In fact, Madonna meant Latin cultures with La Isla Bonita but Alizée plays with it. She comes from Corsica, a really small island in mediteranean sea. In french, we use to call it "L'ile de la Beauté" wich in english means "The beauty island". I think that's why she sang it. She uses Madonna's song to "honour" her native island. (I don't know if anyone understood me, I'm french & I'm not that good at english ^^')

This one has a soothing cool ocean breeze texture to it, while her earlier version is more flat out alluring, especially with the video of her performing it. I love both versions.
