I've learned to be true to myself. To be comfortable in my own skin and to support those who have their identity crisii later in life because they're no longer 'all that', cute, and accepted as easily for their looks. I agree with you. I actually get some grief over the fact that I'm not a "typical gay" whatever that means. I don't smoke or drink, I hate going to clubs as it's a waste of time. I'm not all that into sex (which makes my partner irritated so I throw him a bone to make him happy haha) and I'm never out protesting or petitioning for gay rights, because I'm a pretty happy gay man as it is so why go out and spread anger and be mad all the time. I agree with you. I actually get some grief over the fact that I'm not a "typical gay" whatever that means. I don't smoke or drink, I hate going to clubs as it's a waste of time. I'm not all that into sex (which makes my partner irritated so I throw him a bone to make him happy haha) and I'm never out protesting or petitioning for gay rights, because I'm a pretty happy gay man as it is so why go out and spread anger and be mad all the time. So I think it's ok that you are a free thinker!

Being gay is a characteristic in a long, long list of traits that make you who you are. I'm 5'9, I have green eyes, I like peanut butter, I'm gay, etc etc. The only difference is that some people do hate on you for being gay (less so for liking peanut butter), so as a defense mechanism it's nice to form a cohesive group. But that doesn't mean having to support STUPID SHIT. I'm with you.

Refreshingly spot on! I am growing tired of people perpetuating and cultivating an image of themselves contrary to who they really are. Might not hold true for Matthew Lush, but it certainly holds true for a lot of young people on the Internet today.
