I would love it if anyone could share with me a copy of, Johnny Nash's version of, 'Half Way to Paradise as it is the very best I have ever heard. Thanks anyone who can help with this version
@ronwhycherly We have decent max speed limits in the US. Go look it up. I might be wrong, but our inner city speed limits are generally greater than those in the UK. Also despite what you may have read or unfortunately witnessed, our cars fare well for practical uses, and our driving is not totally batshit insane.
@blencathra11 Do not equate me with walru1. I will not say that you should keep your opinion to yourself because "sad bastards" is not an opinion; it's a cliche used by stupid, ignorant people incapable of complex thought or of producing original ideas or arguments. I wrote in defence of Billy's reputation, to correct my antagonist's anti-British remarks and to condemn his justification of genocide. If that displeases you, then you are less than a speck of shit on the sole of my shoe.
Contrary to the insane claims of a certain Yank Billy was not gay, as can be attested by the women who knew him intimately. He was a great singer who did his own recording. He was a prolific songwriter, unlike Elvis. Billy was also a very brave man, pursuing a demanding career despite knowing that his heart had been weakened by a childhood illness. The first king of all England was Athelstan, grandson of Alfred the Great, who united England in the course of winning the first Anglo-Danish war.
@PrettiestDogEver contrary to the insane claims of a delusional Limey, Mr. Fury most certainly was 'bent-as'a-nine-bob-note' and frequently indulged the practice of buggery (upon himself) with a bevy of males hanging-out in the latrines of night clubs. Comparing the weak and flimsy Mr. Fury with Elvis is infantile.' Elvis Is King.' I've never seen that applied to Fury. Fury Is Queen, maybe. What has Athelstan got to do with anything. If you are harkening back to Septimus Severus, why?
My nan was going to see him, she was obsessed with him! She was so excited bless her, he died a few days before the concert :'( she was heart broken <3 I love you Billy Fury xxxx
Did anyone like the song, or maybe the singer..... hm? Video's a bit shit, but then we've got all these literary giants comments to read. What bliss, I can't think of anything else I'd rather be doing. I wonder if they're male by any chance [Rhetorical].
@oldgeeze1 You're beaten 'oldgit.' You know it, i know it and so does everyone watching. You've attempted everything. Threats, foul language homophobia and i just gave you a lesson in resilience and determination coupled with quiet dignity.
Slink off, lick your wounds, find someone else of your own standard. I've given you a comprehensive kicking.
@WALRU1I whoa there== immigrants!! not bad bad considering usa is full of them lets not forget the red indians the real americans and of the unspoken holocaust inflicted on them lets also remember when most of the world was coloured red and most liked the british now its usa,s turn and MOST hate the yanks lets also remember the yanks helped liberate europe not britain there are more u.s graves in france than french and they do not care about usa policies what so ever you may speak the ENGLISH
@fridgeman57 I don't know what version of English you use but this jumbled-up garbage is risible. The Red Indians deserved all they got. Had they not fought for the British and insisted on scalping their captives they may have been perceived as humans and not savages. Incidentally, they were not 'native Americans.' They were Sanskrits.
The rest of your inarticulate drivel is not worthy of comment. You are ignorant and ill-educated, like most of your fellow daft British tits.
@WALRU1I You really should not believe the dishonest version of history which is drummed into the minds of American schoolchildren. Scalping was invented by white settlers who needed proof of the number of Indians they had killed in order to claim the bounty that was placed upon them. The Indians were Sanskrits? Sanskrit is a language, you idiot.
@PrettiestDogEver What makes your version of events any more truthful than mine? Yours is propaganda. It was the British Imperial Forces that caused the scalping to take place. That is universal fact, not American dogma. As for your 'Sanskrit' definition, yes, it is a universal language of the nomadic Sanskrit indian found originally in the Asian continent from whence they travelled to America. You never studied history and have a poor general knowledge. At least you own the 'rights' to 'idiot.'
@WALRU1I You cited the practice of scalping as evidence of the Red Indians' savagery, suggesting that they were/are sub-human and deserving of genocide. I pointed out that scalping was invented and practised by white people, including those who rebelled against the lawful authority of the king in parliament while claiming that all men are created equal (except the red ones and the black ones). Sanskrit is not a universal language, just one part of the Indo-European group. It is not a race.
@PrettiestDogEver As an historical revisionist, you are poor. The Red Indians, employed by the British insisted on scalping any American (not Patriot) they captured. Through those actions (the first to be scalped was an American female) ensued the blood-bath and hatred vented upon them.
If i say they are savages, it's because any inhuman action warrants such a term. As for ''Sub-human'' and ''genocide'', that's you trying to make a case for your miserable, wretched self. Your words are yours.
@WALRU1I The British government paid Indians to kill British subjects? Wake up and smell the bullshit! Thousand of Bitish troops died defending the Americans from the results of their own greed and cruelty. The white settlers slaughtered and robbed the Indians because they wanted their land. It upset the settlers that King George III tried to protect the red men from the depredations of the white ones. You are the one who said that the Indians deserved to be killed.
@PrettiestDogEver Snide remarks such as ''repressed lust for men'' are just distraction techniiques from a pedestrian tit that has no answer to more serious questions. Your translation of prose is also confused. I did not claim the British government paid indians to kill British subjects.'' They (the savages) killed Americans, or those that supported George Washington (remember him?) The Patriots (American turncoats ie British subjects) were not scalped. You need to read history, not make-it-up.
@WALRU1I You are a repressed homosexual who is frightened of his attraction to Billy, hence your insults to him. The Americans were British subjects until the rebels won the war. Washington was the arrogant, incompetent idiot who started the Seven Years War, which cost Britain tens of thousands of lives and increased the National Debt to a size that could not be serviced by normal revenues. That is why the Americans were asked to pay a little more tax.
@PrettiestDogEver cont' Your 'hang-up' over race, colour and creed is oversensitive. What are you on, a moral-high-horse, looking to vanquish imaginary demons. Take your Marxist drivel elsewhere and stop trying to create a situation that only exists (thankfully) in your narrow mind. I'd say those that shout about racism are the most likely to be a racist. Are you?
Sanskrit is a language, there is also European Sanskrit, making it fairly universal. It is derived from ancient Sanskrit culture.
@WALRU1I I don't have a hang-up but it is clear that you have several. Were you frothing at the mouth when you wrote this? I suggest you read some real history, i.e. not written by Americans. You should also come to terms with your repressed lust for men instead of projecting your sexual fantasies onto poor, dead Billy, who cannot defend himself, you cowardly little shit.
@PrettiestDogEver I don't ''froth'' and neither do i use foul language, which proves, if anything that you are a tad upset, maybe frothing. Those that use expletives in debate are of little intelligence. Your obvious racism is compounded by your American/English version of American history. What makes your version any more valid than mine, save that your subjectivity is prejudiced. You first used 'yank' which is a derogatory term meaning you have a problem with your superiors. We did beat you!
@WALRU1I The only emotion you create in me is contempt. You did not beat us; the French did, at the cost to them of their colonies in India, which were much more worthwhile to Britain than the loss-making American colonies. Several countries other than France allied themselves with the rebels, mainly in the hope of grabbing some British territory. These countires included Spain, Russia, Prussia, Denmark and Holland. We beat all of them. All we lost was a bunch of ingrates, to use an Americanism.
@PrettiestDogEver Of course the Indians deserved to be killed. If they had gone on scalping unabated, there would be no American people per se. That reasoning applies to most scenarios. Perhaps you would have preferred it if your Nazi friends had conquered the world. You profess concern for the ''Black man and Red man'' yet indicate hatred for nationality. Was your mother duped by a G.I.? Did she have plenty of chocolate and stockings against the poverty of her friends? Is your name 'Chuck?'
@WALRU1I Stop spewing your trash. There is no Swastika race and while Native Americans could be genetically linked to South Asians, their genes are more likely a combination of various Asian and possibly Euro pools.
@LILYNHUGH Maybe you should find a job or a leisure pursuit. Posting that which we all know adds nothing to the debate. Why are you here? Typical British inbreed.
Billy Fury was nothing. Only sentiment keeps you British pining for a bygone era where you conveniently elevate a below average warbler to a position of hero-worship. Wipe the tears from your eyes you big ninnies and realise he was a fruit that mimed to heavily treated recordings.
Yeah!... But strangely enough, his greatest hit, here, is by Carole King & Gerry Goffin! The 100% British Billy Fury was discarded by his compatriots! How do you explain that?
On the comments below. The Anglo Saxons are the only race on planet earth defined as a product of two civilisations. Angels :) and Saxons. But if you look to the right of an American soldier their will be a British one. No Battle of Britain, no place for the Americans to save. And then No enimga, No Telemark and pretty soon after no America, courtesy of Werner von Braun. We remain half way to Paradise but it ain't comming without Yanks and Brits fighting together for freedom for all.
2 cont/ I take no lectures from any inferior race, especially yours. The facts are: our music, our industry, our culture is far superior to that of yours. Billy Fury was a transvestite that buggered young boys and Norton bikes could be ridden by morons with no difficulty. The economic recession was a world problem by numerous investment banks. Facts are facts bub!
@WALRU1I what a blurt!,yanks were late that in joining the world war that the silly pratts had won it al by themselves!,look at your history, you are a mongrel race with no history apart from that of the red indian, the TRUE AMERICAN!.
and billy fury was head and shoulders above your americam idols!.
@brigader4heart ''Mongrel race?'' Your particular brand of the English language is mongrel by any stretch of the imagination. Ill-composed,full of grammatical and spelling errors that only an imbecile could manage. Facts are facts. The Germans drove you into the sea at Dunkirk and without American intervention, you would now be part of a united Germany.
If your contribution to rock and roll is to copy the likes of Elvis, Buddy Holly, with Cliff Richard, Adam Faith and Gayboy Fury. Well, lmfao.
@oldgeeze1 I have. Now look at yours. Your country once had a Black King and you also stuck young children up chimneys and paedophilia was seemingly lawful. As was opium across the counter. I wouldn't be too 'proud' of your history or selective.
@WALRU1I What black king you idiot im very proud of my country and its history why dont you check and see just how many of the worlds great inventions come from these islands lets start with the jet engine..........over to you plank.
@oldgeeze1 Don't be so stupid, especially in public. The jet engine was a German invention -V2- which, at the fall of the Third Reich, was sequestered by the Americans and Russians to enhance the space-race, which incidentally, the Americans 'won.' You should be ''proud'' of your country. You gave the world concentration camps and turned the Chinese people into opium addicts.
Your Black King was a feudal king of Berber descent, b.c. History is not your strong-point. How about flower arranging?
@WALRU1I you really are an idiot the V2 had a rocket engine not a jet engine two completely different things the jet engine was invented in the 1920's. As far as this berber rubbish goes thats what it is RUBBISH.As far as concentration camps are concerned look at the American Civil War,and the Chinese had been using opium for many hundreds of years
@oldgeeze1 Perhaps a more suitable user name for you would be 'senileoldgeeze1'. To recap; the jet engine was a German invention, or at least shared with British scientist, Sir Frank Whittle. Dr.Hans Von Ohain first flew a jet engine aircraft in 1939 and Whittle's in 1941. Similar in propulsion but different in internal arrangement, both patented their engines.
If you care to look at the timeline you will notice that the dates are coinciding with the onset of WW2. Rocket science is beyond you.
@oldgeeze1 2/ cont. You will see that jet propulsion leads to rocket propulsion. Concentration camps were used by the British in 1853 during the Crimea and the Boer conflict of 1880. The American Civil War (nothing to do with the British unless you meant the Independence War ) of 1861 certainly falls after the Crimea. I reiterate and stand by the assertion that the British introduced opium to the Chinese during the Qing Dynasty of 1839. The Black King was Septimus Severus. He was a Berber.
@oldgeeze1 3/ cont; If you are a reflection of British Society and stand as a monolith of historical authority then it is to be expected that the world's people laugh at your tiny island. Your up-and-at-them, muck-and-bullets philosophy is exactly why your country is mired in the past and even third-world countries are far more advanced than your aged, primordial country.
The problem is with the outdated and anachronistic thinking by people like you. Take your Billy Gayboy photos and suffocate.
@WALRU1I I couldnt care less what you think you bigot these islands ruled 25% of the globe our time may have passed for now all empires fall Roman Russian American and British Septimus Severus was not a king UP YOURS
@oldgeeze1 Now don't you get excited, your Pacemaker might explode. I note you no longer dispute certain facts, one would assume you did some research and found that your unqualified historical revision was indeed equivalent to that of a screaming banshee. However, you should accept that Mr. Severus was indeed a King of England as well as a Roman Emperor of Nubian stock.
It is widely acknowledged by qualified historians and noted in the annals of history. You however are devoid of intelligence.
a simple History lesson for you.................there was no England when the Romans were here, it was known as Briton. England came into being after the arrival of the various Germanic Tribes.....Angles/Jutes/Saxons and Friesans. Commonly known today as the Anglo-Saxons.
Englands name comes from the people known as the Angles from the area of Angeln in Shleswig Holstein.
@Romannelli1 Don't be so patronising. Here's a 'simple history lesson' for you. With historical revision, it is proper and correct to refer to anything A.D. as England. So King Severus was King of England. Not Britain, Briton, or Ancient Briton. Nor, Romans, Vikings, Normans and nor was any other King ruler over any group or sub-sect. They ruled over England.
You might like to keep your big cucumber nose out of users' affairs unless you have anything positive to contribute.
@WALRU1I Oh dear! your ignorance knows no bounds, how many times do you need to be told, England come into being in 'NAME' by virtue of the People who gave it its name after the 5 century AD when the various Germanic Tribes, Angles/Saxons/Jutes and Frisians from the north of Holland who settled here. Now Listen very carefully, I shall say this only once! there has never been a King Severus of 'ENGLAND'.
If you or your Parents Paid for you education I suggest you ask for a refund
@oldgeeze1 I note you posted vapid drivel on my home page. Let me assure you that i am not intimidated by your veiled threats and if you can find a charity to sponsor your fare to Milwaukee, then i will make a loser out of you.
If you must post illiterate comments then use 'spellchecker.' How did you spell coming as 'comming?' You are thick as are your countrymen.
@oldgeeze1 Actually, Concentration Camps in the United States PREDATE the Civil War by... a significant period of time. Andrew Jackson signed the Indian Removal act in 1830. He then signed 94 orders of removal for 5 or 6 nations and in so doing initiated the historical fact known as the Trail of Tears. The Indian Removal Act and the Trail of Tears pre-date the Civil War by 30 years... the first concentration camps on US Soil were to confine Native Americans NOT some other race.
@WALRU1I ..you ignorant arogant prat.Septimius Severus was not black,at most he was 1/4 berber but probably more like 1/16,and he was never "King "of England...he was the Roman Emperor.
Englands first King was "Offa" in the Eighth Century.
Frank Whittle took out his patent in 1930...hans von ohain in 1936.
Cocaine was freely available over the counter in the United States till around 1912,and you still have a Concentration Camp...Guantanamo Bay. Suck on that !
@jarvsie Truth to tell the United States has had concentration camps for more than 170 years. They just call them "reservations."
@ my fellow Americans.... before you whine that I don't know what I am talking about with regard to American Concentration Camps... From 1860 to 1980 the United States Army prevented Native Americans from LEAVING those "reservations". That alone makes them, by definition, concentration camps.
@jarvsie He was King of England. if 'Googling' is beyond you, then find a decent history book. Your reference to Whittle and Ohain are irrelevant. I pointed out the timeline in an earlier post. What is your point about cocaine being freely available in the U.S? That has nothing to do with the British introducing it to China. Stay on-point and keep focused.Guantanamo Bay! Rightfully so. At least we did something, not like you fag-boy British that can only invade weak nations.
@WALRU1I have you noticed how many american 50's rock stars died in plane crashes.......elvin only avoided that fate because no plane of that era could have taken off with him on board........are you getting my message.
@WALRU1I ..you seem beyond help.If you re read your posts,in one severus is berber,in another Nubian...can't be both, and as I and other more intelligent people than you have stated, there was no King of England before Offa in the 8th Century. You are too stupid for me to be bothered to engage with anymore,,have a nice day !
@jarvsie Actually you idiot, you are quotiing your own post with reference to Berber. I only ever claimed h, Septimus King of England and Roman Emperor was a Nubian. You see, that is how ''intelligent'' you claim to be. Reading is a problem for you.
You are the only one that that holds you in high-esteem. Oh and the two plebicites you bribed, especially the drama queen posting the historical lineage, Sad person.
@WALRU1I ...you are so right!!...I must be imagining your two posts to oldgeeze1, above ,sent 5months ago , are in anyway referring to Septimus ,the Black King of England,as a Berber...silly me.
@jarvsie You must be either incredibly thick or mentally deficient. Show me the two posts you claim i made. As for your foul-mouth, i suggest you attend classes for social skills. The mask slips, you are trash. Try googling Severus, this is what you may find:''SEPTIMUS SEVERUS, THE BLACK ROMAN EMPEROR AND KING OF ENGLAND. Septimus Severus, Black Roman Emperor, Exemplary Military Leader and King of England ...''
Apparently i am right and you are wrong. Move on, you big gay whorepipe.
@brigader4heart Excuse me... but Native Americans have NEVER BEEN "Indians" nor, contrary to your ignorant racist comment, has their skin ever truly been RED. The red was a combination of a mineral called "red ocher" and rendered fat painted onto a warrior's body coupled with darker skin tone caused by exposure to this stuff called sunshine.
Pathetic British bigots. Typical of a nation to denigrate the very hand that helped them from their knees when all was lost. That's right. Your noses were firmly entrenched in mud until we 'Yanks' with very little culture inaugurated our war machine and unleashed it on both World Wars. If we hadn't, you weak specimens would be reverting back to your natural tongue which is, coincidentally, Germanic.
bfc go clarets go - oops sorry they've gone-sorry couldn't help it-best british balladeer ever, even if he was a scouser-soulful bluesy and a truly individual performer-a pale imitation of the king but that could never be a criticism-r.i.p.
burnley5960, this guy must be an in-bred redneck and has little comprenension of culture, mind you what do we expect from full of s*** septic tanks? What of FORD, GM, Chrysler and the rest? The yanks bought up what they couldnt produce themselves and thats why they are in the mess they are in. Greedy american bankers have bought us all to our knees so Walmat or whatever your name is get your fat ass back to the Okifinokee where you come from.
Walrus, I take it you're a septic tank (Yank), You slag off Billy Fury yet your culture is little more than 220 years old. As for bikes? Charley Davidsons are for the fatties stateside. Was in Sturgis 2007 and saw it for myself. Remember the word NORTON?
I completely agree with Scooterboysteve, In Spain we were living under franco´´s evil dictator-ship, so we could not experience all this type of culture that you had mentioned, I wish we had lived this type of experience, but Spain during the 60´s was underdeveloped country, only a bunch of people could play rock and roll. they were seen as weird guys.
I love to hear the songs of bygone eras that made so much sense in the lyrics.I wonder how many of these so called singers will be remembered long after they have gone to the recording studio in the sky.......more please
These movements you put emphasis on were media creations encouraged by the middle classes to compartmentalise the great unwashed (you). Mindless morons queued up to jump-on-the-bandwagon. of mass-hysteria.
They were not real, Malcolm McClaren will tell you all about hype and con-tricks. As for shocking your parents, spotty-faced delinquents with confused sexuality is hardly frightening. If you really wanted to shock them, you could have taken an axe to their heads. Teddy boys were vile scum.
walru1l obviously knows nothing about about youth culture, something our idiotic friends across the pond do not understand.teddy boys yes were an odd looking bunch but in this country our youth have always looked for something that will stand out be different and hopefully shock our parents, this continued through mods rockers glam rockers punks new romantics skins goths and emos.

The British rock and roll scene was a pale imitation of the genuine article performed across the atlantic. Britain, being a small island in comparison to America needed something to alleviate its dull existence. Hence the passionless copyists and the disgusting Teddy Boys.
The sentimentalists that crave this phony past are themselves fakes and insignificant tits. It wasn't real. Move on.
You might like to question why it was that the British had an insatiable lust for things American at the advent of rock and roll. The music, clothes, food, cars. Why, even your heroes craved American autos.
As for your assertion that i know nothing about youth culture. It is all dervitave from the original music exported to the United Kingdom in the 50s. None of the sub-cultures you mention have any historical value, except the racist 'skins' and the confused transvestite 'glam-rockers.
Sod off you TWAT a good MK2 Jag will piss on any 60s yank as for the bikes DBD 34 BSA, VINCENT BLACK SHADOW,Triumph Bonnie Need we say more !!!! and Billy was a match for anyone and Helen Shapiro Dusty and Pet Clark blow your lot into the weeds, then there was four lads from Liverpool enough said I think
1/ Now you calm down! The MK2 Jaguar with its underpowered 3.4 litre hair-dryer could not compete with any 7 litre Oldsmobile or Chevrolet. As for features. No power-hood, electric-seats et al, now tell me about comparisons. As for 'bikes', one make, Harley. Or even Indian, or Buell.
Your copyist singers could only strive to imitate their more superior American counterparts, the real thing incidentally.
I think you are floundering. To claim ''who wants a Power Hood'' is disingenuous.
One might have liked the choice. In most American autos of the time, in-car gadgetry was standard whereas in Little England, even a cigarette lighter was a 'luxury'.
Your assertions that Helen Shapiro did not copy is ridiculous. See Brenda Lee and Connie Francis. The Beatles, as previously stated.
I'm sorry you feel the need to be abusive via age, the posit of an uneducated sub-species.
Helen Shapiro had a voice far superior to anything in the UK or US. One doesn't want to points-score off you but since when have you had an actor to match Sir Lawrence Olivier? One thinks that the answer is NO. In terms of motorcycles, Harley-Davison make tractors. Try going around the Isle of Man on one of those! In terms of culture not wishing to be uncharitable, whilst the British can be a somewhat snobbish race, in most countries your culture is about as welcome as a shit in a swimming pool!
And she soon faded-out after one real hit-record. As for 'Larry'. You might well have the monopoly on actors speaking in received English with many plums in their mouths.
Of the era, America gave the world method-acting and Marlon Brando, Paul Newmanand Steve McQueen wooed the hearts of many a British girl. 'Larry' might have got the attention of many lads like yourself.
B.S.A. is no match for a Harley. I think you'll find America rules the world and certainly sent the British on their way.
''Rip Van Winkle Pops.'' I am not familiar with that particular fairy-tale. You possibly know more about fairies though. Enlighten me when you are not too busy doing your nails.
Why don't you restrict your comments to this channel, it seems disjointed posting one-liners on my home-page,a rather weak strategy.
I shall look forward to your scintillating assertion that you will muster all your resources and beg, steal and borrow every mundane cliche you can find outside of 'posh' Barnsley.
As for bikes, what did Brando ride in the Wild One (and a host of others in real life)?
And it wasn't a Harley.
And find one American car to compare to an Aston Martin. Yank cars can go fast in a straight line (pity you have such slow speed limits in the US of A) but put them anywhere with the slightest of bends and they can't compete.
Ignorant Yanks didn't know their own musical roots which influenced Presley until British bands like the Stones introduced them to blues music.
2/ Four lads from Liverpool would be The Fourmost, or any other clone with a scouse accent. Come-on, The Beatles took all their inspiration from one man, possibly several, but of course, Elvis 'taught' your limp-wristed boys how to do it.
this song has to be one of the best ever recored in UK... by one of the best rock and rollers of all time ... yes!!! Mr. Billy Fury who else ?.. he was fabulous !!!! rip ... dear Billy .... thanx for posting this gem ... Lyndloo...

You people know shit! You have never been so far away. You sit in your armchairs, while many are far awy from home. Yet you elect an idiot who never served one day in the armed forces. You dont even know if he is real. He is half way through your ignorance
tut tut it is you who who is the idiot, see it is right what they say;"it takes one to know one" so you and the idiot who is our P.M are reklated you are both "idiots" yeah twins!!!!!!!!!!
It's time that a chronicle of those times were featured.Interesting too that Cliff and the Shads-separately and together are nos.2&3 in the best selling singles (in Britain)chart of all time -after Elvis (Guiness BOR)and LP's(albums)were not on the agenda.Billy Fury would have been much bigger if his ill health had not hampered him as his act, looks, and voice had it all--great pictures too!

They were Sanskrits.
The rest of your inarticulate drivel is not worthy of comment. You are ignorant and ill-educated, like most of your fellow daft British tits.
WALRU1I 7 months ago
@WALRU1I You really should not believe the dishonest version of history which is drummed into the minds of American schoolchildren. Scalping was invented by white settlers who needed proof of the number of Indians they had killed in order to claim the bounty that was placed upon them. The Indians were Sanskrits? Sanskrit is a language, you idiot.
PrettiestDogEver 4 months ago
@PrettiestDogEver What makes your version of events any more truthful than mine? Yours is propaganda. It was the British Imperial Forces that caused the scalping to take place. That is universal fact, not American dogma. As for your 'Sanskrit' definition, yes, it is a universal language of the nomadic Sanskrit indian found originally in the Asian continent from whence they travelled to America. You never studied history and have a poor general knowledge. At least you own the 'rights' to 'idiot.'
WALRU1I 4 months ago
@WALRU1I You cited the practice of scalping as evidence of the Red Indians' savagery, suggesting that they were/are sub-human and deserving of genocide. I pointed out that scalping was invented and practised by white people, including those who rebelled against the lawful authority of the king in parliament while claiming that all men are created equal (except the red ones and the black ones). Sanskrit is not a universal language, just one part of the Indo-European group. It is not a race.
PrettiestDogEver 4 months ago
@PrettiestDogEver As an historical revisionist, you are poor. The Red Indians, employed by the British insisted on scalping any American (not Patriot) they captured. Through those actions (the first to be scalped was an American female) ensued the blood-bath and hatred vented upon them.
If i say they are savages, it's because any inhuman action warrants such a term. As for ''Sub-human'' and ''genocide'', that's you trying to make a case for your miserable, wretched self. Your words are yours.
WALRU1I 4 months ago
@WALRU1I The British government paid Indians to kill British subjects? Wake up and smell the bullshit! Thousand of Bitish troops died defending the Americans from the results of their own greed and cruelty. The white settlers slaughtered and robbed the Indians because they wanted their land. It upset the settlers that King George III tried to protect the red men from the depredations of the white ones. You are the one who said that the Indians deserved to be killed.
PrettiestDogEver 4 months ago 3
@PrettiestDogEver Snide remarks such as ''repressed lust for men'' are just distraction techniiques from a pedestrian tit that has no answer to more serious questions. Your translation of prose is also confused. I did not claim the British government paid indians to kill British subjects.'' They (the savages) killed Americans, or those that supported George Washington (remember him?) The Patriots (American turncoats ie British subjects) were not scalped. You need to read history, not make-it-up.
WALRU1I 4 months ago
@WALRU1I You are a repressed homosexual who is frightened of his attraction to Billy, hence your insults to him. The Americans were British subjects until the rebels won the war. Washington was the arrogant, incompetent idiot who started the Seven Years War, which cost Britain tens of thousands of lives and increased the National Debt to a size that could not be serviced by normal revenues. That is why the Americans were asked to pay a little more tax.
PrettiestDogEver 4 months ago 3
@PrettiestDogEver cont' Your 'hang-up' over race, colour and creed is oversensitive. What are you on, a moral-high-horse, looking to vanquish imaginary demons. Take your Marxist drivel elsewhere and stop trying to create a situation that only exists (thankfully) in your narrow mind. I'd say those that shout about racism are the most likely to be a racist. Are you?
Sanskrit is a language, there is also European Sanskrit, making it fairly universal. It is derived from ancient Sanskrit culture.
WALRU1I 4 months ago
@WALRU1I I don't have a hang-up but it is clear that you have several. Were you frothing at the mouth when you wrote this? I suggest you read some real history, i.e. not written by Americans. You should also come to terms with your repressed lust for men instead of projecting your sexual fantasies onto poor, dead Billy, who cannot defend himself, you cowardly little shit.
PrettiestDogEver 4 months ago 4
@PrettiestDogEver I don't ''froth'' and neither do i use foul language, which proves, if anything that you are a tad upset, maybe frothing. Those that use expletives in debate are of little intelligence. Your obvious racism is compounded by your American/English version of American history. What makes your version any more valid than mine, save that your subjectivity is prejudiced. You first used 'yank' which is a derogatory term meaning you have a problem with your superiors. We did beat you!
WALRU1I 4 months ago
@WALRU1I The only emotion you create in me is contempt. You did not beat us; the French did, at the cost to them of their colonies in India, which were much more worthwhile to Britain than the loss-making American colonies. Several countries other than France allied themselves with the rebels, mainly in the hope of grabbing some British territory. These countires included Spain, Russia, Prussia, Denmark and Holland. We beat all of them. All we lost was a bunch of ingrates, to use an Americanism.
PrettiestDogEver 4 months ago 4
@PrettiestDogEver Of course the Indians deserved to be killed. If they had gone on scalping unabated, there would be no American people per se. That reasoning applies to most scenarios. Perhaps you would have preferred it if your Nazi friends had conquered the world. You profess concern for the ''Black man and Red man'' yet indicate hatred for nationality. Was your mother duped by a G.I.? Did she have plenty of chocolate and stockings against the poverty of her friends? Is your name 'Chuck?'

@oldgeeze1 I have. Now look at yours. Your country once had a Black King and you also stuck young children up chimneys and paedophilia was seemingly lawful. As was opium across the counter. I wouldn't be too 'proud' of your history or selective.
WALRU1I 1 year ago
@WALRU1I What black king you idiot im very proud of my country and its history why dont you check and see just how many of the worlds great inventions come from these islands lets start with the jet engine..........over to you plank.
oldgeeze1 1 year ago
@oldgeeze1 Don't be so stupid, especially in public. The jet engine was a German invention -V2- which, at the fall of the Third Reich, was sequestered by the Americans and Russians to enhance the space-race, which incidentally, the Americans 'won.' You should be ''proud'' of your country. You gave the world concentration camps and turned the Chinese people into opium addicts.
Your Black King was a feudal king of Berber descent, b.c. History is not your strong-point. How about flower arranging?
WALRU1I 1 year ago
@WALRU1I you really are an idiot the V2 had a rocket engine not a jet engine two completely different things the jet engine was invented in the 1920's. As far as this berber rubbish goes thats what it is RUBBISH.As far as concentration camps are concerned look at the American Civil War,and the Chinese had been using opium for many hundreds of years
oldgeeze1 1 year ago
@oldgeeze1 Perhaps a more suitable user name for you would be 'senileoldgeeze1'. To recap; the jet engine was a German invention, or at least shared with British scientist, Sir Frank Whittle. Dr.Hans Von Ohain first flew a jet engine aircraft in 1939 and Whittle's in 1941. Similar in propulsion but different in internal arrangement, both patented their engines.
If you care to look at the timeline you will notice that the dates are coinciding with the onset of WW2. Rocket science is beyond you.
WALRU1I 1 year ago
@oldgeeze1 2/ cont. You will see that jet propulsion leads to rocket propulsion. Concentration camps were used by the British in 1853 during the Crimea and the Boer conflict of 1880. The American Civil War (nothing to do with the British unless you meant the Independence War ) of 1861 certainly falls after the Crimea. I reiterate and stand by the assertion that the British introduced opium to the Chinese during the Qing Dynasty of 1839. The Black King was Septimus Severus. He was a Berber.
WALRU1I 1 year ago
@oldgeeze1 3/ cont; If you are a reflection of British Society and stand as a monolith of historical authority then it is to be expected that the world's people laugh at your tiny island. Your up-and-at-them, muck-and-bullets philosophy is exactly why your country is mired in the past and even third-world countries are far more advanced than your aged, primordial country.
The problem is with the outdated and anachronistic thinking by people like you. Take your Billy Gayboy photos and suffocate.

@oldgeeze1 Now don't you get excited, your Pacemaker might explode. However, you should accept that Mr. Severus was indeed a King of England as well as a Roman Emperor of Nubian stock.
It is widely acknowledged by qualified historians and noted in the annals of history. You however are devoid of intelligence.
WALRU1I 1 year ago
@WALRU1I
a simple History lesson for you.................there was no England when the Romans were here, it was known as Briton. England came into being after the arrival of the various Germanic Tribes.....Angles/Jutes/Saxons and Friesans. Commonly known today as the Anglo-Saxons.
Englands name comes from the people known as the Angles from the area of Angeln in Shleswig Holstein.
Anglaland=Land of the Angles.
Romannelli1 10 months ago
@Romannelli1 Don't be so patronising. Here's a 'simple history lesson' for you. With historical revision, it is proper and correct to refer to anything A.D. as England. So King Severus was King of England. Not Britain, Briton, or Ancient Briton. Nor, Romans, Vikings, Normans and nor was any other King ruler over any group or sub-sect. They ruled over England.
You might like to keep your big cucumber nose out of users' affairs unless you have anything positive to contribute.
WALRU1I 8 months ago
@WALRU1I Oh dear! your ignorance knows no bounds, how many times do you need to be told, England come into being in 'NAME' by virtue of the People who gave it its name after the 5 century AD when the various Germanic Tribes, Angles/Saxons/Jutes and Frisians from the north of Holland who settled here. Now Listen very carefully, I shall say this only once! there has never been a King Severus of 'ENGLAND'.

SelenicMagick 10 months ago
@jarvsie He was King of England. if 'Googling' is beyond you, then find a decent history book. Your reference to Whittle and Ohain are irrelevant. I pointed out the timeline in an earlier post. @brigader4heart Excuse me... but Native Americans have NEVER BEEN "Indians" nor, contrary to your ignorant racist comment, has their skin ever truly been RED.

WALRU1I 2 years ago
Helen Shapiro had a voice far superior to anything in the UK or US. One doesn't want to points-score off you but since when have you had an actor to match Sir Lawrence Olivier? One thinks that the answer is NO. In terms of motorcycles, Harley-Davison make tractors. Try going around the Isle of Man on one of those! In terms of culture not wishing to be uncharitable, whilst the British can be a somewhat snobbish race, in most countries your culture is about as welcome as a shit in a swimming pool!
burnley5960 2 years ago
And she soon faded-out after one real hit-record. As for 'Larry'. You might well have the monopoly on actors speaking in received English with many plums in their mouths.
Of the era, America gave the world method-acting and Marlon Brando, Paul Newmanand Steve McQueen wooed the hearts of many a British girl. 'Larry' might have got the attention of many lads like yourself.
B.S.A. is no match for a Harley. I think you'll find America rules the world and certainly sent the British on their way.

I'm sure this isn't the original recording of Halfway to Paradise.
littleshoemaker 3 years ago
its not is a remake the original has more punch!!
paulmeekin 3 years ago
yes, it does. Unfortunately this is not it! Billy recorded this version in the early 80s, he did the original in 1961.

Visit `Radband` for the original.

This song is sung by Billy Fury one of the British all time greats. The other artists mentioned played no part in this title.
