First off the wages people earn with their hands are not the governments but belong to the person who "worked for them". Its their money not yours or the governments. To be clear the top 1% of income earners in this country pay 40% of the revenue collected by the Treasury. The bottom 50% income earners pay 1%.

What you need to know is that in order for the government to give money to someone it must first take it from someone else.
