  • Very precise word usage and good vocabulary, also high quality mic, THANK YOU FOR A CLEAR AND PLEASANT TUTORIAL.

  • amazing tuto. tks

  • really thankful to u ...thinking to subscribe but before that .looking for more 3ds max beginner tutorial.. where is your playlist....?thanks again ..keep the good work up.... :)

  • From now... You are my personal Jesus. First 2 minutes of your tutorial saved me 1week of searching.

  • Thanks man. This helped me fix a major mistake I made with one of my recent works, without losing a whole hour's worth of work.

  • how did you un-select only one vertex when you had all three selected,, and you only needed two without loosing the previous selection¿

something like alt + click, shift+click or what?

  • @pistolo001 CTRL + ALT + Click

  • I need to know how to creat a vertex right in the middle of a line or segment. Thxs

  • @NearTheLimits found it how.

  • say, this is really cool, but im trying to weld multiple objects together how would i do that?

  • cool

  • i've never dragged to weld, i just click one point then another with target weld on. But do you have tips for sharpening edges? For example when I turbosmooth for a look it looks way to soft, when i camfer it looks a mess..

  • @TheOv3rlordK1ng I've answered your question in a video I've just posted on my you tube channel. Take a look!

  • i've never dragged to weld, i just click one point then another with target weld on. But do you have tips for sharpening edges? For example when I turbosmooth for a look it looks way to soft, when i camfer it looks a mess..

  • I'm having to use 3DS as part of my training course... boy does it suck when youve used Softimage for years.. oh well, my fault I guess!

  • Great video, thanks a lot!

  • If anyone would like this program, I have a new, legal unused key. I thought I'd need it, but apparently not. Retail's $3,500. I'd just like some return on it. Under $500 is fine. Message me with a price if you're interested. I'll provide you with proof and such.

  • Yay! Needed to figure out how to merge edges and switched to vertices instead. Thank you!

  • Brilliant tutorial, simple but well explained. Thank you

  • how do i add vertex in mesh? is there a shortcut key to it?

  • Thanks a ton man!!

  • ive been trying to figure this out for a while :P thnx

  • Press "Undo". Lol.

  • Thanks buddy perfect. Sometimes its the most intuitive way of doing things is the last thing I try

  • How can I select, say, those 9 front Faces, and turn them into one square face (of the same size, not what you did here)

  • How do I weld from 2 different object to one?

  • you can GROUP two objects together... if your looking for that, go to the top of the program under Group.

  • HOW DO U ADD VERTICIES

  • @photonarbiter

One of the way that you can add verticies is ofcourse you can add the segs under the modifier when you first make the model before turning it into the editable poly...

but if u've already turned it into an editable poly, you could select the polygon of the area you want to add the verticies and click quick slice to cut it..that way it can create a new vertex :)

the qiuck slice is just below extrude and all :)

    hope that helps! :)

  • @photonarbiter select mid point of edge and insert vertex

  • @grafik248 what?

  • @photonarbiter

    use cut tool i think

  • @photonarbiter when you've converted it to a poly, you can select the edges, and use the cut tool to add more. Not sure if this is what you are asking though

  • great tutorial!

  • can u just use colapse to join them

  • Thanks helped me alot!

  • Nice tutorial, but I would reccomend filming in HD, I can't see your option on the right.

  • in case you didnt notice this is a very old tut before HD was avalible and i dont think he has made any since this, i just thought i would let u know :D

still a very good tut 5/5

  • add"&fmt=18" to the end without the quotations

  • or just press the HQ button

  • major catastrophic problem - undo ?

  • I am gonna have some tutorials soon stay tuned to my acount

  • I wish you were my lecturer..

  • your an asshole.

what if you collapse and then near the final touches later realized you totally fucked up?

Then youd do major catastrophic damage. And the thing about 3ds max is the amount of undos your able to do. Once the max amount of undos is reached then your fucked you shithead.

  • wow ok but for what you did all you had to do was click on undo i think you where just trying to make it look a little hard and impress some of the noobies. srry for the beginners.

  • Even though you helpfully critiquing we appreciate it. Though with you negative comments, you are the one who is intimidating the newbies ;]

  • well im not trying to but, sometimes the best advice comes from places you would last look.

oh well half the time i get negs cause of my name but, thats got nothing to do with what we were talking about.

  • True. Atleast word it in a way so its doesnt have such negative connotations. You name. Its out of the question, i didnt even notice it was that haha. But yea.

  • yeah maybe i started on that a little harsh.

  • perhaps i envoked you to.

    my apologies.

  • same here friend.

  • it cant stay yellow why?? :(

  • Dude, all you have to do is CTRL+Z hat bitch to undo it. And that's basic stuff! This guy basically said that if you were to accidently weld a heap of vertices together, you would have to manually fix the problem. That's a very misleading statement for beginners!

  • I'm pretty sure you would notice if you messed up on a collapse... By the way, why'd you call me a jock? Ohhh.... my name, yeah the next time, you should read a person's profile before making idiotic claims like that. Also, I've said this to a lot of Youtuber's like you and I think I'll say it again, try to use proper english on your next dumb comment. Thanks.

  • May i point out that you can't ACTUALLY die in hell.

Oh, and may i also point out that you need to chill. Out.

  • Would it have been already too late to weld if I've already rigged and skin my model?

(I'll find out tomorrow anyway, but just wondering)

  • THANK YOU Überly-much.

  • Thx goot tut, but it's not "easy" just go and weld verts that you dont need, you must be careful to have all quads.

    Cheers!

  • that clicking is maddening..

  • great tutorial!! i like this 3ds max program!

  • Thanks for the insight.

  • Thank you very much for putting this tutorial up.

    Very useful :)

  • Good tutorial. Yes, Max does work on vista. I'm using it right now.

  • id depends wich dvd you got..

i have older dvd of 3ds max 9 and it doesn't work so i have to download some patch or shit like that

  • DO ANYBODY NO IF 3D MAX WORKS ON VISTA

  • It doesn't. I'm sorry. :(

We share the same infirmiary, friend.

  • yea, it does work on vista..well- it did for me

  • id does workkk just download that new shit...

  • it does...I bought my computer and it already had Vista. I have 3d max 2008 and works fine. Any questions...contact me.

  • I got it working too! Right click on the icon and go to properties>compatiblity and run in Windows XP mode.

  • Vista ok

Maybe you need to set your color depth do 16 bit.

  • 3DS Max 2008 works perfectly fine on Vista x32.

  • that was awesome

hey, do you think you can tell me how to recover my vertex?

for some reason, i cant see my vertex when i go into vertex mode. now i cant do anything.

    can someone please help me?

  • that's a very good tutorial. thank you

  • "i did that before just with collapse, so if i wanted the weld effect, i had to drop the vertex virtually on same position as the other one and collapse, soooo waste of time"

OMG!!! :P I did that too...

  • very good tutorial

  • very interesting!!!

  • I made a racoon and put it into a UT engine lol i remember when I had to target weld a chariot, man was it stressful :D

  • good job ... this is what i need

  • im glad i saw this, when u learn max by youself (with no tutorials) u forget some basic stuff

i did that before just with collapse, so if i wanted the weld effect, i had to drop the vertex virtually on same position as the other one and collapse, soooo waste of time

  • Great video, thanks! The clicking noise was driving me nuts though.

  • very good man when u will publish bone tutorial u used vray also

  • good tutorial. nice and easy explanations

  • backface cull ...shows all the vertices ..

It's also handy to slice your model in half ( if your model is symmetric ) and ad a symmetry modifier to it , so al your work is reflected in the symmetry modifier ....

  • great tutes :), in response to the last part... thank Oden for ctrl Z

  • DUUUDE awsome this solved all most all my probs in modeling Thanx chief!!!!! and ya put vids do u have any for bones

  • Thanks for the comments... maybe soon I will have some for bones...

  • Post some more videos man!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for the comments! I have more videos. Check the URL in the movie description to see where they are.

    I will upload more soon.

  • hey can you help me? i just started on 3d and i don't know even how to modify poligons :S yeah incredible lame. I tried everything i saw but i found nothing :S

  • right click on the object > convert to editable mesh or polygon
