what do use for mastering?

@cbr0oks I work all in pro tools..... I can't quite remember but I dont think I mastered this audio, and even if I did I'm afraid I don't know much about mastering. I would have just added some compression and upped the level as much as I could without causing clipping.

Very interesting approach with the piano. Your voice is really close to Buckley's, just as maniacal ;-) The last bit gave me chills :-) One small point of criticism though: I found you through a tech forum looking for info about the Fast Track Ultra, and I would've expected a better mix - the vocal is simply too loud (or the piano too soft). I'll be following you!

@jbdazen Yeah, sometimes I am up till all hours recording this stuff so I don't spend a lot of time comping the mixes on different sources. On my monitors it sounds comfortable but I'm sure it can sound a lot different on other sources. But it wasn't the gear that made the mistake, it was me!

Good stab at a difficult tune. Extremely dynamic vocals and involved piano structures makes for a really hard song to execute. I do not think most would have picked this song to cover. Paz.

Got your invite tonight and listened to two songs right off the bat - your Pearl Jam cover of Elderly Woman, and this song (since I'm a fan of both PJ and Jeff B.). The PJ cover I liked. This one, not so much. The piano was great, & you have a very good voice. But this is a complex song, tonally...and I could barely recognize your vocal arrangement as the original song. I think you sort of 'over-arranged' this song, if you know what I mean. I'd love to hear you sing it as Jeff recorded it.

Not to sound harsh here, I love the song "Grace" but this version really doesn't do it for me. I know it's a cover, don't get me wrong, but some of the vocal work could have done with a bit more thought. Jeff Buckley is pretty much an impossible man to compete or compare to, but I just couldn't get into this.

On another note, enjoyed some of the piano work and the odd vocal bit. Like the bit at 4mins in, with a tad more work on that "behind" it would be sweet!

@seanoreillyband Haha, there are some that take it a tad over board >..< I'm not violently upset by any means, on the contrary, with more work and some smoothing out, you'd have a cracking cover there.
