Mary Martin's greatness goes beyond her incredible voice. You feel her inner and beautiful soul, as she expresses it through song. I never saw her on Broadway, but I did see her perform "My Heart Belongs To Daddy" when she performed it at the Hollywood Bowl (or perhaps it was the Greek Theater". Ms. Martin needed no sets, no fancy scenery. She was a gift to us mere mortals.

Thanks for posting this clip in June. I had been trying to find a Mary Martin version
of this musical number before I happended to find this today. Mary Martin--along with Ethel Merman--is a legendary actress. Her voice sounds comforting; Ethel's is
really dynamic. Nothing can top the original and this is no exception.
