Honestly this is an awesome tank I love the clown knife and the cat fish are amazing looking also the pangasius catfish looked very cool and a great choice for a red tail cat it can't eat anything in their :)
@theprankster5000 That is a young giraffe cat for Africa. They are very interactive, and somewhat aggressive fish. He tries to dominate the others, but their given their size, they all hold their own well. Its a balancing act with fish like this. A lot of effort goes into monitoring their behavior and health to make sure they aren't stressed, bullied, under eating, etc. We care very much about each of these fish.
@m497524 The black ones are "Oxydoras niger" catfish from South America. They are not related to Sturgeons. Fantastic fish, but these guys get to 4 feet long and are absolutely massive. They are also quite active, but do not bend and turn easily. These guys are around 30"+at 3 years old and this tank is getting tight. We are looking forward to when we get their above ground pond ready for them.
hi i recently bought a 200 gallon tank and my water has a white-ish color like yours, i dont know if its my faucet water or what but how do you clear up your water?
@NH4NO3CH3NO2 The sand was still settling at this time. We had waited more than a week with heavy filtration to get everything out of the water that we could. However, these fish happily dug up the sand and stirred everything up again. After a month or so, we no longer had any fine debris getting kicked up as the cats sifted through the sand.
have u had oscars before?? or bettas (crappy question cause u prob stick to the bigger fish, i love the bigger ones they are the ones u prob have to be less careful with)
@amfruhling We have had betta, discus, tiny catfish, loaches, eels, etc. The sizes we keep range from 1.5" - 30"+ You have to be careful with all of them, all for different reasons. These big guys can polute a tank with one feeding if not properly understood and monitored.
@iCantTinkOfaGudName Since these guys are all extremely (almost obnoxiously) friendly with us, quite peaceful with each other, and healthy, there is no pressing need to give them hiding spots. I monitor their behavior VERY closely to make sure there are no symptoms of stress. Unless I can set up more caves than fish, I'm are better off eliminating territory. If I were to introduce 4 caves, fish would start claiming territory and aggression would occur. I'll get to it when they're in the pond.
@SoCalDiscus You should put some drift wood or something in there for looks its kinda plain with nothin in there.. drift wood wouldnt cause territory problems
@jarederajarederaj With this crowd, any caves would be a problem. We have added driftwood so that its decorated, but eliminated specific hiding space. It seemed to have worked well, but took some careful planning on the pieces we used and where we placed them.
@killerdude1908 The 600 gallon is just another grow out tank. This should last them about another year, and then they will all need to be moved to a couple thousand gallon indoor pond we will start building shortly.
@nicofish1000 They grow very rapidly. They were a little less than 14 months old here. The 180 was a grow out tank. They went from being quite comfortable to squished in a matter of about 2.5 months while we got this purchased and set up. Their growth rate is jaw droppingly rapid.
