  • HOW MUCH DOES IT COST I WAANT TO PUT IT ON MY 1.8 T GOLF

  • Easy way to get rid of turbo lag,,,drop a gear. Duh.

  • ATP kit = garbage! goapr

  • COULD ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT HAPPENDS IF I ONLY CHANGE MI ORIGINAL KO3S, WHITH A GT28RS....AND NOTHING ELSE??? I ALREADY HAVE F.INTERCOOLER AND 3" DOWNPIPE, AND CAI....PLEASE HELP!!

  • @juliangamboa69

it would run like crap. you need software, fuel injectors, and possibly a fuel pump. also gt28rs is not just a straight swap, you'll need related hardware

  • With my gti it starts spooling at 2.5 rpm and doesnt stop until i reach the red line. I would prefer smaller turbos which are more fun for me ...

  • Not alot of lag, Sure there is alot more lag, and you dont spool as quick as the K03, but the boost doesnt taper off at 5000rpm like the K03.

I get full boost (25psi) @ 4000rpm, and it can hold it to redline almost. By the time you shift, you back into full boost.

  • yes but big turbo comes at a price: LAG!!!

never assume that you can do a better job than the engineers at porsche, audi and kkk.

  • @olioli917 KKK? Ku Klux Klan? lol

  • @carnivor9595 no lol. KKK read as "triple k" which stands for Kuhnle, Kopp & Kausch. They make turbines and turbines and turbochargers for audi and porsche..

  • @olioli917 lol u probably should have specified that.

  • @olioli917 who the hell considers a gt28rs to be a big turbo? it's barely even medium sized

  • @1gt4dude You're right, but it's all relative. It's a lot bigger than the stock turbo, and we're still talking about a relatively LOW displacement engine. So maybe it's considered small for a 5 or 6 cyl engines, but for a 1.8, it's kinda big, and you can tell by the lag.

  • @1gt4dude well the K03 is a small turbo, but it can still output 235 hp with the 1.8t, while gt28rs which is medium size can output 350 hp... low displacement engines do not benefit much from large turbos, these are meant for big engines with more than 4.0L

  • @lordoftheriffs79 gt28rs would bottleneck a 4.0L, I have this on a 2.0L and it has over 16psi available just under 3000 rpm, throttle response is instant from the tip of the pedal down as low as 2200rpm.

These are best used on 1.8L - 2.2L where low down power is required.

  • @1gt4dude when i said large turbos, i meant gt35r and upwards which are not suitable for 2.0L, but for 4.0L an upwards...

  • @olioli917

When you swap out the hot side of the turbo with a smaller unit, it spools up faster. This is what APR did to make the GT28RS have less turbo lag than stock.

The engineers at Volkswagen Group obviously designed the engine with tuning in mind. These handle nearly twice their original power output without having to modify any of the stock internals. They intentionally limit the engines to around 200hp so the average joe isn't burning his tires off on accident.

  • @olioli917 This isnt always true, if you were to bore out the cylinder of a 1.8t to 1.9t you lag would be considerably less.

  • @olioli917 a gt28rs turbo BARELY has any lag.... once you get into the 30r, 35r and 37r sizes is where lag plays a very big part of its physical size.

if youve ever seen a stock triple k turbo for VW's these things a TEENY TINY, they spool as low as 1500rpm and run out of breath as early as 5k rpm.

a gt28rs spools slightly slower, at around 2-2500rpm and will flow as much air as you want provided you have the additional head mods

  • @olioli917 somebody hasn't got a clue about tuning cars.... and kkk make the crappiest turbo's any ways Garrett is by far better

  • @doomie61 really!? Garrett makes a better product right!? Well, I hope your new MEXICAN MADE Garrett (Honeywell actually, HTT) makes a good upgrade! BorgWarner is the co. that makes (kkk) turbos now. KKK is old school generation. And who said they were crappy?! I had one and it was great. Of course it was stock. And what exactly qualifies YOU to determine what a good or 'crappy' turbo is. Have you ever designed a centrifugal compressor blade?!

  • i like them lol

  • that tubo is the worst, i have an audii tt quattro with an 2871r rl eiminator kit and i want to destroi it....the worst kit in my life.

to much Temperatur, to much lag and no power.....

  • Not the same turbo.

  • 4500 dollars just for the setup. . . Too pricy.

  • That includes all the parts you need and software.

  • nice but at what co$t?
