  • prince of darkness is a great carpenter movie

  • ed gein butcher of the plainfield sucked ass

  • hey KJ! can you send a link with the website to me? :) i need to tjeck it out!

  • They live is a classic Carpenter Flick, can't go wrong with the Thing.

  • Awesome list there, great edition of the 3 Halloween films there. H20 is amazing, and is one of my favorites of the original series. I really like the Rob Zombie ones as well, I like the contrast between the 2 series of Halloween. Plus you can never go wrong with Michael Myers in any way.

  • Great picks : ), the other ED GEIN movie without Kane Hodder is Directed by Chuck Parello, and Stars: Steve Railsback as Ed Gein, it's a much better film that the Kane Hodder version, Kane is way too big to play Ed Gein IMHO.........."You 'aint seen The Howling!!!!!!", that's a Hanging Offence, No Judge, No Jury- Straight to Execution LOL!

  • Try Deranged its a great little Ed Gein(ish) film. Its on an MGM double bill disc with Motel Hell or you can get a nice region 2 German disc with some interesting extras, its in English as well. Love Dog Soldiers.

  • My film appreciation teacher was the assistant director on H20

  • UPDATE: In my weakness, I have succumbed to Ghosthunters live, even though they don't find jack shite. Next up -- The Walking Dead at 10. Now, how can I not watch that? After, I will dive back into my stack. The night is young... Who else is watching The Walking Dead?

  • @cackalackymovies Can't wait to watch The Walking Dead. I really dig your updates guys. Keep the videos coming.

  • Ah, cool, good to hear you've scored at the pawn shops! Our new Field Trip video will be going up tomorrow. Enjoy your comedy-horrorathon.

  • Great vid as usual Jason. I'm not really a horror fan, so this Halloween I am focusing comedies with horror elements. Already have watched Tremors and Fido. Still on tap are Ghostbusters, Zombieland, Shaun of the Dead, and possibly Bubba Ho-Tep if I have time. Good thing I don't have to work tomorrow. Can't wait for your next field trip video. Because of you guys I have started hitting my local pawn shops regularly and have found some great finds.

  • No A Nightmare on Elm Street? oh man..

  • @schwank3110 So many movies, so little time.

  • UPDATE: Happy Halloween Denizens! Last night after The Howling, I watched H2O while putting up my new shelving. Then I watched Halloween 6, followed by Prince of Darkness. First up today is They Live. I've added another film to my stack: My Bloody Valentine 3d on Bluray. I've gotta watch it. I'll prob watch a little Ghosthunters live, follwed by The Walking Dead on AMC (HELL yes). Then, i'll end the evening with Dog Soldiers. What do you guys think? And what are your plans?

  • @cackalackymovies Dog Soldiers...great choice Jason...your gonna love it! I think H20 was an inspired homage to the original (loved Jamie Lee Curtis going all Ripley on Michael Myers!). I hated My Bloody Valentine but maybe i wasnt in the mood for it (the tone was very similar to the very poor Final Destination sequels). Im also looking forward to The Walking Dead series....we get it over here in the UK next weekend! Happy Halloween KJ!

  • @VegasDannyReturns Ok, great, thanks for your input! Happy Halloween yourself!!

  • @VegasDannyReturns Are you watching any movies today, or partying?

  • @cackalackymovies We had a few friends over last night....i just sent you the first part to my Halloween Weekend video. We watched The Collector and Frozen which i really enjoyed. Tonight its just me and my girlfriend....we just watched Halloween on bluray and soon we have REC 2 lined up....

  • the hills have eyes 2 sucked

  • @reddeath2010 Yeah, that's what everyone is saying.

  • @cackalackymovies I second that!

  • Just to let you know.....Halloween the curse H20 and Resurrection are available in a three movie bluray pack from alliance in canada. They look and sound great.

  • @DARKHAWKMARK Thanks for the heads up! I hate Resurrection, but would like to have the other 2 on blu.

  • Great update dude Dog soldiers is great better than The Descent IMHO Howling too classic horror Hope you both have a brilliant Halloween!!!!!

  • @Posthuman2003 Really? You're the first person to say that. The Descent was a great film. If Dog Soldiers is even half as good, i'll be pleased. If i find it to be better than The Descent, what a great Halloween for me! Happy Halloween to you too!

  • Happy Halloween Guys! {",}

  • @septemberblueuk Hey, Happy Halloween to you as well!!

  • i think the hills have eyes 1 is better than number 2 what do you think KJ ?

  • Must watch they live and prince of darkness, don't not watch those. They live is in my top three carpenter movies, I may even say ahead of halloween and fog. Actually watching it right now on amc. Prince of Darkness is another beast, only seen it once but I need to fit it in tomorrow. It's a very strange movie, shit loads of atmosphere. I'd say fit Hills 2 and feast 2 in if time permits. Feast 2 is pretty bad aside from the one shocking scene.

  • @Br4inDeadDan Yeah, due to all of the comments about Feast The Hills.. they have fallen to the bottom of my stack. Prince of Darkness is fantastic. And all the positive comments about They Live is getting me pumped to watch it. Ahead of Halloween and The Fog? Damn, it must be good. You have plans for movie watching today?

  • @cackalackymovies They Live is good...but it aint no The Thing or Halloween....

  • @cackalackymovies actually snubbed the thing for a second. The Thing, They Live, Fog, and Halloween. Halloween last FTW! No reason, just prefer the others way more.

Busy day, already watched they live, prince of darkness, silent hill, and Frankenstein must be destroyed. Going to fit in from dusk till dawn, NOTD, suspiria, and if time permits one of the hammer dracula films. I'll have to hold off on the walking dead until tomorrow. Not sure if you're checking that out.

  • They Live was fantastic and contains the greatest movie line in film history. I don't need to quote it here. You will know...

  • @thecollector1138 Ha! I'll be sure to quote it after I see it. It's the first film I'm watching today.

  • They Live is one of Carpenters best and Prince of Darkness is good as well.

  • @CradleofFear333 I watched Prince of Darkness lat night and I loved it. Great pacing, building the tension to the end...just like everyone on here said. The crazy laughing black dude with the slit throat was awesome. Always good to see Donald Pleasance as well. They Live kicks off the second part of my marathon today!

  • Happy Halloween Cackalacky going to the parade New York here. so you kno is going crazy.

  • @MegaWhackMan Thanks, and Happy Halloween yourself!

  • Abby - Scored from Ebay it's released by SUBSTANCE (No never heard of em either! LOL) R1 - Has Magdalena possessed by the devil on same disc. There is a 'collectors' edition of Abby out there but I'm not sure who put that out - There's a copy up for auction at the Mo' - I love Will Girdler (Director) so may take a gamble. It's pretty throw away! Has the Dude from Blakula.

    HEY MAN HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

  • @broken1394 The collector's edition was released by cinefear. As I recall, it actually did have some cool features on it. If you like Girdler, you really need to check out cinefear.com. If you happen to buy anything, tell Keith Crocker (site owner) Jason from the Cackalacky Movie Madness youtube channel sent you. And, let me know what you think.

  • they live, the howling and dog soldiers are all classic movies the hills have eyes 2 was legit imo but not too good

  • @orc145626 Yeah, i'm not hearing good things about The Hills Have Eyes 2 here. Thanks for the input!

  • Comment removed

  • They Live is one of my favorite Carpenter films. My wife actually said to me today "Hey, we should watch 'They Live' tonight"

  • @duderancher13 I'll most likely watch that and Prince of darkness back to back. Thanks for the input!

  • Nice picks, kind of different from the usual from other people.

    Mine this Halloween are :

    - Rob Zombie's Halloween

    - Rob Zombie's Halloween 2

    - Romero's Day of the Dead

    - Poltergeist

    - Event Horizon

    - Return of the Living Dead

  • @HappyHuntingMSK That's a fun, festive Halloween lineup right there.

  • Prince of darkness is one of my favorite Carpenter movies

  • @dvdmike007 Well, I look forward to seeing it. Thanks for sharing!

  • Krazy Jason Update: Just finished The Howling. Def. had that Joe Dante style. While the effects are woefully dated, I appreciate what they were able to accomplish for the time period. One thing that stood out that is yet ANOTHER thing lacking in today's movies is a well rounded cast. Not a bad egg in the bunch. Even characters that just had one line were great. Next up: Dog Soldiers.

  • What's up Krazy Jason?! Had to give you a little heads up on Hills Have Eyes 2...

    STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trust me, you're better off not watching this film!

Too bad you guys couldn't actually do what you had planned for your blu ray bullshit! That would have been sweet. Next year for sure! Take care!

  • @LordJuggalo5150 Lol, seems to be the consensus. Yep, next year fo sho!

  • @chrisastoyan Thanks! Yeah, Motel Hell is another one of those movies i've always wanted to watch but never got a chance. So many good ones from the 80's...

  • Fantastic idea for a video, Jason! Doing Horror movie marathons on Halloween is awesome. I might do that myself.

You never ever saw "They Live"??? Shame on you! ;-) It was actually the very first movie I owned on VHS back then.

Oh oh, better skip "Hill have Eyes 2". I loved the first remake too, but this one sucks balls. Shame it was made by a German director.

"Blair Witch" is probably the best selection for Halloween of this bunch. Pure masterpiece.

Thanks for sharing, sir! Happy Halloween!

  • @LiveFastDiarrhea Thanks, man! No, much to my shame I haven't. I need to be flogged in front of the entire DVD community. That is a shame about Hills Have Eyes 2. I was really looking forward to it. I'm looking forward to re-visiting Blair Witch after all these years. What did you think of Book of Shadows? Not a great film, but I think it's good cheesy fun.

  • @cackalackymovies That's right, flog him! I'll choose the whip! lol

Hills Have Eyes 2 some nice gore effects, but that's about it. No real plot, annoying and stupid characters and no suspense at all.

Actaully Book of Shadows is a real guilty pleasure of mine, I like it a lot. If you don't set it into relation to the first one, it's very enjoyable. The gothic chick character is perfect for the film and memorable.

  • J -

    Few faves-

Maniac, Basket Case, Val Lewton - I walked with a zombie, From beyond the grave, Lon Chaney sr is my favourite horror actor -

The Unkown & Laugh clown laugh (neither of which are horror!)

I just watched Abby (Black exorcist) Fucking shitty print - Not sure what else I'll do - l have prob 400 horror dvds!! Might do Phantasm 2. Orig Hills have eyes, Martyrs & Cutting moments. LOL

  • @broken1394 GREAT list there. Did you happen to order Abby from Cinefear.com?

  • ok buddy. trick or treat is on its way just dropped it off at the post office. you should recieve it by Thursday or friday. hope u enjoy.

  • @horror408 Awesome! We will keep an eye out. Looking forward to finally seeing it!

  • dog soldiers was surpise, good werewolf film, some jokes works only for europeans i guess, i have here unwatched h5 and h6, real bargains, maybe i watch h6 first, continuation of this series is what it is. theres some unofficial producers cut of this one, whats that about

  • @waegiz37 Hmm, i can't honestly remember what the producer's cut is all about. Looking forward to Dog Soldiers!

  • cool ive seen ed gein and would rather see hell night. ill send trick or treat asap so u guys can check it out. just let me know what u think.

  • @horror408 Ok, thanks!

  • Update: I'm watching The Howling right now. I couldn't ignore all of the positive comments about it. Was that Roger Corman who stepped into the phone booth near the beginning of the film? Had to be.

  • for halloween i watch halloween themed films that what i watch.. on friday the 13th i watch the friday the 13th movies. other days/nights i atch general horror or general films

  • @BRm2008 I gotcha. Certainly, I love to watch F13th films on every Friday the 13th.

  • Man your gonna LUV They Live & Prince of Darkness. Later builds tension like no other film, haunting images.

  • @JoeyPineapples Great! Thanks for getting me stoked!

  • Here are some movies that need to be on a Halloween list. 1) the entity 2) clownhouse 3) hell night 4) tourist trap 5) trick or treat 6) night of the demons (original). these are movies that are great that many people dont talk about after the early 90's horror movies fell to shit and there wasn't alot good movies coming out. so check these out and i promise u wont be disappointed.

  • @horror408 Great, thanks for your list! The Entity is awesome, and can be watched repeatedly, IMO. I may replace Ed Gein with Hell Night in my stack..

  • Let's keep the discussion going, everyone! Throw out your picks for Halloween viewing. I have a question about The Howling. How many of you saw this as a kid? Is it one of those movies that I can enjoy just as much as an adult? Or is it one of those nostalgic films that one cherishes from the teen years?

  • oh man u haven't seen hell night that movie is a classic. if u like send me a address or p.o box and ill send u a copy of trick or treat i have like 4 copies i know its out of print so it might be hard to find. its not a problem.

  • @horror408 Sure thing man, it's CMM PO Box 173 Landrum, SC 29356. I'll let you know what i think. :) Hell Night isn't in my stack, but I do want to see it soon.

  • @ItsMeTNG Yeah, I haven't been hearing good things about this version of Ed Gein. Thanks for watching!

  • The Howling is by far on the same page as American Werewolf in London it also has the Late John Carridine, Slim Pickens in it too a 8/10 in my book!

  • @patfacetheblackwing The Howling seems to be the most loved film in my stack.

  • You'll dig they live - pretty cool Carpenter. Howling is okay - Not as big on it as many, Joe Dante is cool though. Ed Gein I saw one version, don't think it was Kane Hodder - Light on gore, worth a watch - Go Ed! Blair Witch I love. That's a good stack bro. I need to check out HHE remake. LOL

  • @broken1394 Thanks! You have some picks for Halloween?

  • Dog soldiers is a great brit horror although he did up the game with the descent, prince of darkness is great although i consider they live to be more sci fi its still a good movie. My list is creepshow, the fog(origonal),the amicus collection inc asylum,dr terrors house of horror etc, creep which is another good brit horror unfluenced by the underground tube scene in american werewolf,re animator, quatermass and the pit which i think was released in the us as 5 million years to earth, its a classic.

  • @groucho69ful I watched The Pit. It's on one of the Anchor Bay drive in double feature releases. The other one on the disc being Hellgate. But you're talking about the tv show Quatermass and The Pit, right?

  • @cackalackymovies no the film version made by hammer in 1967 and it starred Andrew Kerr as quatermas, its an old film but its got an eerieness about it,again its got a london undrground theme.if you can get hold of them there,s three good brit horror movies creep as i mentioned ,the cottage and severence, all worth a look.hope you guys have a good halloween, and keep up the good work, always look forward to your vids.

  • @groucho69ful Ok, will keep an eye out for those. Thanks for the kind words, and have a good Halloween yourself!

  • Nice picks dude, prince of darkness and they live are solid choices (i have always felt that they live was more of a bridge flick, sci fi horror and action), good fun too!. Never viewed Dog Soldiers yet, let us know what the lowdown is on that one dude. Have a happy and safe h-ween!

  • @EnduranceProductions Sure thing, man and you have a good one too!!

  • awesome vid man. a good movie to watch on Halloween is "Hell Night" starring Linda Blair thats a good movie that is forgotten. i guess u haven't had any luck finding that trick or treat movie i was telling you about with Ozzy Osbourne and Gene Simmons? Have a happy halloween buddy. im spending my Halloween trying to finish up my horror tattoo sleeve.

  • @horror408 No, I still haven't run across a copy of Trick or Treat. I'll be on the lookout for Hell Night as well.

  • They Live is so badass. Hopefully you'll like it too. Dog Soldier is a pretty good one too. Happy watching.

  • @reelSinema Cool, thanks for the input. Any movies you'd like to share for Halloween watching?

  • I'm a big fan of the Halloween series, but H2O is a shitter of a film. Maybe it's because it's so much like Scream, another film I cannot stand to watch again. I'll be watching the rest of the Halloween series tomorrow night. Today, I'm not sure. Maybe some original TCM and Special Edition Child's Play. Good video. Thanks for sharing.

  • @LexiconTWR I understand about H2O and Scream, etc... Had I been in a different, more discerning mood when I first saw those films, I probably would have hated them too. Watched the original TCM earlier in the month. It was my 2 disc ultimate edition (steelbook, hell yeah!). The film was restored, and upscales nicely. Honestly, I don't think I'm going to buy the Bluray.

  • @cackalackymovies The steel book looks great. For me though, the shittier the quality of TCM the better it is. I actually decided to start my horror movie marathon with Tales from the Hood lol

  • Great picks!

I love The Thing and The Howling. To me The Howling is the best werewolf film I've seen. Scared me to death when I was younger.

I really liked Halloween H20, but the film after that really made me mad. I've tried watching more of the Halloween series, but I just can't get into them. I love the first two though. I think I'll watch the Rob zombie re-makes sometime.

Film I'm watching this halloween: Lady In White, The Fog, The Orphanage, and some others. I've seen a few already

  • @dmfriend25 Oh yeah, Resurrection to me is the only one out of the bunch that I consider to be completely unwatchable. The re-makes have grown on me. They started to become a secret guilty pleasure, but fudge that, I'm out in the open with the remakes baby! Ohhhh, Lady In White has perfect atmosphere for Halloween viewing. That's kind of a forgotten gem there.

  • @cackalackymovies Yeah, I LOVE Lady in White. We watched Arachnophobia last night. Another favorite of mine. It's scary and nostalgic to me, because I'm arachnophobic myself. I recently watched Last House on the Left, and I enjoyed it. The last 15 minutes of the movie made the movie for me. Gotta love Wes Craven. :)

  • other movies I plan to watch is Angel Heart and Teeth

  • @mentokthemilfspunker Angel Heart, interesting choice. Def. has nice, moody atmosphere.

  • @cackalackymovies Yeah it does. it's one of those movies where you kinda know where it's going but it's still a great time getting there. plus i'm a huge fan of mickey rourke and robert de niro plays his character to the hilt. can't say enough about it.

  • I loved feast but the second and third is awful there funny but as movies they suck.

  • @mindwarpmovies Kind of what I figured.

  • Great picks Krazy Jason!!!

I am also going to see "The hills have eyes 2"

    Great video my dude :)

    -Manuel

  • @TheMoviefreak300 Awesome, let me know what you think. Watching anything else for Halloween?

  • @cackalackymovies i am also going to see Dawn of the death (remake), Paranormal activity 1 (again), Nightmare on elm street 3, Case 39, halloween 2 (remake) and other random horror movies.

  • They Live and Prince of Darkness are awesome movies!

  • @mentokthemilfspunker Great! What are you watching on the holy of holies?

  • the thing..best carpenter..period..the howling is great..robs effects work is incredible my friend..the hills have eyes 2 is poor...where is trick r treat or drag me to hell??

  • @brewt1mer Let me tell you, I think Trick r Treat and Drag Me To Hell (Sam Raimi in top form, a worthy successor to the Evil Dead movies) would be fantastic top notch choices for watching on Halloween. The fact that I own them on Bluray makes it even better. I keep hearing great things about The Howling, can't wait to see it.

  • Piper is the man in They Live, the fight scene from this movie in the alley is also in a episode of South Park called Cripple Fight, between Timmy and Jimmy.

Feast 2 is a sloppy, gory, nasty and funny film, part 3 is good too but the end will have you going WTF?

    Happy Halloween.

  • @AtomicKingZilla Roddy Piper, Jayzus he was hilariously bad in Hell Comes To Frogtown. Sloppy, gory, nasty, lol. sounds great.

  • Great video Krazy Jason!!

I just got done making a video of movies to watch for this halloween.

I'll post that as a video response.

    Have a awesome halloween dude.

  • @boxcarman123 Thank you very much. I'll keep an eye out for your vid.

  • Great picks! Have a great Halloween dude!

  • @MrMovieNight Thank you, and same to you!

  • Definitely watch The Howling it's a classic werewolf movie, i've watched it countless times!! Feast 2 & 3 are pretty nice & fun films, where all kinds of bodily fluids fly all over the place!! Have a great horror movie marathon & Happy Halloween =)

  • @rondontori13 I'm really starting to look forward to The Howling with all of these comments here. Thanks man, you have a Happy Halloween yourself!

  • Ed Gein with Steve Railsback is amazing, he blew me away with his portrayal...a real Mama's boy Ed was.

I love the Howling, nice pick. Watch the extras when done.

Halloween 4 is by far my fave sequel.

The Hills Have Eyes part 2 ( 1985 ) is such a fun film to watch, Pluto rocks. I am one of those anti remake people.

I watch Phantasm, Halloween, a Romero film, Vincent Price films, Black Christmas...I spruce it up every yr for fun with the movie picks.

  • @Dayofthedead1976 Will do on The Howling. Seems to be a common refrain on here that The Howling is one of the best out of the bunch. I love Halloween 4! It has the perfect atmosphere to it. Honestly, it's the first one I reach for, after the original, when i'm in the mood for a Halloween movie. Yeah, this is the first year that I haven't planned out my movies to watch. This stack just sort of grew into my Halloween stack. Phantasm I watched earlier in the month. What insanity, lol.

  • @cackalackymovies The reason I don't stick to a schedule with my marathon...the mood changes yr to yr.

I do have the Carpenter set, just a slimmer case, better storage....I loved the score for Village of the Damned.

The classic Halloween has to be the shit, I consider part two an extension and not a sequel. Part 4....I love Rachel, she's such an awesome character.

You will love The Howling. There is a morphing scene you'll get a kick out of.

Phantasm is my fave horror series.

  • You are in for a surprise with Feast II! I guarantee it is not going to be what you are thinking. I love it though. Enjoy!

  • @movieOVERLORD Ah...I'm intrigued! Thanks!!

  • I plan to watch all the Halloween films and just a lot of random horror films including Trick r Treat.

  • @Rhine1988 That's a festive lineup. I love Trick r Treat as well.

  • Awesome picks Krazy Jason!!

They Live and Prince of Darkness are great films. Prince of Darkness used to creep me out.

Halloween: The Extended Version is awesome.

I really enjoy Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. It gets mixed reviews, but I love it. Halloween H20 is great!!

What?? The Howling is a classic and one of my favourite werwolf films.

The Hills Have Eyes 2 is pretty good. The Blair Witch Project is awesome!

  • @Rhine1988 Thanks for your thoughts on my picks! Re: The Howling. I know, I know. I should have my nad satchel bashed with bricks.

  • they live is some cheesy fun, the kick some ass bubble gum line is from dat

feast 2....the old original is better is true for that series

the features on that version on the howling are awesome

looks like they perfect day right there

  • @DVDSNutz Thanks for letting me know what you think about Feast 2 and They Live. And kudos for the heads up on The Howling features!
