  • what year was this

  • he dosent really look like a goalkeeper in a tuxedo :P

  • thumbs up if you saw his scar

  • What a badass.

  • there is a 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of surviving he is the luckiest man alive

  • @saintsrowminecrafter

    you're retarded.

  • thank god you have to wear neck guards now

  • This guy is so lucky.

  • "and...uh...I know you're just dying to get back in there..."

  • "Did you notice right away."

"Actually I didn't, I missed Thundercats that morning and I didn't know if my VCR was working...."

  • Re: the "top comments" (and if they're the "top comments", bless our world ): He doesn't ask "Did you notice it right away?" He asks, "Did you know right away that it was very serious?" Considering that when you get your throat cut you might go into shock or something and not know much of anything, let alone how serious it would be.

  • he shouldn't have tried to move away, that just made his neck more exposed, if anything he should have put his head down to try to get the skate to glance off his mask

  • @iHateYouMostLikely thanks tips

  • @iHateYouMostLikely actually when you bend your neck down your arteries are more exposed rather when you look up your jugular pretty much protects it.

  • He's probably the calmest man alive considering what happened.

  • "I know you're dying to get back in there" Hahah I thought that remark was kind of ironic.

  • "Did you notice it right away?"

    "I don't know, did you?"

*cuts interviewer's neck with a skate*

    What a stupid question...

  • Fuckin gnarly

  • Where am i supppose to get the rest of the video i need it

  • He was out shorter than a baseball player with a hangnail.

  • fuck after seeing that i glad hes okay

  • Does anyone know how long it took him after his injury until he played in his next game?

  • @PavelDatsyuk71

    about 1 week

  • @PavelDatsyuk71 about a week

  • @JAr3dNuN3s Wasn't it like 4 days due to playoffs?

  • Poor Interviewer. It must be hard to be so stupid and ask stupid questions on National Television.

  • it's so awesome to see this guy joking about the incident and honestly wanting to get back to work only a week later...the footage from that cut he took is fucking crazy...why can't people put their alliances aside and just be happy for this guy?...he survived every players worst nightmare...

  • "Did you notice it right away."

"No, I just assumed the blood running down my neck came from one of the blues players."

  • @WaxenMeatpatty HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Spoken like a true Sabres fan! (not to make light of the seriousness of the injury though, but good one!)

  • i love my cheesy!!!!!

  • Q. When the incident happened, did you know right away that it was very serious?

    A. Yeah I knew it. My first clue was the GODDAMN BLOOD GUSHING OUT OF MY FUCKING NECK!

  • "i bet your dying to get back in there..."

    literally. haha

  • "Did you know right away that it was very serious?"

"I had blood shooting from my throat, when the fuck is that ever a minor injury?"

  • "Did you know right away that it was very serious," not "Did you notice it right away."

These are two very different questions.

  • @KookelMcJiggs He had blood shooting out of his neck like a goddamn fountain. Either way, it's a stupid question.

  • aboot!

  • the guys asks if he knew right away that it was very serious, not did he notice (that he was cut). there's a difference. sometimes in a high adrenaline situation a split second injury might take the player a moment to realize what happened. clint even said he had to check to see if he was bleeding so obviously he did not know how serious it was. so stop bashing the interviewer. it was a valid question.

  • @lawnmowerman7 And seriously. When u see so much blood and when the blood is sipping out like from a bottle of milk. Then ofcourse you directly ralize that theres something serious. Why do u think he answered: YES???!!! It was a stupid question for sure.

  • i was ready to moo out there....hahaha

  • hahahaha nooo clint, getting your throat slashed is not part of the game. thankfully he is alright though

  • "Did you notice it Right away?"

"NO..I was busy trying to find out what that red stuff was on the ice"

  • scary, props for the guy stepping on the ice again. Respect all your athletes (except aavery) people!!

  • @arkham335 I'm with you for this whole comment. Especially the Avery part. Haha

  • you must have what i have on video 3 different views plus this...i got it on someones homemade faces of death tape...clint was never the samw after this...i cut my achilles tendon when i was 12..my god blood was spewing from me! he is a goalie coach for the blue jackets last i knew...

  • Abooout, ooout, aice.. Been watching HIMYM, now I get it, hahaha. Also, "I bet you're dying to get oout there". You don't say that to someone who just got their throat slashed.

  • Clint is a hero. He was so quick to respond and fight for his life, it's amazing. And he's ready to go back to his game! So inspiring.

  • dying to get back in there....nice choice of words

  • good reaction on his part! and the doctors were right there within 5 seconds, too.

  • did u notice it right away? no u fucking stupid i went home and watched tv and relized my throaght is bleeding!

  • Hey Mom, I got you and dad front row seats to today's game! Wish me luck!

  • i honestly wonder if it hurt

  • @antivideogamer probably not it was all so fast he probably past out before he started to feel things

  • @FOOoZ3963 Dude have you not seen the video? He doesn't pass out. He walks away, on his own two feet with blood gushing from his neck!

  • @antivideogamer I've been severely cut on my right arm by broken glass and it didn't hurt at all, honest! The cut on my arm happened real fast (so does Clint's injury) so I guess he felt that a skate went to his throat but I'm convinced that the cut itself wasn't painful.

  • @antivideogamer you don't feel it

  • malarchuk is fucking awesome

  • malachuk is fucking awesome. I wanna meet him

  • walk it off :D naww jus playin, thank god you survived

  • when the guy asked did you notice right away, it is a valid question. THe body releases a natural painreliever when stuff like this happens so you might not notice it right away. This pain reliver is the reason why emos slit their wrists(so they can get high off the substance), and why you dont feel it right away when you stub your toe. The pain reliever and the shock he was probably in could have attributed to him not noticing it.

  • "I was ready to moo out there."

  • Best quote "I bet you're dying to get back out there"

  • lucky sob haha!

  • My mom showed me tape of this game to keep me out of hockey but i guess I'm to stubborn I still wanted to play Clint inspires me to keep going no matter what happens (:

  • @jennigirl59 lol me 2. this kinda scares me but i love hockey and dont want 2 give her the satisfaction

  • cheevers,he probally bet if he was going to live or die with his bookie.

  • i was ready to moo out there

  • crazy stuff. Thank god malarchuk was alright. It's a little surprising this doesnt happen more often

  • "I guess you're dying to get back in there" HAHAHA nice pun

  • wow

  • oh my god, so he reached inside his throat and plugged the lower half of his carotid!!

  • 2:28 that is a nasty scar. thank God he survived.

  • This guy is a beast

  • only two goalies would be insane enough to be joking about such a thing so shortly after it happened! Goalies are a weird group of people but thank god we have em

  • "are you "dying" to get back out there?" wow choose your words better.

  • i wonder why canadians use 40 year old sets to broadcast from

  • @edawg00 this was in the 80s dumbass

  • @edawg00 sure i hate canada just as much as the other guy, like justin beiber, but this was in the 80s DUMBASS!!!

  • best question: did he continue to save on that match? xD

answer to musingmike and mjn76 : these interviews are planned way before the actual shot that's why he could give an immediate answer to that stupid question. often not even the interviewer writes the questions he asks.

  • not a hockey fan but that clint one word BALLS great recovering from that hit that was very nasty

  • IIRC he was a rodeo bull rider. Those guys are some of the toughest people on earth. If it's true, then you know why Clint was able to stay calm. Total bad ass.

  • I was about to moo out there! This guy is freaking insane. He is the biggest badass I've ever seen lol.

  • can someone fire that interviewer? how do YOU feel when your throat is cut open?

  • "Did you notice it right away?"

"What? All the blood in my body shooting out of my neck? Yeah sorta."

  • i can see his scar on his neck

  • @emiranda2491 are you superman?

  • @TheWhiskeyhead are u blind? watch at 2:28

  • @shikhouse wtf.. i was joking.. of course i see the scar, you can set it during the entire video..

  • "I'm not concerned with Clint Malarchuk reacting negatively."

What a douche. He was humble enough not to reitterate the fact he almost lost his life.

  • wtf....did you know it was very serious!??!!? oh no...the blood pouring out of my neck, just that i had a paper cut..... man this interviewer is a fucking idiot.

  • Slaughtering cows???? WTF?!?!?!?

Well, that's the reality of farm life I suppose.

  • squirting out? that was literally pouring out! Malarchuk is dead on lucky he knew to get his hand up there to hold the area. otherwise he would have been dead before they got him off the ice!

  • How it would have gone if I were Malachuk.

    "Did you notice right away."

    "Are you fucking stupid?"

  • @Thumper17 Hey c'mon Thumper. That's Gerry Cheevers man! Stanley Cup Champ from St.Catherines Ontario. Have a little respect eh. He's only asking questions that are presented to him to ask the guest,by his higher ups.

  • Clint had the right attitude. It's like someone who survived from a very terrible car accident. The sooner that person can get behind the wheel is the best.

  • He is of Russian ancestry, that's why he survived

  • what kind of a question is that to ask someone who went through such a traumatic experience? an incredible amount of poise was held by that man as he rolled with a question that was brought up in such bad taste...

  • Yup.. Those are Canadians alright.

  • dude wtf is up with...everything? this looks like something back in the 80's

  • @OMGDUDEWTH 89

  • @OMGDUDEWTH thats cuz it happened in 89 lmao

  • farm wow wat a dick

  • I dont want to hear about how a cow is killed!! wtf

  • He's Canadian. Enough said :P

  • @DJK290 What you don't have cows in USA?

  • @domdom111111

I'm Canadian. I don't know where you get off calling me an American.

  • @pistolpete111 thanks i was confused bout what he was trying to do

  • Hockey players are the toughest mofos in sports!

  • @sritger ufc fighters r

  • wow do you believe in miracles.

  • traumatizing all I can say...

  • i love his accet! *.*

  • hey iv'e eaten breakfast with Gerry Cheevers. haha

  • good job gerry, you are a fucking shitstain of a broadcaster, maybe you and that asshole drunk derek sanderson, can go bowling together, what a joke

  • The interviewer is Gerry Cheevers.

  • "i know you're dying to get back in" wow nice LOL

i sure hope they made the neck gaurds much thicker

  • im glad hes ok!

  • Hdudbdjdnsiusuahajajajhrijfndjdjbrr

Holy Christ. Why is this my favorite sport again? Whenever I watch this, I get so paranoid at practice haha. Blech

  • I Know you are just dying to get back in the lineup. Nice choice of words.

  • literally

  • these r people who r blessed with bravery....long live

  • what does his neck look like after?

  • You can see the wound at 2:28 pretty clearly just before he says ' My Mum will be watching this'

Amazingly fortunate when you consider how serious this injury was.

  • who is the interviewer here?

  • Looks Like Gerry Cheevers

  • This is one of the reasons why im not a huge fan of playing hockey cause what if that happens to you i mean thats just something you cant control you can control someone elses skates or actions

  • @SurvivorAddict403

Injuries and risks come with anything you do. Everytime I step on the football field I risk paralyzing myself. Everytime you get into a car, you risk dying. The chances of what happened here are MUCH less than the chances of someone getting in a car accident and dying. You can't control someone else's driving, just like they can't control another person's skates.

  • A neck protector will not protect you in all cases. Thats why most goalies should wear a dangler as well. With a neck protector, if the goalie looks up or extends his head, enough of a gap will be created that a skate could get through. With the dangler, the skate has to get under it to do damage. Thats why i wear both when i play. Take no chances. Goalie equpment is meant to protect the goalie when he is in his stance or facing the puck.

  • @mad3rab Right and back then, the neck protectors were so narrow they were virtually useless

  • 2:28 shows it best, I think. What a cut...

  • They have neck protectors but in the nhl they dont have to wear them

  • 1:25, Under His Chin. Is That The Cut?

  • yes, you can see the shadow somewhere but i know where you meen, most likely yes

  • they should invent a neck protector for hockey

  • wow, comeplete fail dude.

  • lol

  • FYI there is one (i)

  • sorry im behind with my sports :L

  • to

    mattz456 they already did

  • Invent? It's mandatory in Sweden to use neck guard for all players. So it is already invented but its very uncomfortable to use.

  • I remember that. He was a minute or two away from dying. Thank goodness the medical staff got to him in time.

  • Its part of the game ?? It's not part of the game to almost die !

  • The Interviewer Is GERRY CHEEVERS ...former Bruins Goalie

  • My uncle had the same thing happen to him i think it was when he played junior, he wasn't a goalie but he has a huge scar across one side of the front of his neck

  • erm..fellow youtubers, i seriously think we should inform the funny farm looney unit that their escaped mental patient is on tv pretending to be a news reporter...poor man.... so bad it's funny..., clint, well done for not lamping him one when he referenced your farm upbringing, i would've, tosspot...

  • I'm glad you are doing fine Clint Malarchuk. Such a horrible accident, fortunately you are fine.

  • As someone who has gone to school for journalism everything about the interview was just plain wrong. Here are the questions I would have asked

Within seconds the trainer was there what was he telling you to do?

Were you conscious on the way to the hospital? Were you aware of what was going on?

Did they ever tell you how much blood you actually lost? It was Steve Tuttle's skate and a total fluke. Have you spoken to him at all?

  • That interviewer looks like a de-fore skinned penis head

  • wow. he dosn't even sound different.

  • "You've watched cattle being slaughtered. Did [that] help you at all?"

Somehow, the newsmedia attracts some of the biggest imbeciles on Earth.

  • @mjn76 I would have loved to jump on that stage and slice that interviewers throat and see if he moo's

  • This was a fluke injury. Had this not have happened we still wouldn't have neck guards today.

All it takes is that one time for people to go batshit crazy

  • Neck guards were already mandatory in minor hockey when this happened.

They just made a better effort to improve their design after this.

  • When I watched the video it scared this fucking shit out of me. x(

  • dont be mad at me but im not a big fan of hockey. of course ill watch it but when i saw this man holy shit i realized how tough hockey reallly is. huge props TO MALARCHUK!

  • I'll always remember Malarchuk saying that that "now I have a place to put my pencils"...lol....

  • that interviewer is a bastard. the farm question was completely out of line for one.

  • @musingmike why do you say that?

  • @musingmike huh? at 1:50 Malarchuk says they spoke of it outside, so what'

s out of line about it?

  • @jeepnutnh he probably didnt actually talk about it before he just handled him self well like raptor45 said, it was a dumb question and he answered well, probably not a true answer, maybe it is WHO KNOWS

  • @musingmike you're an idiot, clint clearly relished answering the question. the interviewer was courteous on all accounts. muse on that, mike.

  • @musingmike the interviewers laughed and so did clint...so fuck you

  • @musingmike Na!!! It was a good question for animal Lovers, It was like saying "See how it feels?"""

  • @musingmike It was a relevant question although maybe a bit out of place. That's Gerry Cheevers. It's probably true that being around the sight of blood on the farm kept Clint calm. The sight of ones own blood can often cause shock and panic which elevates the heart rate.

  • @SCROGY Yep. Actually, when it happened, 7 people fainted and 5 people had a heart attack in the crowd.

  • Lmao,

    -4?

I seem to have angered the Canadians.

  • Shoudl have been you fag.

  • I sliced your whore of a mother like that. Cunt

  • Wow back to the mom jokes? Cool, glad you can think of a amazing come back bud. Good for you.

  • thanks. I appreciate your support. More people should be like you.

  • Terrible interviewer. The guy is a fucking cocky idiot.

Malarchuk handles himself well in this one, though. Give the guy mega props for having his throat sliced open, and recover so fast to put on a pair of skates and engage in the game again. A true hockey player.

  • @Raptor45 Exactly a TRUE hockey playerr

  • man that guys a douche obviously no brains at all Malarchuk was awesome in this interview. but the dude says werid stuff and ask him retarted things that are almost like a joke to him

  • this fkn stupid guy dirtyghettokids5

  • I'm so glad he made it out okay. He's a great goaltender and person. He handled the situation very mannerly. The last question was wierd and at 2:22 I agree with NYGSD about his comment.
