  • Excellent film.

  • great film. SPOILER: especially the ending..everyone dead!

  • Amazing movie!

  • while the negative people & the positive people argue whether the ending was positive or negative the opportunist made movie with a blank ending & got you all to like it

ps - im not saying a movie is bad for doing that

  • SAW IT TWO HRS AGO!!! AMAZING PERFORMANCE...BLEW ME AWAY! GREAT FILM!!

  • Jessica Chastain like in "The tree of life" embodies such a warm-hearted, caring wife and mother. Great actress with a good sense of quality roles.

  • Michael Shannon is highly underrated

  • I am simply amazed ... that NONE of you can't see the Irony the TRUE irony .. behind this movie ..

  • Hands down the best movie in ages! I loved every minute of it, from the very beginning to the last moments. Just so beautiful and emotional...

  • great movie, amazing performance by Michael Shannon. Just goes to show how the brain can do things you cant control, and its realy interesting to watch this man slowly loose his mind.

  • Dont tell me the storm never comes. Im tired of Open ended ending.

  • So surprised it didn't win anything at the spirit awards :0(

  • near perfect trailer. hope the flick lives up to it

  • jill striff brought me here

  • is that guy from human centipede....?

  • I had an almost shot by shot dream of Lightning Storm that takes place when he's driving at night with his family halfway thru the f ilm....that was kind of creepy. I had the dream two days before I saw the movie or had any idea I would be viewing the movie that week.

  • i didnt understand the ending

  • @ace2044 I didn't either..... was the storm coming there way? did they just hide in the house? did they get in the car and drive back to ohio to hide in the storm shelter??? why did they all just nod their head??? does anyone have answers??

  • THERE’S A STORM COMING LIKE NOTHING YOU’VE EVER SEEN, AND NOT A ONE OF YOU IS PREPARED FOR IT!

  • 0:56 sound EXACTLY like Phil from modern family

  • A very nice movie! Good acting, good music, good story and the ending was great!

  • @YaoiSutori what happens at the end? I didn't get it.. why did they all just nod their heads?? did they just go inside to seek shelter?? wouldn't they all just get blown away especially being so close to the ocean??

  • @dlyons99x It proves that the guy wasn't having any metal illness but a premonition effect. His wife nods to give him some credit LOL! But whether they survive the tsumani it's up to you to imagine. And yes that's a tsumani coming right at them!

  • @YaoiSutori ok thanks....I just wish that would have shown them all getting into the car for safety and driving as fast as they could away... makes me think they will all just end up dead from the tsunami/storm/tornadoes approaching...

  • @dlyons99x Agree!

  • @YaoiSutori OMG thanks. I had to watch it twice to see it. Thanks for the heads up.

  • @irvingklaw57 You're welcome!

  • @dlyons99x maybe the big storm he thought was coming before, which didn't,comes near the end..

  • Great film!

  • Great movie!

  • a equal of this would be incredible!!: it could evolve into a post-apocalyptic survival film, a bit like the road, where Shannon and his family try to survive in the aftermath of an apocalyptic storm

  • What's the song that comes out in the beginning of this?

  • Catherine Reitman brought me here!!

  • its always the bitches that talk their shit saying everything is fine and going crazy when the man is trying to help n warn them.. just like in the movie 2012 when he was telling her on the phone to pack up the kids n get outta there..n she was like "call back when you calm down" then hangs up.. dumb bitches.. leave they ass behind.

  • @MiMiCTheProphecy There is help available for misogynists.

  • @andenisa i aint got nothing against women.. i have something against dumb ignorant women

  • @MiMiCTheProphecy forreal. like i know i wouldn't help or save someone who doesn't want to be saved, or think they know everything.

  • @urtpublic good man

  • @limaxks haha...nope

  • Plot: This is 90 minutes of a guy waiting for a storm.

  • @11WeylandYutani11 actually 120 minutes

  • IS THAT ADELE 1:32...?

  • @limaxks lol no.

  • @limaxks lol

  • How could Michael Shannon not have been nominated for an academy award? It's one of the best performances I have EVER seen!

  • Does he have schizophrenia? Gah i'm sensitive to these kind of movies. I have a similar condition to schizophrenia

  • Strikingly ominous. Instills a feeling of undefinable dread. The moment when you know something terrible has happened simply by the look in their eyes, you fear and yet yearn to hear them utter the words.

  • if you like this see Doomsday preppers the series on tv...and search Nibiru 2012 on youtube...wake up people...

  • This movie just ended and all i can say is WOW-brilliant movie, not for everyone to understand or appreciate, but for the esoteric Doomsday enlightened folk, you MUST SEE THIS MOVIE, I am still recovering from full-bodied goose bumps...That wife 'SAM' was so patient with him, she tried so hard to understand, and Curtis's struggle was so heart-wrenching...the END, was so worth waiting for and it made me shake, when the little girl signed 'STORM' I yelped because they were all the way in M.Beach

  • The storm comes at the very end of the movie.

  • I enjoyed the slow pace and the performances were outstanding. The nightmares were bone-chilling and the scene in the cafeteria was amazing. The movie fell flat in the end though. Coming up with a conclusion is always hard and Take Shelter is a good example of that...

  • 29 people dis liked what they saw when he opened the shelter! LMAO!!!!

  • One of the best movies in recent years, criminally overlooked by oscars.

  • Wonderful movie-Beautiful character development. I felt so deeply for his wife, so loving and supportive even in his darkest moments. A phenomenal film.

  • one of the best of the year... if u like great filmaking and great acting youll like it

  • YEAH! Who needs stupid shelter anyway!

  • This is about America.

  • Comment removed

  • This movie evolved REALLY well. I sympathized with the main character (Michael Shannon), his family, and his "issue". Over the course of the movie, I felt dread, tension, and happiness. I don't want to say too much without ruining the movie, but what I think this film was mostly about, is that thinking, or dreaming too much can really distort a person's state of mind... or can it?

  • shh about endings. I almost read your comments. Dont spoil it on the trailer please

  • I really liked the movie. I hated that the movie ended like that. Do they die or live? And all those nightmares that he was having had nothing to do with where he lives. That sucks. Stupid Dr for recommending him to get away. Stupid wife for agreeing. Then end was scary. I want to know if they live or die. Damn it.

  • @Rain37296 well keep the ending for yourself???? thanks for that.

  • Good movie but wtf is up with the ending

  • Beautiful movie.. defiantly recommended.. Can be slow at times but a great story

  • What the... I saw this movie 10 years ago, or even more. This has to be a remake of some kind.

  • I could feel the donnie darko vibe coming out of this movie. I saw both the Descendants and Take Shelter, and in my opinion, Michael Shannon was robbed at the oscar nominations. Breathtaking performance from Mr.Shannon. Kudos.

  • @ds37 clearly you haven't seen revolutionary road

  • ******Spoiler Alert**... I think the ending was really great. To me it showed that the family stayed together and lived with his fear, rather than let him go to clinic and probably never see his family again. They all saw the storm, the way he always saw, when Curtis said "Sam" and she said "OK" and then a thunder storm ... loved it!

  • I agree with those who say the ending is completely interpretive. I interpreted the yellow rain to be that of God's tears of gold. He is crying as he unleashes his final storm to end our days. lol, I'm a nerd.

  • @FullOfSomething You got a point... but still.. I prefered the "first" ending. The second one makes it too much like a hollywood film. It's almost impossible... but it is possible! American dream..

  • I literally screamed at my screen when this film ended..... greatest buildup for nothing ever created

  • this was terrible when he talked his mouth didn't even move! AND it was as long winded ever and nothing happened at the end he was on holiday and the storm that he dreamed about came then it went black... Written by blablba made by blablabla 0.0

  • Excellent movie, acting, music, and suspense. The only thing that bothers me...SPOILER ALERT: I dont get how the wife accepts his prediction of the storm after seeing it when they're on vacation and then keeps saying "Okay" as if they have time to fly alll the way back home and go to that shelter he built. Its too late...they're far from home. They were in Myrtle Beach once the storm came. Their shelter is in Ohio? They're supposed to die in that case...right ??? What ever, great movie anyway.

  • @femmeNIQITA I really dont think there is any big storm he was talking about. I think there was a thunderstorm while they were on the beach/vacation and the little girl signed

"storm" and to help her husband ge through his meloncholic state the wife said okay, like I believe you knowing that the storm will pass and everyone will be alive and well. She was trying to help him by accepting him for what he believed in. Only way you can truely rid yourself of your fears is through yourself. Ironic

  • @emilbiz that's an interesting take on the ending, but I believe it was real because there's a very deep subtext going on here for me - that of someone going mad because they see or feel the truth, or have a premonition of it, but no-one else does and so they consider the person crazy. Right at the end though (SPOILERS) it's all real - the end has arrived - and it's not a hallucination for me, because of the wife's very real reaction to the sensation of those raindrops on her hands.

  • i just wanna know what the yellow rain stuff was

  • @JesusManPowerKick Gods urin.

  • this was a PRETTY GOOD MOVIE

  • SO Glad I Watched this. I wish I could have seen it in theaters though...

  • hmmm.. the movie has the same concept as donnie darko but with a different ending.

this movies GOOD but just cant compare to donnie darko

  • @smokebud420lahc1 When I first saw the movie I was like : OMG.. a copy of donnie darko... but meh, not that much. The ending in take shelter is much worst than the ending in donnie darko though.. Damn, I want to re-watch donnie darko eheh

  • Its like bug, with bugs...

  • such a great movie. deserves to be in the oscars

  • Great work! Makes my "prepper scence" start ticken again. Justified.

  • amazing movie......and the OSCAR GOES TO.....Take Shelter

  • LOOOK REALLY TRIPPY A MUST SEE MOVIE

    THUMBS UP :)

  • Hard to believe that this gets knocked out of the Oscars by garbage like Tree Of Life and The Descendants.

  • This is a very good movie but Tree Of Life its not garbage.

  • @NuestroMexicoEnVivo Yeah I spoke too soon, lol. Tree Of Life is my pick now. But Take Shelter DEFINITELY deserved to be in the Moneyball slot. "The Academy" are SO guilty of pandering to Moneyball so as to make brad Pitt feel good about his Producing future. Pure politics.

  • The final shelter scene is one of the most haunting scenes I have ever watched in a film, I was afraid of what he could and could not do.

    Great film.

  • @JhovSlimane I was going to check this out. Is it worth watching?

  • Man cries wolf.

  • Dear Academy:

    Less Oldman

    Less Bichir

    More Shannon

    More Fassbender

  • @MrFuntime16 oldman and bichir deserve it.. i would say less clooney and pitt.. more shannon and fassbender

  • bible thumpers

  • Looks really good.

    Its also propaganda.

  • @Dumbfounded113 What propaganda are you talking about? I just watched it. So i really want to know what your talking about even though you haven't seen it. Please tell me.

  • WHAT'S THE NAME OF THE MUSIC PLAYING IN THIS TRAILER?

  • It looks good, bad and weird at the same time

  • is this a horror/scary movie?

  • @michaelandtristan

Neither. It's a subtle dramatic thriller. One of the best I've ever seen.

  • @TrolltasticLogic .interesting to note the paranoia in a mood setting piece...Shannon also was involved in similar film with Ashley Judd, called Bug.

  • Is this good? The trailer seems meh

  • @ksuen106 good enough to go watch, yes

  • Pirate Bay Brought me here bye bye BTJunkie

  • @Cashngib Pirate Bay will go on 29 february :(

  • Saw the twist coming... Movie was slow as fuck... So much potential, but too many artsy fartsy shots of people doing nothing. Could have been 40 minutes shorter.

  • @napischu What twist was that? What 40 minutes would you have cut out, the character development or the entire tone of the film?

  • @VintageWhiteTerror Well, it was pretty obvious what was going on. Took him about an hour to build that fucking shelter and two hours of him getting "crazier". The movie could have been a lot shorter. 50% of the shots in the film was of him sobbing or sitting still doing nothing. And I'm not gonna spoil the twist, but I saw that ending coming.. Could have been a bit more surprising.

  • This movie is weird, in a very weird way.

  • Grate movie!!

  • my dad , my dad, what have you done

  • Jaybob

  • I AM WATCHING THIS FILM RIGHT NOW ....

  • @flyingxk How was it?

  • @TheDonkyPuncher i liked it....

  • @thecloudhead658 Thanks for the Spoiler Alert!

  • It just happened, the storm came in the end... sometimes you just have to follow your instincts no matter what people say.

  • @thecloudhead658 Nice one man, you're really clever aren't you...

  • He was having this dreams "visions" of people going after him, attacking him, while he was just trying to save his family, and that was exactly what was going on, everyone was against him in the sense that everyone though he was crazy. But he wasn't he was right all along. The fact his daughter sees the storm first shows that it wasn't just in his head, after all why would they just pretend they are seeing a storm just like the father. Neither they went all crazy, that wouldn't make much sense

  • @thecloudhead658 Spoiler alert that shit!

  • good movie

  • agree with Thecloudhead658, also while he was at the pub at the start his wife taught their daughter the sign for storm while he wasnt there. Which his daughter uses at the end and he doesnt understand her. Which presumes it is in fact real life and not all in his head.

  • Why the hell is so difficult for people to get the ending?! He was just right, he wasn't sick he was having visions... and the disbelieve of his wife cost them their lives. At the end when she almost speechless says "OK" that is acceptance of her fate to come, she accepts he was right and they will die, plain and simple ;-)

  • @thecloudhead658 wrong!

  • Don't you hate it when you try to thumb up a comment and then Youtube auto-directs you to log in?

  • @SteveGaming yeah that happens to the users who dosent kepp it logged in or dosent have the acccount

  • @SteveGaming

    It's called cookies xD

  • Comment removed

  • @Ioserbam I didn't even realize I would get thumbed up... calm down and I've already seen the film.

  • @Ioserbam You didn't get to ruin @SteveGaming's fun as he had already seen the movie anyway, but I hadn't. I'll start watching it in a minute as soon as I get a coke in the kitchen and because of you I know upfront how it ends.

    Thanks for that, bro!

  • @RicowOTC I honestly do apologize. The end is completely interpretive, and you will enjoy the film regardless. Amazing film.

  • @Ioserbam ;) no problem! And yeah, it doesn't fill like the ending added anything to the story. In a certain way the it was sort of irrelevant to the film. **SPOILER ALERT**: From the moment when they left the shelter and nothing happened up until the very last minute I was like "OMG, the guy on youtube was lying? Why'd he even do that?!?!". HAHA I loved the movie anyway! :)

  • @RicowOTC Sorry for commenting which prompted this idiot looserbam to comment.

  • Bobjay !

  • good film covering health topics and relationship issues..well made.. with a quirky twist i never saw coming

  • This movie had a twist of a ending. I give it 4 out of 5.

  • jaybob sent me ere lol

  • sad how she dies

  • well slap my ass and call me chicken little.

  • Just watched it, the end is confusing .....

  • My mom brought me here, through her vagina. Swag

  • @HUUUUUUUUUUURR hahjahaaa!!!!!! thats good!!!

  • @HUUUUUUUUUUURR hey stop the jokes maN u will be embarrssed if ppl on the youtube saw ur motha

  • Nobody cares who brought you here stop thumb whoring fucking fags

  • @Rockdard no you kinds miss the big picture, he was never sick, he was right all along, everyone thought hes crazy even he believed it and accepted that his sick, but at the end he knew and his wife shocked!

  • My mum brought me here.

  • Shut up with Jaybob, you're not going to get 100 thumbs up.

  • JAYBOB

  • jaybob brought you here

  • I found it a pretty good movie !! I work in a psychiatrie with alot if mental ill patiënts.

We always asume they are crazy, yes most of the time they are.. but some poeple

are just diffrent in a way we can't understand so..we give them some pills.

And say Here is a crazy person.

We just dont have the capable quality in this society to really cure them and listen !!!LISTEN!!!

    What they have to say.

Also one tip stay of the booz

most poeple in my facality are crazy because of it,

    80%

  • hey look its the 2 actors from boardwalk empire!!!:)

  • he was at the beach house wehn the storm came, so he and his family probably died. so much for the storm shelter...

  • One of BEST movies in 2011...:))) brilliant

  • *Spoiler alert*

Can someone explain the ending to me? I am honestly confused. I am not sure how to interpret it. Does the ending mean he was right all along and the epic storm is in fact a real one? Or are his family also beginning to see the same illusions as him?

  • @nsfx

if it wasn't a dream he was right because the whole family inculding the kid saw the storm. if it was a dream he probably went 100% bat shit.

  • @nsfx SPOILER : he was right, cause remember when the thunder strike no one saw it, and the birds in the first no one saw it too, but at the end, the little girl saw it first and the wife stood speechless! he was right all along.

  • @moradmagdy777 2deep4u

  • @RolTickler your comment doesn't help me or anyone here, if you think your smarter and "deeper" then explain it. and i don't think i asked you in the first place. but go ahead and explain it for me, cause u see it's too deep for me to get :)

  • @moradmagdy777 some people look in to films way to far....

  • @Rockdard

Hm... I thought the end depicts Curtis in complete ill-mental state. Right before the end of the movie, Sam and Curtis mentioned they used to spend their vacation at some beach, but was unable to go that year. But the end of the movie shows Curtis and his family at their vacation spot where the storm happens with raining oil...

  • OMG its the cop guy from boardwalk empire :D

  • Great movie! 5/5

  • JAYBOB

  • @Rockdard nah i think you got it wrong , his wife ha become a psycho like him so both of the see the storm except his daughter.

  • @jimboG100 The daughter was the one who said storm on the beach, where did you get from?....
