  • A truly sad sight :-(

  • Fantastic!!!

  • Mr.Tone once again, all who say something else please read the books and listen rock n roll history here it is!! peace for all

  • Was this a sound check?

  • Sounds like a cheap garage band butchering a Mountain song. Just plain awful.

  • I'm hoping to hear some of this at the Bamboo Room Friday 9PM - Corky Laing and the Memory Thieves....!

  • brilliant performance!

  • Love this band and this version is actually good considering the fact that Leslie could probably break down and die any second.

  • @twylaharp1965 Strange you would say that. One look at him today, 26 years later, and he's considerably lighter, fitter, and healthier.

  • @depper Strange? Why? He´s obviously in no good shape here. But off course I´m happy that he´s made it and that he´s healthier than ever today.

  • Hell Yeah!

  • Excellent upload! I remember Leslie from my old neighborhood in New York.

    Jerry

  • Leslie pretty agile for a big man !..

  • HEAVY HEAVY ROCK N' ROLL !!!...SUPER !!

  • whats with the FBI bullshit?

  • Never In My Live In Paris xD

  • god dammit i needs a studio version HOmey!

  • Leslie in very bad health at this stage of his life.

  • i may get arrested for this

  • Really bad version, sorry

  • This was good fucking Rock music brothers'

  • Great! Trio magic. I was very pleased with dvd.

  • Don´t you think this needs a little more cowbells?

  • GREAT TRACK!

  • Corky always had sticks flying off the stage and into the audience. I never ever seen it happen before until I seen Mountain back in the 70's. It was his trademark. People would clammer to retrieve the sticks. Sora like they do nowadays when a guitar player tosses picks out. But picks are safer.

  • laing XD fucking amazing shit

  • What the hell was that at 1:44??? What did Corky do that pissed Leslie off? I've seen band members pretty much ignore each on stage, but never physically attack or throw shit at each other.

  • @rodentcafeteria Haha relax, thats Leslie and Corky doing what they do best, KICKIN ASS ONstage! See in those days "kicking ass on stage" meant just that. Not no "MTV badasses" here. No makeup to be found. Mountain were and still are VERY aggressive. They are also lifelong friends. Practically brothers.

  • @rodentcafeteria It was Leslie motioning to Corky to toss him a drumstick.Corky tossed the drumstick(without missing a beat, lol),Leslie caught it behind his back and tossed it into the audience! Great rock and great fun!

  • @rodentcafeteria

well... what happened was... Leslie forgot the lyrics and Corky started making fun of him, so he tried to push the cymbal stand on him, and it didn't work, and then he tried to play it off...

  • Corky let his stick goe & aim for Leslie & Leslie would throw a guitar at him. One time I saw Leslie with a cut over his right eye, he smashed Corky with his guitar & stormed off stage.

  • @KevinFL thats a far fatched tale Kevin. Screenshot or it didnt happen...

  • @depper There were no "Screen Shots" 30 yrs ago. You will have to rely on ppl who were there

  • Watching Corky in command of the sticks is the REAL Rock n Roll movie highlight reel!

A VERY hard hitting EXCITING drummer to watch. I got one word for ya, DUCK!!!

  • Leslie is fucked up here beyond belief, but can still play like a motherfucker.

  • Glad he has gotten healthier - his love of life & music is a win win for him and us.

  • Mountain died along with Felix.

  • Doesn't Leslie West look alittle like Andre the Giant sometimes

  • @merman08

    Or Mickey Roark.

  • My uncle used to to drive leslie around in a limo,he'd make my uncle go to the store and he'd have to buy 13 candy bars and 9 liters of coke and pick up leslie

  • O..M..-GOD.

You mean your uncle had to balance 13 candy bars, 9 liters of coke ...

AND PICK UP LESLIE WEST?!?! What was he the strongest man in the world!? ;)

  • I saw Leslie West in a club called the trubador in vegas, early 80s.They had to open the double doors so Les could enter the building! I kid you not!!!

  • I got told off by Leslie for getting Corky stoned before the gig - still got the roach lol!

  • haha my dad's played with leslie west. i think that's pretty awesome. and he's called my house before! haha

  • Saw the original Mountain first at Woodstock, and then back in '72 at the Convention Center in Wildwood, NJ. Met Felix (R.I.P.) and Leslie on the boardwalk that day. Leslie was truly a "mountain". Always a great show.

  • now thats how to stack amps

  • Santa Monica Civic. Zephyr's last gig. Stood With Leslie, Felix, and Corky and watched Tommy,..They knew it for sure! Tommy was IT!

Then I stood With Tommy and David Brown and Watched Mountain. Wow, a great memory.

Mountain was more dynamic then, than now.

I may die sooner than you, but I Saw, Met, or Knew almost every legendary Rocker.

I would not trade my experiences for your youth or riches.

    I lived the magic.

    CHAZZ

  • I went to a couple of Mountain concerts in The Orpheum Theatre in Boston back in the early 70's and they had that place ROCKINNNNN!!!!

  • saw mountain in jersey a few years ago. They were fantastic, leslie still has it.

  • Great stuff. Jeremy Clarkson on bass!

  • Hahahah, love the "FBI WARNING" at the start.

    Mountain rocks.

  • I saw Yes and Emerson Lake and Palmer. Yes blew the joint down. They were great.

  • Saw these guys this same year in Tulsa, some kind of "Legends of Rock tour". That night was Savoy Brown, Iron Butterfly, Mountain, and Grand Funk Railroad. Leslie blew the roof off that place!

  • What was Grand Funk like in person? Who was the best of the bunch that night?

  • Iron Butterfly was a pleasent surprise, very entertaining, but Mountain was best that night hands down. Leslie's tone was HUGE.

  • My friends saw Mountain (early seventies) with Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. They liked Mountain, but said they were too loud. I was into fusion Jazz, but now wish I had seen Mountain and Grateful Dead.

Glad to see Leslie still playing and with all his heart. He still has it! I did see the band Yes, they blew Emerson, Lake and Palmer away. Steve Howe-unbelievable show.

  • saw GF in 70 and my ears are still ringing; loudest band EVER and that took alot louder than THE WHO, DEEP PURPLE or a few other 140 decibel bands from the day!

  • Leslie West is the man, great voice and guitar skills.

  • i love leslie west ,timeless very underestimated rocker!

  • this is the live in paris dvd available on web site

  • Dude, you would suck ANYBODYS DICK for a dime.

  • I would kill for this concert to be released on dvd. Awesome awesome awesome

  • check out my friends band version of this, just bass and drums, awesome. its uploading so just search my channel and look for it, they do better then Mountian

  • great stuff here. Your freinds did good. Better than Mountain though??? BAHAHAHAH... drugged up fools! Not even close baby.

  • well you are certainly proud of your friends and they do a decent job HOWEVER MOUNTAIN they are not...CORKY,LESLIE AND FELIX are legends dude and for good reason.

  • Thats right and even though Mountain will never see the inside of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame it seems, that also makes them CULT HEROES. Add hard rock pioneers, heavy metal pioneers, & maybe the only 60s-70s rock group that never left the Blues... Here's the real algebra: Mountain = Legends

  • AMEN....

  • Comment removed

  • Mountain legends ? That would be CORKY,LESLIE,FELIX and STEVE then......

  • WILD GUYS.....

  • Classic!!! Enjoy because music like this is not made anymore thanks to MTV and rap..

  • it goes to eleven!!!

  • This song absolutely rocks.Nantucket Sleighride one of the great classic albums.

  • Wheres his Les Paul jr?

Leslie is a monster Composer, player& performer.

    This vid is amazing.

  • i like all sorts of music , and have a copy of twin peaks , its a fukin outstanding album, leslie west is a legend!...

  • You guys are laughable. Do you know who you just blocked? I run the Mountain fan club. Everyone who posts Mountain's videos on here know who I am. I ran the first Mountain website back in 1990. They will all tell you I am a huge Mountain and Leslie West supporter, but you guys have been an embarrassment in your poor upkeep of this post, and in your poor judgement on your fanbase.

  • DO YOUR HOMEWORK.

  • lol shut the fuck up and watch the video asshole

  • Ya know I have just shined up an asscheek for you Achilleswar... and you can join the "kiss my ass club" for free.

  • Hi guys, Velmous and Depper, a bit of critiscism is one thing but you have both gone OTT and so have been blocked.

  • @VoiceprintTV what'd they say?

  • Added to favourites, thanks.

  • everything seems awsome but the singing......

  • poor Les forgot the lyrics here.

  • i like mountain in the 70´s

  • Velmoose's book will only be seen on some magazine rack in some crummy gas station by a trailor park in Savannah, GA

  • emad madi libyan...

    mountain

    hot tuna

    budgie/barents

    camel

    my groups

  • Hey Depper, You never commented on the Danish coonection - remember. As a scholar You should know. Take care.

  • Don´t get the message of the velmous guy. Don´t shit him.(Leslie that is )

I´m not a freak ( sorry depper ) but I love the group. Every time someone tramples on your heros it hurts. This is not my natural language and I may have missed something - but for someones sake they were great - opium smack or whatever.

Really like you depper. Thanks for posting.

  • anos 80 foram uma merda até pro mountain, que timbre de bateria horroroso. um cocô!

  • I idolized these guys when I was a teenager. Had a chance to work a show with them a couple of years ago & was totally disappointed. Not very gracious or appreciative. Sometimes it's better if you never meet your heroes!! Ritchie Scarlett was a gentleman!!!

  • I hate to say it but I kinda agree Leslie is one of my favorite 60's guitarists he was heavy as shit for his time but he wasted his career like you said and Corky like always sounded killer Mountain was a badass band very under appreciated....What the hell did Corky say to make Leslie flip out like that? haha

    Rip Felix

  • my friend says these guys arent southern rock..

  • Its heavy blues.

  • This one stuck with me for eons!!!!!! Supa cooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool tune!!!

  • "hiss" ?

  • Do it Leslie! well done.

  • There was a picture in Guitar magazine December 2007/Jan 08 of him with a guitar just like that which was a Washburn

  • One of the best bands ever! Also listen how kick ass the drums sound.

  • This is definately West at his best...fat and very stoned...but playing great. The guitar is great..I think it is a Jackson. Corky in top form. They needed and organist.

  • Nobody cares what you think. You have trashed every Leslie West post. So you like this one song? Go fly a kite with pantyhose on !

  • they both played with jack bruce the ultimate bass player!!!!!!

  • The reason why Leslie throws up his arm is because Corky Launched a drumstick off of the bell of his Ride. Classic Corky Laing trademark LOL

  • What does he throw at his drummer? at 1:42.

He throws his arm up for a block,,,,LOL

  • Pause at 1:43 ,and it looks like Leslie threw a cymbal and stand at the drummer.....LOL

  • God I forgot how freakin fat he was! HAHA, still the ultimate badass!

  • Yea to me Leslie was to guitar what Elvis was to voice. They each played their "instrument ith near suicidal passion... its what set them apart in their respective fields...

  • Like this song a little faster. As for the who is better shit. It is all a matter of taste. There is alot of hot rod guitar players around. don't have any of their albums but I got most of these two guys albums. Always loved the players looking for that one right note at the right time. Like a singer and not a guy on a drill press.

  • West and Clapton played differently. Clapton was much more blues oriented. West was more interested in creating a much harder sound, which later became known as hard rock then heavy metal. West however could mix the two styles and was effective because of his signature guitar tone and vibrato. two great but different players.

  • Clapton & cream Rip off,but I like it!!

  • Hardly a Cream ripoff. Felix P. produced "Disraeli Gears" before he teamed up with Leslie W.

  • He played on Badge & and the Goodbye tour (Cream)I was referencing L.W.play.

  • Fuck!!! Haven't see Leslie west for a while. Man Mountain, that's for sure! Greta playing. LOUD & Proud!

  • Doesn't the bass player use a violin shaped EB-1? I've been wanting one of those for a long time, and I'm willing to pay $1,500 or more for it.

  • Saw Mountain stagefront in 1970 on their "Climbing Tour". They were nothing short of incredible and I've followed Leslie West ever since. Got to meet him 5 years ago back stage and talk to the guy. It was a cool experience and he put on a helluva of a show. Leslie has influenced many legendary musicians including Eddie Van Halen.

  • It is on the website.. look closer.

  • Saw Mountain at the last concert at Gaelic park in the Bronx, leslie wouldn't come on for an encore then mayhem insued. Bottles, cans, and rocks were tossed at the stage for about 5 mins. until police cleared area. I think it was 74? Who remembers the year ey?

  • I saw them in San Diego in 74, can't recall what date. Remembered that they really had the power up and were really cranking out some jam so intense that afterward my ears were ringing like a big dog on the ride home. Anyone have a chronological listing of their 74 tour?

  • This is really cool. can you post Why Dontcha? from this concert?

  • WHERE can I purchase a copy of this DVD? The listed site does not have it. Hey Leslie...I also can't find your teaching video.

  • Was this the period when they opened for the reunited Deep Purple Mk II?

  • April 17 1983.

    R.I.P. Felix Pappalardi.

  • Is Leslie playing a Jackson guitar on this song???

  • Looks more like either a Washburn or Westone perhaps. And for the rest of you who said that Felix 'died'....He was shot by his wife in a domestic dispute 2 years before this concert was filmed.

  • Yes, and she was the Mountain cover artist, too. Apparently Felix was gettin' it on the side, so she got mad, shot him, and also managed to disappear before she could be detained as a suspect.

  • Concerning Felix's murder by his wife. She was and tried for the murder and got off using PMS as an excuse. Outside of the courtroom Limo with her lawyer a photographer took a pic of them sharing some champagne to celebrate her acquittal. The judge saw it in the paper the next day and became furious at the so-called "grieving widow" that he placed a freeze on any and all of Felix's assets so that she could not collect one thin dime. Felix at that point left an estate of about $800,000.00

  • THIS IS GREAT STUFF...LESLIE AT A PEAK. Can someone post the rest of the concert on YouTube...I cannot seem to find it for sale. Leslie, is you are reading this..please get more vintage Mountain video on Youtube. Todd Rundgren has done a wonderful job in this area for himself.

  • When I read you mentioning that Corky Laing has played steadily with Mountain since he joined, I had a flashback to a band called West, Bruce and Laing. That would be Jack Bruce of Cream thrown into the mix. Was that a side project while Mountain was still rumbling along? Ah, if only this fog would lift! ha! ha! Thanks for the posting - it's grrrreat!!!

  • west, bruce & laing were actually something of a side project, yes. check out there first album; not quite mountain, but still has some pretty cool material.

  • i saw west, bruce and laing on good friday 20 april1973 at The Rainbow in N London-startling!jack bruce slung his gibson eb3 bass into the audience at the end of the show, the effect slightly spoiled by a roadie scampering to retrieve it

  • West Bruce and Laing was formed by Felix Pappalardi. Felix's ear, the one that faced Leslie's amp was going deaf and the Doc told him he would lose his hearing if he didn't lay off for about two years. So because of his producing Cream and his association with Jack Bruce as a result, he formed WBL which ROCKED but were ahead of their time and called it quits after a couple LP's but just absolutely fuckin' brilliant music. Actually, they were heavier than any other type of rock in that period.

  • Watch it again. That's not what happened. You owe the great Fatsby an appology. In football terms that was a "Hook and Ladder" play. And by the way the tempo is perfect on this rendition.

Back to the "Play of the day". Corky is hollering to West about doing the stick play. First attempt: toss and a miss. Second play: Corky sends the stick tumbling in the air which Leslie catches and seamlessly backhands into the crowd. Brilliant.

  • Also listen to the "Life In The Fast Lane" by the Eagles quote at the end. The only thing missing from this song is a Les Paul Junior, in my opinion.

If Leslie was on drugs during this song, I want some.

  • Where's the vibrato?!

  • My god. Can't he just play Mississippi queen straight? The original was so fuckin' kick ass, why does he screw it up by being lazy on the beautiful brut force of this piece of music?

  • I don't get what you're asking??? He's playing "Never in my Life" not "Mississippi Queen".

  • Their "Climbing!" album is very cool.

  • around 1:43. does leslie throw something at corky? if he did i wonder what it was and why.

  • This song has one of those classic rock licks that everybody learned back in the day... like "Sunshine Of Your Love" <Dazed and Confused" or een "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" haha. Awesome.

  • Show em HOW ITS DONE Leslie!

The GodFather Of Rock.. The Andre The Giant of Fashion.... The Paul Bunyon of the Axe...

    Rock On baby!!!

  • Leslie West was early influence on my favorite guitar player, Michael Schenker.

  • I actually have the Deep Purple part of this show from French TV. Hopefully it has been released now.

  • CORKY is a great drummer. I saw them with Deep Purple at the Borgata in Atlantic City last year and Corky gives it 154%.

  • Awesome! I have this on bootleg already, but its great to see it is being released properly! Keep it up with the live Leslie!
