uhh, people. 1) This song came out before the untimely death of Princess Di. I once saw her a)sitting at the center of a circle surrounded by little black children begging for scraps, b) swaying to Paul playing a command performance while her stodgy husband sat there thinking "sit down, woman, you're making a fool of yourself", c) read that one possible reason she dies was because of something she overheard Charles saying on the phone line, d) she died underground fleeing paparazzi.
Yeah, he said himself he was pumped up from having just done The Beatles anthology. I think that had a tremendous influence on this album. It was very direct, straightforward, raw rock and roll songs. Flaming Pie is one of Macca's best. Quick side note- Jeff Lynne is my favorite producer anyway, and his work with any artist really makes them glow, especially a Beatle. Plus, nobody can get a snare sound like that guy!!!
Thanks k323r I did love it. Another great song and video by Sir Paul.
thecatskin...I believe he is referring to the paparazzi. They are always bothering famous people...and I believe they just want to be left alone...that is why I said "keeping" instead of "giving" when I referenced this song. Some just do not want to play the game anymore.
Great to see this video posted. Would like to see the other version too, where t.v sets are falling from the sky while the band is playing and ringo is on drums.

It's giving the game away, not keeping. What does "keeping the game away" mean, anyway? Doesn't make sense =)
