WUNDERBAR lesson, but not actually being a piano player, how do you play the octaves in relation to the chorus bit? is it between the thinggummys (don't know how to describe) or??? Thanks in advance!
@FisxherTV I used to always have the same problem, then I realised that you need to learn a small section of the song, both hands at a time and it is so so so so much easier. Try it next time you want to learn something because it is always very difficult once you are already in your position.
@FisxherTV Drink a beer and shout at something, that helps. ;P
I always try it very slowly at first - normally so slow that you couldn't even recognize the melody. Then step by step a little bit faster. And finally almost without looking at the notes.
i think for the second part where it's "building up", if you will, i the left hand octaves should not be "B, G, B, A, B, G, B, A". the way my ear would want it is "B, G, B, A, (lower B), E, B, C#". try it.
From 4:25 it goes much too quickly. In the beginning, you repeat everything once, and later, while playing with both hands you repeat some key combinations repeatedly.
@MisterPenguinMusic there are a specific blocks that can play notes when hit or powered by redstone, they form a 13 (correct me If i'm wrong) note span and by laying these, redstone and repeaters you can make a song
@MisterPenguinMusic Good question, learned this recently. Maybe composition wasn't the best word for it (perhaps "piece" or "score), but basically a song is written to mainly focus on the singer, weather it be one or a quartet, and a composition on the orchestra. Now even though this piece contains singing, it's mainly a choir. That's not to say that all tracks containing orchestras are compositions, but in most cases the inclusion of an Orchestra = composition.
Ok, I have figured out the best way to play this on a 29-key keyboard. During the intro, you play the right hand properly and the left hand only with one finger (so, basically, just one note of it instead of two). Then, during the chorus, you play the full left hand, but an octave up.
@GrubyTolek Well I can't help you there without changing the song. I guess you could play the A chord at a lower inversion, but it would sound quite a bit different. If you've got 29 you're definitely going to have a problem with my full version.
Eh, I can't play piano AT ALL, never learned, I've got an old dusty Casio keyboard and my goal is to learn to play this before Skyrim comes out! Who's with me?
Just so you know, you got the left hand accompaniment wrong, it should go B G A E, not B G B E like you did in the video. Otherwise well done on this tutorial :)
You're entitled to your opinion, and I have no issue with that. But do not be surprised when people disagree with it.
My OPINION, is that the harmony is bland enough without making the progression even simpler. eg. i - VI - i - iv is less interesting than i - VI - i 4/2 - iv is a small change.
@MisterPenguinMusic The other "issue" with the arrangement is the prevalence of open 5ths in the melody. It does sound a bit off, perhaps, but 'tis the nature of things when reducing an orchestral score, so I'd say that it's not something to be too concerned about....
But, friendly criticism is helpful. Don't take this the wrong way. Good job on this. Just thought I'd try and help a wee bit (things to think about for future projects).
@GrubyTolek Sort of. Maybe. I had planned to, but I lost interest in the song. I'm going to get negative votes on this comment... Just so people know, if I ever do the full version don't expect it to be accurate like my first version. It will be very much an interpretation.
Probably if I can learn to play THIS well I'll be able to figure the missing part out from what I hear. I'd still want to hear your full interpretation tho.
Ugh :( I was practicing the song and finally got the intro down, only to realize the chorus goes 3 keys beyond the capabilities of my 29-key keyboard...

I've figured out the best way to play it on a 29-key-keyboard. The way to do it is:
-During the intro, you only play the upper note of the left hand, simply with one finger; it still works.
-Then, when the chorus comes in, you play the full left hand, but you move it an octave up.
This way, you're getting all the needed notes into the song and it really works well.
