i would like to comment because im now faced with a similar situation. adn i was not a drug user or addict. unusual circumstances led for me to be rendred into a state similar to this but more fucntional.i can not do things that are needed to survive . i was a very active athletic gifted music aritst in nyc art scene. i had a few people in my ife who had intentions of doing evil to me. some of them bragged about it. most of them had drug issues and wanted someone to abuse.
This is such a hard decision for a loved one to make. I believe Lauren's parents should meet with trained professionals to come up with agreed upon solution that everyone can live with. Whatever that decision is they shouldn't second guess themselves or feel guilty. The family may want to think about letting Lauren save others by sharing her story with impressionable teens contemplating drug use. God Bless.

The vultures might come for you someday and those final directives you are relying on won't mean a hill of beans if they need your heart or your kidney. Even in Amerika.
It would be wrong to murder Lauren, just as it was wrong to murder Terri Schiavo. Being so shallow as to be disgusted by brain injured people does not justify murdering them. Murder is always wrong, even when used to cover up other sins. Evil cannot justify more evil. Hatred toward those who need help does not justify murder. Only people with less brain capacity than those they wrongly accuse of being vegetables could be stupid enough to believe evil thoughts justify evil deeds.
btw peeing, pooping, drooling on yourself, unable to choose when you awake in the morning,shower,eat, brush your hair, whether or not a video of you is played on youtube, ....where is the quality of life?....i agree with u lauren, i would NOT want to live that way either! You may have od'd but no one deserves this! I hope you have peace in your life, I have taken care of people like you & thier lives are filled with little joy, unrealistic families, and alot of pain. Babies do all the things you name, and they somehow have "quality of life," except when they're in the womb of course. Then, any mother who consents to, can hire someone to have them killed.
The reality is if she can breath on her own and can learn to eat, allowing her to die is murder. Period. Quit relating this to yourself. It skews what is right and wrong. I know people that have all their faculties and they dont what to live. See, it has nothing to do with quality of life and everything to do with life itself. The whole Terri Schiavo episode was a sad pock on American history. The ridiculous 'emergency' meeting of Congress was wallowing in the nastiest of politics. Let's not revisit that.

But to put her picture out there to public when she's in a state like that... I would hate it. I think that is the wrong thing to do.
Just my opinion, and his supporters' opinions just happen to differ. I would never do this to my daughter.
