  • take a grinder to the tire and have a second pair of hands turn the tire and you go to town till the chain clears ....you have to watch the movie fastest indian staring anthony hopkens.....he cuts about 2 inches of tread to clear the frame with a bread nife lol...

  • @jessiahrobinson I've seen that movie, haha! :)

  • just make new spacers dude

  • @150peacemaker This was May 2010, watch the rest of the parts after this. Making new spacers was exactly what I did. But it doesn't solve the problem of the tire being much larger than it should be.

  • what had to be done to get the rim on there?

  • @DecaPierce A LOT of machining to the left side of the wheel to flatten the cush drive and the sprocket carrier, custom spacers, and a custom caliper bracket on the right side.

  • Talon off set the rim by 5mm when they spoke up their wheels ;)

  • @fastfilli I'd love to do that, but can't with cast wheels, lol! :) Thanks for that though, lots of haters believe that the bike won't ride worth a damn when that was done. Its nice to see the big boys doing exactly that!

  • Hi Mate . I think the reason that your having problems with the tyre is because the 150 is made to fit a 4.5" rim max , anymore than that and the sidewalls are forced out and the profile flattens making it wider, if you deflated the tyre and push it off the beads and measured it it would be a 150. Not sure but isn't the f2 rim a 5" ? for a 4.5" of the same pattern try a honda nsr250 mc21 rear

  • @43Revhead The rear F2 rim is 4.5" but the F3 rim is 5". The problem is resolved in a later video that you may watch. I did some clever re-spacing and made it work!

  • @wrangomonger That would depend on the size of the wheel. In this case the tire is one size SMALLER than the CBR600F2 rear wheel that I have installed here would normally have on it. Sure I can still go smaller yet, but I risk deformity of the tire. Besides, with the kind of torque this thing lays down I'm gonna be happy to a larger contact patch.

  • yeh sorry mate, thought id cancelled the comment, I noticed the cast wheels after id sent it. What a muppet eh :) Hmm yeh makes things a bit more awkward.

  • @Disizwilly Haha, its ok! Leave it up though, it might help someone else with a similar problem that has spoked wheels! :)

  • Iv got a battleaxe 150 on my cr500af and all i did was offest the wheel until it cleared by a bit (go round all the spokes on the chain side and slacken half a turn at a time and then tighten the other side half turn, keep doing this half turn at a time til uv got enough) and my bike handles really nicely still. Mines got very slight scuffs on it but nothing bad. Also run a non o ring chain, this saves a fair bit of room.

  • @Disizwilly Thats exactly what I did... but because I have cast wheels I moved the wheel about 4 to 5mm to the right. There are no spokes to adjust. I created another video, but had issues with it. I will record another this weekend.

  • nice bike m8 looks awesome cant wait to see the finished project

  • the 150mm is from heel to heel :)

bridgestone made em wider to ride like a 160

these are my fav tires , i run them on my cr500 for monobike ;)

  • Just ignore the tire getting into the chain. I had a 160tire on my ktm 520 and it worked fine. Someone i know of used 170 with a higher profile and that also worked out. Or you can cut some of the tire on the side. But your chain is not THAT tight to the tire so i would just give a F.&%¤ and drive the beast:)

  • @bilbombe I think I've decided to do a little massaging to the rear, then trim down the tire if its still necessary. I will also install some type of custom roller... More on this as I move forward. :) Thanks for the suggestions!

  • @vvtheduckvv ok, but why make some much work for a tinytiny problem? i can assure you it will work flawless. I have seen chess patterns in tires because of the chain. 3-4mm into the tire.

Anyway, cool to watch your project. Keep it up!

  • @vvtheduckvv

hi man i came from italy in my opinion you can by a chain without o.rings and probably the problem is resolved!!

  • @filippo94328 Thanks! Thats actually a very good idea! I fixed the problem already though, I spaced out the sprocket on the left and thinned the spacers on the right to make the space that I needed. It all works now! :)

  • I put ice racing tires on my cr500 and had the same problem with the studs hitting the chain. I made two "L" shapped pieces of medal that had two chunks of round delrin and bolted it to the swingarm via the already available slider holes. Worked good once i got them locked down (kept vibrating loose). But if you had two tall rollers it would be even better.

  • @kptkyle Thanks for that! I've been thinking tall rollers, too. I also think I can machine off a little more metal from the caliper mount and get 1mm to 2mm more out of it. Might be just enough to fix the rubbing!

  • id try to shim the tire over to the left and add some washers where sprocket bolts to hub maybe ? or get smaller tire

  • @4g63junkie Good suggestion, but no room to shim anything! Its over as far as it can go!

  • Have you seen any of the videos by Roland Sands??

  • @Lvids91 Sure have, I added him as a friend on here.

  • can't exchange it?

  • @insanegeniuses It was a special order, and it was mounted. I'm not one to be a jerk, know what I mean? I'm going to ask anyway, though.

  • How did you measure the tire. Im not an expert, but i think they measure the inside of the tire and not the outside diameter.

  • @The66StangMan Measurements are from another 150 tire!!!!!!!! I dunno how worn it was though, but it sure didn't look THAT bad... I'm going to check another for consistency anyways.

  • @vvtheduckvv Ohh, thats weird then. So where did you come across the motor?

  • @The66StangMan Ebay, baby! Check out my Part 3 video, I discuss what parts I used and costs.

  • @vvtheduckvv NIce, well good luck on your project, cant wait to see the finished project. That is gonna be one of the most badass bikes i've seen on youtube. Ohh, I also just subscribed, congrats on the 200 mark

  • @The66StangMan 259 now, I am away for one weekend and 59 subs!

  • dam dude well do what u do youll figure it out

  • @ranchero302me Yep, I'm thinking I might shave a little off of the brake brakcet on the right side, and bump the wheel over a few millimeters to the right, then use a few washers to push the sprocket outwards to the left and add a thicker spacer to the left side. It'll be slightly off center, but close enough for government work!

  • lol nice.

  • @Parthurs Weeeeeeee!

  • Thats what I do with computer parts :) Well good luck on finding a solution for this issue.

  • @Parthurs LOL! Me too! I'll get a video of my office later today to show.

  • so is this project on a hard budget? :) Maybe ebay your current tire to finance the new one. :)

  • @Parthurs Everything is on a budget these days. I'm also just the kind of guy to make what I have on hand work. Thats one of the reasons for this Frankenbike project to begin with! Use up the crap I had around the garage! :)

  • @dmaheryfz450 Need an extreme side burnout, and hope the chain doesnt derail itself.

  • Damn that sucks. how much would a real 150 tire set you back?

  • @Parthurs I guess about $150-$200

  • buy a new tire that fits

  • @blairaudio Thanks, that might be what I do. If a 140 is oversized to a 150, similar to how my 150 is a 160, that might be a good idea.

  • i would never shave that tire ... you might shave too much and get screwed

  • @77toyota I don;t want to shave it anyway, just for cosmetic value it doesn't sound appealing.

  • is there anyway to shim the front and rear sprocket? I know the front is on a shaft but maybe a washer or something.?

  • @Parthurs The front sprocket is offset and I've tried to turn it around backwards for a little extra room... no difference. The rear sprocket has absolutely no room for spacers. It is about 1mm from grinding into the swingarm. VERY TIGHT TOLERANCES back there!

  • ahhh.... I wouldn't worry about it! It'll wear the tire out in that section, and it'll be like all new again! LOL

  • @mbyr31 Someone else said that, too, haha. Just let it break itself in!

  • Hi . I've had these tyre's aswell . I agree They're a pain in the arse . On past build's i've spaced the rear sprocket by 8mm and same with engine sprocket . But evan this depend's on what the bik's clearence limit's are . Knowing me i'de go for a 140 tyre . All the best with the build . It's looking good .

  • @terence20001 Unfortunately I don't have even 1mm to give it. Originally I had 5mm of space and everything worked fine, until I got the new retardeded tire.

  • 150 tyres is a 160 lmfao and you can shave the tyres so your ok same happend to my brothers gsxr1000

  • @dmaheryfz450 I'm not sure if I want to shave it, I might see what I can do to make it fit better.

  • Get an old BMX tire and slap it on, no one will ever notice!! haha!

  • @5timestwisted Great idea, but I think the CR500 engine will tear it to shreds on the first hard accell... LOL! Would make for a great YouTube video though.

  • @vvtheduckvv ... fuk'n eh, 1 Million hits on youtube, put a little green in your pocket to buy another tire, and mabie one of them bear suits to protect yer ass when you try it for the first time!! Peace!

  • @5timestwisted Awesome! I can be one of those perverted furry people... on a motorcycle! YAYYYYYY! :)

  • @vvtheduckvv .. lol, no slappy .. one of them bear prevention suits, safety first as you know!! lol

  • @5timestwisted Well, I'm sure that you can get a furry bear suit with a furry wang cover attached... and should you go after a bear with your furry wang out, they'll surely run off!
