When the explosion first happened, the media was telling everybody it was a plane crash. This is probably what he heard, so he said it too, believing the media. You guys are fucking retarded

If the original asker was wondering where the YouTube building is and had to specify "USA" then I would say its safe to assume that they are clearly not from San Bruno or anywhere near it, so in their perspective, it was, in fact, very, very close to what had happened, less than a 3 minute drive easily tops.

San Bruno in the Crestmoor Canyon area. 6:05 PM gas line explosion and fireballs. Heard on news it's a 30" Natural Gas pipeline that ruptured and backflowed into homes. Gas line has been turned off. Pipeline was built in 1948. 13 mph winds but gusts at SFO are 21 mph. Fog has not rolled in yet 9:32 PM. 650-616-7180 call for care, loved ones. Man, from the neighborhood reports that he's smelled gas from the sewers from several days before. PG&E said it wasn't a problem. Flames over 200 feet tall.
