  • i like to chuck tyres at my paper boy.. and send lawn mowers after him. Just like in this game.

  • childhood !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, you are awesome at this game! I loved it but I was awful. Paperboy is so surreal- what a f*cked up neighborhood to live in. It's like something out of a David Lynch movie

  • wow. That looks like a dangerous place to live.........

  • am i hallucinating or...

    ...WHY ISN'T MONDAY GREY?

  • I use to play this version to death, even now after countless different versions always go back to this. So atmospheric, god bless the Commodore 64.

  • I have to salute your skills to pay the bills. I never could play Paperboy with a damn.

  • graphics could have been better for such an actually powerful system, hell turrican for example, they just got lazy, or this is a tape version, other wise the graphics actually could have been a bit past nes quality! As for sound the c64 always pulls threw!!!

  • awesome music

  • Wow! how come every C64 game I see is so horribly done? the sound and graphics are always shit.

  • @JoeyJoeJoe5000 this game is from 1986, what kind of graphics do yo spect from? there was no Cryengine at that time hahaha!

  • @marcosorg What I mean is, the C64 can do much better. It looks like they only used like 3 colors, come on! you can't tell me this game was not done by lazy programmers!

  • @JoeyJoeJoe5000: You're looking at the wrong videos. :) A lot of C64 arcade ports were lazily done and don't really show what the system can do.

  • @JoeyJoeJoe5000 - You are definitely looking at the wrong videos my friend. The C64 was a brilliant system with some truly breathtaking games!

I give you this one -

    watch?v=vADKoSDqhdk

THIS shows what the C64 can do :)

  • lol

  • I remember this game, it was a lot of fun. Hadn't realised until now what a bunch of arseholes everyone in the neighbourhood were - trying to attack you, rolling tyres at you, pushing lawn mowers in the street. Not to mention the illegal construction of fences over footpaths - i wonder what the council would have to say about that?

  • beyond awesome so many memories i miss it and the music is awesome DOH

  • you are the dos gamer?

  • lol ... i never made it past the third house ...

  • How come Monday's all black? I remember it being grey!

  • I actually broke a joystick to this game in sheer frustration back when was a kid! I did manage to survive the week through sunday and complete the game once though (I was pretty young, about 8) I remember the ending screen paper has the headline "CONGRATULATIONS ARE IN ORDER!" I also recall that the Grim Reaper makes an appearance on the final level.

  • wow this game had like an amazing amount of colors i count 4 lol

  • @GlNGERBREAD Your the sad twat!!!!!!!!!! Grow up moron...When was you born?

  • @GlNGERBREAD Are you kidding?!? Go away and play some Halo.

  • This game was way to hard for me. Eventhough i was a teenager. :)

Or my joystick was a little crappy. :)

But it was a great game. Fantastic playing Derschmu.

    Thanks for posting.

  • We have a billion times more powerful hardware today if you consider nvidia gtx graphics cards and the newest 6 core processors. And you cant make this fast graphics using windows gdi (without using directx).

We don't really have much to brag about today.

  • @VVideogamer sounds like the opposite with me. In fact I think I lent my gameboy copy to a friend about 13 years ago actually. Wow. weird. But that was in Germany when I lived there for a year.

  • @VVideogamer no wonder :) same thing happend to me

  • This game has so many lovable features: How you can deliver appropriately or be a total bastard by breaking windows and throwing garbage can lids open with the newspapers. I like how the lawnmower tries to move to the way of the paperboy, how the 4 identical dogs romp on the street and how the neighbour guy tries to run after the paperboy. And wtf, is that the Grim Reaper beginning at Saturday?? =D

  • simple but enjoyable :)

  • This game and "who dares wins" was the first c64 games i ever played.. got my own 64 in christmasgift by my parents in 1987.. the best era of gaming ever!

  • wow.....simply the best.

i have never seen this game played so well :)

  • That's skill full - this game is not easy O_o

  • Impressive. I don't think I ever reached Saturday. It's amazing how little sense some of the games of that era made with dogs running through fences and walls, as well as sentient tyres and lawnmowers. ;-D Still, a lot of fun.

  • Holy Christ... Sir has aim!!

  • Congratulations are in order.

  • Hardcore!

  • The guys at the finish line look like they have no pants and are proud of it.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • i think the fat guy running in the track suit is ment to be elvis

  • MAN ! you are very good !!!!

    thanks for sharing this !!!!

  • yeah the end of day music is a little eery for some reason.always liked the main tune though

  • I saw a PLUS4 version of this cca 20years ago,in a computer room at primary school. That had POPCORN music.

  • hated the end of the day music

  • A fast and fun game. Played it as a kid and think I got through the whole week.

Some of these comments confuse me: the crazy bitch with the knife?

Maybe that was on the arcade version.

  • nice neighborhood. the crazy bitch with the knife lives right next door to the guy in the wife beater who runs after people on their bike who ride by. hahaha

  • those damn tires always got me. how the hell were they going back and forth with nobody pushing them anyways? lol

  • this game is so god damn hard

i couldn't beat a single stage without fucking up

  • einfach nur hammergeil, mit 5 oder 6 jahren war das mein lieblingsspiel. ich werd mir jetzt nen c64 emulator runterzierhen und ne runde paperboy zocken^^ ps bin jetzt 23/5 Jahre

  • I used to play this on the C64 when I was 4

Loved the music, but was terrified of the lawnmowers and the man that chases you

and I played level 3 that same way..

  • awesome!

  • looks like an impossible game.

  • Your route through Wednesday was exactly as I used to play it.. Wonder if EVERYONE took the same routes through that game!

  • One of my fondest gaming memories, not just playing it on the C64 but also in the arcade with the handlebar controller!

  • It had my heart racing as if I was playing it again - many thanks

  • Did you get points for breaking the non-subscribers' windows? Is that an urban legend?

  • No that's true. You get a bonus at the end of each level for any broken window of non-subscribers.

  • lol, the grim reaper at the end is just great

  • thanks for adding this!
