her mother was caught in a war and the chief got kateri"s mother and the chief wanted kateri"S mother to marry him and they got marry and there was probelm her mother was a christian and her father was not then her family all died and when she turned 20 she finnlly recieved the batispm when she goes out to fetch water chidren will splash water all over her and say "Ha Ha! Your being batispe again"

I pray that one day Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha be recognized as a Saint of Holy Mother Church, but in terms of The Church's 1st First Nation (American Indian) Saint, it would be St. Juan Diego ( St. Cuauhtlatoatzin, ora pro nobis). He was/is a Mexica (Aztec). I guess Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha would be The United States' (or rather what would become The USA) 1st First Nation Saint. May she soon be recognized as a Saint by Holy Mother Church.

She's not a saint yet. But she will be... hopefully soon. No, I'm not sure if there ever was a conversion. By the way, the chief in Auriesville was her uncle.

I just realized that some sources say her father was a chief as well, so maybe he became chief after he died. I'm not sure, though.

This is very true...she intercedes for us even without our asking. I suspect she intercedes for all Native people. I know she was with me for a long time, even before I came to the church.
