarPiddletrentHyde no... never mind the bollocks was the sex pistols , this is the undertones my foolish friend .but they were from the same musical period .so glad you agree with me.

  • It was about the music then, not how handsome or beautiful you were, not like today, everything is all appearances now.SHALLOW!!!!

What if a 18 stone ugly bloke made a record, but was unseen and you did not know what he looked like, but the record was bloody great, and it got to number 1. Would you not like the song when you actually saw the artist.

  • haha greenday GTFO

  • Joint best band ever along with Green Day.

  • @doctorwho907 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @flashesofbrilliance1 Then who is the best band ever?

    Don`t say the Beatles.

  • @doctorwho907 the beatles

  • @doctorwho907 live- the who albums-beatles

  • @doctorwho907 the JAM!!!!!!!!!! followed closely by the pretty things and the damned and then the clash!!!! Beatles round out the lot!

  • @doctorwho907 fuck new green day bunch of sell outs and you can hate on the beatles all you want but without the Beatles there is no modern music as we know it Maybe someone else comes along and revolutionizes music the way they did but probably not Whose to say who the best band ever is? i laughed bc i hate what green day has become they used to rock. now they are doing broadway musicals. my personal favorites are Guttermouth, NoFX, and Big D & the Kids Table. sorry it took so long to respond

  • @doctorwho907 Hahaha Green Day??? Give me a fucking break.

  • I love this song. I've never seen the video before. Thanks for posting it.

  • One of the best videos made.

All the young ones at the youth club, real stuff.

  • I was in Derry last week and I went hunting!...the scene where they are walking up the stairs/fire-escape 0:52 is the old cinema on orchard street.

The staircase is gone, and the door they walk through, but you can still see the marks on the wall.

Stick -Orchard street, Derry- into google maps and then zoom in a bit on the -A-and drop the wee yellow man from street view on top of -E Wall - (East Wall street).

The fire-escape they are on is beside Debenhams store.

  • this is literally the worst song I've ever heard. I love it.

  • this is so frickin' good- right down to turtle neck jumpers.

  • you dont get classics song now this song is over 30 years old and still a classic

  • feckin brilliant track ye heathens

  • Fur lined sheep skin jacket? What the fuck is that?

  • @cleenfred Its rocknroll

  • @cleenfred if you were around in the late 70's you would know

  • I can see that my country Finland was poor as Scotland and Ireland at the 70`s. Music shines when you are poor!

  • Comment removed

  • This is probably the best 2 and a half minutes of your life!

  • the world looked like such a cool place back in that time, wish i was around to experience it...

  • Some great lyrics in this song. "His mother bought him a synthesiser and got the Human League in to advise her". That's classic. Also "he ficked to kick and I didn't know" hilarious.

  • Holy shit how had I not heard of them until now. Damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. Must. Buy. Albums. Now.

  • This is so fucking good, 2.36 minutes of pop genius!!

  • ABSOLUTELY FAB!!! BRINGS BACK GR8 MUSIC MEMORIES....THANX UNDERTONES XXX

  • Totally fuckin' awesome!

  • I think we all had a perfect cousin lol, great song....

  • Brilliant just brilliant..so much better than teenage kicks...I have a new appreciation for this band upon hearing this song

  • Awesome....

  • Ryan koko - I hope you didn't choke on that hun lager. As foul as Calsburg

  • @ToffeeTunes Re: Hun lager.

RYANKOKO is one of those people who think you catch more flies with honey. I am one of those who know you catch more flies with a bug zapper.

You are one of those worthless piles of xenophobic shite that infest England, and only survive because you have an island to protect your little hillbilly arse.

  • Wow! Just re-listening to the lyrics of this song this really is a good example of deep seated resentment causing a rebellious turn toward punk music - Lol

  • that waz fuckin' ace!!!! :D

  • Love the drummer in this - so orange walk!

  • @alansmart7

i think you will find its st paddy fenian band if it was orange walk music it would sound cheap and well soulless imho

not that it matters either way but the way to look at.... a typical rangers supporting band WET WET WET

A typical Celtic supporting band OASIS

Dont claim this for Ian Paisley. imagine him doing the pogo to this jesus wept

    peace

  • @RYANKOKO I still reckon it would have been orange drum: A cheaper prop to buy on the streets - a pint of McEwans lager, the fizzier the better

  • @alansmart7

nah watch the docu on them it will show you. The Drummer even wore a black arm band on top of the pops in solidarity with the hunger strikers so there you go.

Wind up merchant stick yer McEwans up your arse ha ha. Funny that i was visiting Back Home and i ordered a pint of said beer the looks i got of my celtic supporting cousins they had to educate me

  • @RYANKOKO Hope you enjoyed you hun lager. I am surprised you found a pub that still sell the pish.......probably owned by Graeme Souness.

Even the lodges cant shift it these days - their contribution to the peace process

  • @alansmart7

as you say fizzier the better. its not for me to talk about really but it seems the undertones lived through it and rose above it as best they could so maximum respect.

at the end of the day we are all one brethren see the light.

  • His mother bought him a synthesizer

Got the Human League into advise her

Now he's making lots of noise

Playing along with the art school boys

Girls try to attract his attention

But what a shame it's in vain total rejection

He will never be left on the shelf

Cos Kevin he's in love with himself

  • @pablopeich

    amazing lyrics

  • I've got a cousin called Kevin

He's sure to go to heaven

    Always spotless, clean and neat

As smooth as you’ll get ‘em

  • Undertones rule !!

  • Only ONE charting LP in America - WHAT???

  • How can I have lived for 36 years and never heard this band or this song?? Holy crap, this is fucking awesome!

  • You need to start getting a history lesson in music then mate. The music of this era was what i grew up with miles better than the shite kids have nowadays....

  • @elland1979 Not sure I need a history lesson, but that was bloody embarrassing! Told a couple of friends at work and they laughed!

  • top quality sound.. top quality tune. respect to you...

  • this is a blast from the past, love it:)

  • Absolute Classic!

  • Thanks FaithNoMore!

  • @ConnieLynchitz

    Sorry Barb. I mean Nomoar!

  • great song

  • @superstoo77 Thanks for that, mate!

  • kids nowadays listening to rap and american shite just havent got an idea have they

  • @leonaofficial

what about the kids who listen to arcade fire and porcupine tree....the charts where mostly crap back them as well ..at college I was voted mostly likely to reminisce lol

  • @CoylerP The charts back in the late 70s early 80s was far from crap, Sorry its true. The music that had come out in that era has produced some of the best songs ever.Even look at the suggestions box beside this video for example, Buzzcocks, clash, Members, the jam, the specials,XTC. I dont care what people listen to nowadays because everyone has there own music taste and i respect that but the charts back in the 70s and 80s were far from crap.

  • @DanAgger5 i TOTALLY agree

  • @DanAgger5 Yes! But you forgot Dexys and Teardrop.

  • the charts were crap in the 70s and 80s because the good music was ignored by the radio, how often did the pistols get air play, the charts were crap but the music was the best ever,

  • @DanAgger5 Come off it, the charts have been at least 50% full of shite since the 50's.

Don't get me wrong, I fucking hate most modern music and I think the charts have never been in worse shape for fans of decent music, but if you look back at any top 40 from any point in the last 50 years you'll find a good deal of manufactured, diluted piss.

  • @Jarren202 i think
