Whenever I kill mammoths, it doesn't fill a grand soul gem. Also, when I kill bandits and whatnot, it says I don't have a big enough soul gem, but I have like 10 empty grands right now.

@Akteco if you are using the soul trap spell you gotta use it right before you kill the mammoth or find a weapon that automatically cast soul trap (Enchanted with soul trap) and humans and humanoid type monster give off black souls which is bigger then the grand soul, which requires a black soul gem or black star to capture. *Hope this helped.

You can't capture dragon souls unfortunately however giants souls are also considered grand souls along with any high lvl enemies lick draugr death lords also hagravens have a soul that can go into greater and grand soul gems

the rest of this was worthless. If someone has godly sneak and archery skill, chances are they know how to use them. if someone is looking for grand souls chances are they've already captured a few smaller ones and know how to use soul trap

you dont necessarily need to sneak or use a bow, im a level 24 plate wearer with ebony armour and a 2h legendary glass battleaxe, and i have lydia in full orcish armour with a shield and sword and i take down at least 3 or 4 mammoths and 2 giants in one easy go, it just depends on how you play, But thanks alot for the video it really helped!

@TheTeleious once you hit level 20 the shopkeepers start selling more enchanted weapons, visit them every once in a while you might find one

@timmytapeworm13 ur pretty much SOL. U cant stack up souls in a gem and u cant remove them. A soul will always entr the appropriate gem. If u have a lesser soul gem and a greater, and u kill a wolf and steal it soul, it will enter the lesser soul gem. If after that u steal a deer and steal its soul, it would take up ur greater soul gem. A soul wil nevr entr a lowr gem(common soul gem(greater)) but if no other option is available, they will enter a highr gem. Hope this helpd!

Easier way is to perk up Conjuration so that your bound weapons auto cast soul Trap when you kill anything, that way you don't have to worry about making sure Soul trap is charged on the thing you want the soul from

I have a bunch of grand soul gems but it looks like they are filled with "lesser" souls. My question is...Do they continue to fill up with more souls to become a fully charged grand soul gem, or is it a complete waste because once it is filled with a lesser soul it basically just acts as a lesser soul gem. I'm pissed of that I bought all these grand soul gems and they are being filled with lesser souls. Is there a way to regulate which souls fill the proper gems. GRRRRRR......

PLEASE ANSWER! Every gem dissapear after I have filled it and then used it on an enchanted item? And what is the difference between for example petty and grand gems? Is it only the fact that grand filles the item more up? Whats the difference if i use a small on compared to a large on? If I for example uses a Black Gem. Does that mean that my item sort of gets "more space" to fill up with gem compared to if I used petty? The petty goes faster out, but the grand needs more gems to fill up?

@KaiserReich98 black star works the same as black soul gem, it absorbs human souls, but it also absorbs high level creature, while black soul gem only absorbs humanoid souls.

2. Shops or finding them as rewards, such as in dungeons or just on the side of the road.

@AndrewLeBlanc30 nope it will trap the other soul and thats all, but an easy way to discharge a grand soul gems with a lower soul in it, is to just drop it and pick it back up

What GGxBeast said, but choose the duration only as 1 second, as it gives you more charges, if you deliver the killing blow with it, you wouldn't be needing the 6+ other seconds.

@dunderdolt humans have black souls, so some other monsters that have grand souls are dragon priests, Draugr Death OVERLORDS, Falmer Shadowmasters, and certain end-dungeon bosses, but mammoths are the easiest to find. (You can't fill a Grand Soul gem with a human soul)

@ahmada0 I"m pretty sure you need a grand soul gem for a grand soul to be absorbed. I do know that petty soul can go into common or lesser soul gems but common cant go into petty or lesser. buy the gems you want empty to save money, its not hard to get souls.
