I think Samuel Barber wrote this quite a while before Platoon was filmed, so you can hardly say this song is 'from Platoon'.

Plenty of people have sampled Adagio for strings. However, the most notable has to be William Orbit's version, which is truly magnificent.

This is a little repepetive, but considring the age of the person who made it, it's pretty decent.
