  • The interviewer hates Eminem because Em can immitate his voice LMAO!!!

  • rakim is better than eminem so is pac

  • intvervewrs is a dick

  • I don't like this interviewer he sounds like a typical arrogant frenchman.

  • this is inspiring

  • This interviewer is a complete idiot. He can barely speak english yet he has such strong opinions on english language rap.

  • Rakim has mad self-control to not start swinging on this dumbass nigga

  • @ThePrhymeElement I would have... No patients lol

  • Rakim has too much brain in his head to get tricked into giving this dick-ish interviewer any ammunition to perpetuate idiotic bullshit.

  • Well put, Ra. This was a great interview. I don't mean the interviewer, but Rakim's thoughts were great. Nice insight.

  • This interviewer shut the fuck up already.

  • i don't think this interviewer is aware of who rakim is!!

  • THIS INTERVIEWER IS A FUCKING FAGGOT

  • wish em and rakim made songs together

  • This interviewer is a complete jackass. He's free to feel however he feels about Eminem but dude, you're the interviewer--not the interviewee. You're opinion doesn't matter. Rakim isn't interviewing you; you're interviewing him. You're supposed to be totally non-biased and only ask him questions. Not to mention, he's being totally disrespectful to one of the greatest to ever pick up a mic by interrupting him and trying to dismiss what he's saying.

  • It's not 'clownin' to simply clown, there's a very serious point being made with the Shady persona. This fucking guy mentions Geto Boys. What he thought 'Mind Playing Tricks on Me' wasn't cartoonish and fun? "This year Halloween fell on the weekend, Me and the Geto Boys were trick or treatin, robbin lil kids for bags..." Shits funny.God who put this guy in the position to interview a legend like Rakim? Hey french dude, lay off Shady. Or as Rakim might say, don't sweat the technique.

  • Rakim is a fucking legend. Brilliant dude. This guy doesn't even realize that Em's 'clown' side alter ego is actually brilliant art. It allows him to say shit that's far out and push the boundaries just to exercise his 1st Amendment rights.

  • The interviewer is a fucking idiot. Kill yourself. You know nothing about hiphop. Fucking French.

  • rakim actualy knows whats hes talking about unless like the inerviewer and the d12 cd had some nasty songs on it like american psycho

  • THIS INTERVIEWER HASN'T GOT A CLUE EMINEM IS THE BEST EVER LYRICALLY

  • Let me get this righ..Rakim likes and respects Eminem, but the interviewer doesen`t like him anymore ?

    heheh..coulden`t understand..

  • paid in full best tape ever

  • rakim nation fuckin cracker haters

  • I used to think Rakim's style was garbage when I first heard him.

  • Who better than EM? BIG, Pun, Big L, NAS, the god in this video Rakim, NOT MANY rappers in history are as good or better than Eminem.

  • The fuck is the french for?

  • what the hell dude. I hate that asshole interviewer.

  • The interviewer just sounds like he's trying to get props from the GOD by proving he got knowledge of hip hop.

  • what the fuck is wrong with the guy thats interviewing him?

  • doesn't show but you know the interviewer at the end said "thank you, please come again"

  • interviewers lucky rakim didnt have a gun...

  • @tylermrogers

he doesn't need a gun, he just lets the rhythm hit 'em.

  • This bonehead gets a chance to interview The KING of MC's and all he wants to ask is questions about eminem... em is dope but cmon... Props to Rakim for being patient and humble...

  • This dude needs to stop interrupting Rakim... Ask the question and let him talk..

  • @MrScottyOE NEVER GIVE UP SAYS JAVON HUNT ON YOUTUBE

  • peace to Rakim he is still the king...notice how Rakim tried to stay positive...i got respect for that brother

  • Y'all are idiots, this interviewer is aight....basically it's 2 guys having a conversation, trading ideas and shit...you can't handle that? Thank God Rakim doesn't act like he is some sort of superior being and just talks to the guy like, you know, 2 humans having a discussion on some shit they're interested in.

  • I love how the interviewer tries to school Rakim. Like Rakim isn't aware of how rap works.

  • Rakim is awesome.

    This interviewer was a douche.

  • @DEvilRec0rds NEVER GIVE UP SAYS JAVON HUNT ON YOUTUBE

  • I wish I talked like Rakim. lol.

  • dont interrupt rakim you whore

  • @sasuke315 for me to interrupt rakim would be the stupidest thing in life.. dude rakim is scary in my opinion lol

  • its hard to stay focus man..

  • Rakim is the coolest, most impeccable brother to ever bless a mic - he's a damn legend! This interviewer talks over Rakim, he's more interested in who is "the clown in Hip-Hop" and being a fucking clown himself, that he's missed what could have been a legendary interview. I feel sorry for Ra having to tolerate this. Rakim is one of Em's favorite MC's, so this is a waste of the God's time..and ours.

  • @MrJazzHOP NEVER GIVE UP SAYS JAVON HUNT ON YOUTUBE

  • scarface kills eminem. haahahahahaa ... thats a wishful thinking u betta check urself man ... listen to rakim, not alot of artist got his experience n knowledge!

  • these foreign mofos views and oppinions on hip hop are comical...............they're kind of dick riders and stans

  • I really do not like this interviewer.

  • Why is the interviewer giving his bullshit opinion for I came to hear Rakim speak not that dumbass

  • Scarface better than Shady??? GTFO bro! WTF is this dude giving the interview? STFU

  • If Eminem was black- Nobody would have given him a chance because honestly him being a nasty WHITE rapper brought the limelight on him

  • Comment removed

  • Is this inteviewer fucking retarded!?! Scarface kills him Trillion time? KRS kills him? Nas kills him? Eminem blows those MC's 4 miles of the mic. The fact that he is white didn't help him at all. Maybe record sales but the amount of respect he has from other rappers can only be gotten by his superior skills. End of story.

  • @CobainLennon8094 Not KRS and Nas

  • @CobainLennon8094 WHAAAAAAAAAT Lmfao did you just say Eminem is better then Nas?... Nas is a G.O.A.T one of the greatest, not saying Eminem isn't good but that's crazy Eminem is good but NOT better then Nas

  • I wish this idiot would let Rakim speak

  • Rakim The Greatest of All Time!!!!!!!!!

  • what can you expect from a faggot frenchman

  • The interviewer is a clueless retardo.

  • Man this interviewer is kinda fuckin' goofy, talkin' down on Em like that. Now for Rakim, one of the all time greats and one of my all time fav rappers to give eminem his props, tells you he thinks that cat is the real deal. And Scarface, just like Ra, Nas & Em is one of my all time faves as well. I'll agree with the interviewer that Face and Nas is the shit, i just think Face is very underrated in my opinion, anyone who has truly litened to his music thoughout the years, knows that cat is deep.

  • How dare that twat of a french twat not respect Rs opinion, everyone has one but R's should notbeen questioned. Fucking piss me off that this guy tries to press R's opinion to another side

  • I WANT TO SMASH THIS SMUG FOREIGN INTERVIEWER IN THE FUCKING FACE. SHOW RESPECT IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD.

  • This interviewer is an idiot. You can like any rapper better than eminem thats fine it's your view BUT you have to admit eminem is the best rapper to ever live. You may not like him but look at what he has done. The guy said all these rappers would "kill" eminem. Clearly he doesnt know what he is talking about i feel as tho he is racist but thats another topic. Eminem is an amazing battler, freestyler and can rape any genre of rap he makes everything a hit! His rhymes are SO clever its insane!

  • @B9King937 What a fucking retarded comment.

  • @WaqarK96 coming from a guy who knows nothing about hip hop.

  • @B9King937 Oh don't i? On what basis can you make such a ridicilous claim?

  • @WaqarK96 For not agreeing with a real hip hop fact.

  • @B9King937 You're an obvious troll..

  • @WaqarK96 How is that? You said "What a fucking retarded comment" and you call me the troll? You are dumb as fuck

  • @WaqarK96 shut up stupid

  • @erikgrob: true words, but we must be careful about using the expression "taking it to another level" in this regard. Eminem's style was certainly lifted from brothers like Masta Ace and improved upon in terms of erudition and impeccable word-play. And yes, style-wise Rakim is very different, but in his own way, Rakim could follow Shady quite comfortably. The difference, as you say, is in the style and content. Personally, Rakim has an incompoarable flow, but both are masters at their craft.

  • new eminem song? Cause eventually he's gonna hear about this, and he's gonna go ballistic.

  • Thanks for posting this. Rakim is the greastest MC ever for HIS type of stye. Shady takes it to another level with his own style. "Follow the Leader" was written for a reason. Rakim is more like Chuck-D or KRS-1 in a way. To watch Rakim talk about Shady is just something I thought I'd never see. But now, why do you think Eminem goes last in a Cypher or anything. Radio 1 with Mr. Porter, Royce, and EM..these are his buddies, a STILL no body in their right mind would want to follow Shady.

  • This interviewer is a disrespectful punk.

  • From eminems own mouth "If i was black white i would have sold half , ididn't have to graduate to figure out that" . NUFF SAID

  • @fludklat And em has also said ' the same rappers get called the best Jay z and Kanye west, where do i fit in with that, maybe its because i aint black.'

  • @fludklat *"if i was black i would have sold half, i didnt have to graduate from lincon high school to know that"

  • If Em was black they'd call him Childish Gambino.

  • Is Rakim the coolest, most chilled brother or what?!!! And quite seriously, no other MC can bless the mic like Ra. Waste of an interview with God.

  • Dude if I knew who dis motherfuckin' interviewer was, I'd beat tha fuck outta him fo being disrespectful to tha G.O.A.T. of Hip-Hop

  • eminem is amazing but when it comes to a guy like ice cube in his prime em could have some trouble. and im a white guy admitting this. just because im a white guy dosent mean i dont know my shit and trust me im pretty sure i can have alot of old school fans go oh shit whitey knows his shit

  • @TheGame2407 em made it to the finals of the rap olympics before any dre shit and ppl forget that quit acting like em cant diss the fuck out of anyone he proves he can diss the top rappers at what ever time and even pop icons just for the fuck of it

  • @TheGame2407 Ice cube in his prime? Ice cube was never a battle mc, you noob...

  • @TheGame2407 Right on bro!

  • @TheGame2407 Ice Cube? Na if he battled Pun L ect then he would have been in trouble but Common murdered him IMO

  • This interviewer is a joke. How is this cat gonna compare scareface 2 eminem ???? Watta clown!!!

  • Eminem studied Rakim. That man was a hostage on Aftermath. All those years and no album? I don't even recall a leaked song.

  • rakim looking smoother than my fucking jumper

  • Rakim playing the house nigga role...fuck eminem....you dont feel scarface but you feel this cracker!!! Scarface got lyricist of the yaer at the mf source awards!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • To have one of the greatest rappers of all time do a 7 minute interview about you, you know your doing something right.

  • Being white mean he couldn't rap about the same stuff like other rappers about black ghettos and struggles. He had to form a unique style which he did plus getting so much respect from other great rappers like rakim is why he is one of the best

  • @EmThaBestMC

But more importantly M&M doesn't think he's the G.O.A.T, matter of fact he'll tell you he's not even close!!!!

  • he was right, Scarface does kill marshall!

  • @82BlackPower How thats so when scarface is to scared to do a song with eminem.

  • @zeropluszeroiszero Scarface is not doin songs PERIOD. he said he's retired

  • eminem is a sellout bitch

that sums up the whole video

  • @ispitthetruth Sellout bitch? You know that nobody lives without money and absoulutely nobody raps for free right? You know he needs to bring up four kids/teenagers (three are not even blood sons) right? You know that food is not for free right? And you know most of the best universities are paid right? And you know kids and teenagers want gifts, mostly expensive gifts right? You know he will die and leave sons right? You know his career can end anyday and he'll need money after that right?

  • @TheStillman37 Biggie,2pac,Nas never sold out Em did

  • @TheGameBWS09 they all sold out in their own ways, but u are right that eminem sold out big time. biggie, got caught up way too much in the money and fear and would probably sell himself for it, 2Pac sold himself when he signed deathrow and made all eyez on me, but reclaimed himself when he made the don killuminati, and nas in a way because he started collabing with jay-z when he should of stayed away. but im just saying man not saying u are wrong in anyway

  • @Fuckdisworld93 NEVER GIVE UP SAYS JAVON HUNT ON YOUTUBE

  • There were several black eminems in the 90s. Who are they? exactly. If eminem was black nobody would be givin a fuck about how may syllables he put together or flipped around.

  • maybe rakim wont git famus by this interviewer

  • Em didnt work hard, fucker tried to play off of icp back in the day ( and no im not a juggalo) and then was randomly discovered over night by dre. if he was black you wouldnt know him.

  • @mystusn Em didnt work hard?? He pretty much slaugther the detriot underground scene back in the day and was invited to the rap olympics in l.a where he got runner up. Ems cd was given to an ar person then landed in the hands of Jimmy irvine then straight into dres hands. Being white had to work harder then any other mcs at the time. Damn at least no some history before you make comments.

  • What makes a great mc? the ability to freestyle with much swag, metaphors, and hard punchlines .....Eminem's actual UNWRITTEN freestyles are wack azz Fu"k.... check him out on all the rap city clips ....his written rhymes are decent....and that shit from 8 mile was definetely written....Rakim stop holding the whiteboys nuts!! .

  • @SirMelanin You're crazy if you think Eminem can't freestyle.

He came up in the game through freestyle battles in the slums of Detroit.

  • Hey interviewer, you have Rakim in the room with you... shut up and let him speak.

  • @82BlackPower: Absolutely, brah! Couldn't have put it better myself! Ho-Tep.

  • interviewer needs to stfu !

  • Rakim should just say what he's REALLY thinking, yeah the white boy is alright, but he aint got shit on me!

  • Interviewer needs to learn respect.

  • @dtfpizza Yeah, he should let the expert talk and shut up

  • @dtfpizza

The interviewer had more common sense than Rakim did doing this interview for sure!!!

  • @dtfpizza Yeah I agree. A good couple of times the interviewer spoke out of line and cut off Rakim before he could finish (and how's he going to compare Em to Scarface??). But right around 4:26 he's got some pretty strong and insightful points. For all his crap in this interview, props to him for being so observant.

  • @shahidinia Sorry I meant 4:00

  • Dude on the mic need to shut up. Let Rakim speak

  • @split876

    PT.2

Blues music, rooted in the work songs and spirituals of slavery and influenced greatly by West African musical traditions, was first played by blacks, and later by some whites, in the Mississippi Delta region of the United States around the time of the Emancipation Proclamation. Grammy-winning blues musician/historian Elijah Wald and others have argued that the blues were being rapped as early as the 1920s.

  • PT.3

Wald went so far as to call hip hop "the living blues." Jazz, which developed from the blues & other African-American & European musical traditions & originated around the beginning of the 20th century, has also influenced hip hop & has been cited as a precursor of hip hop. Not just jazz music & lyrics but also Jazz poetry. According to John Sobol, the jazz musician & poet who wrote Digitopia Blues, rap "bears a striking resemblance to the evolution of jazz both stylistically & formally.

  • dude the freakin greeks had orators and oral poetry THAT RHYMED CENTURIES ago . . COME OFF IT YOU ARE SO LAME.

  • @split876

Actually the first true use of rhymes was made by the ancient Western Africans who kept track of their history by using story-teller or griots. They kept the names of all the tribal members of their tribe. They used rhymes as a method of remembering all of the names.

  • @young1s4u4 Yes! We can see "rapping" in some form or another throughout the African Diaspora, often in a freestyle format. I've seen it in Brazil (embolada), where it's been a tradition among blacks for centuries. And in Jamaica, they were rapping over dub records in the 60's, and that was the spark for modern rap when DJ Kook Herc took that tradition to NYC and did it with funk breaks instead of reggae dubs.

  • @ericjungleboy

Word, indeed even as far back as ancient West African culture is concerned "griots" used a form of Rap to remember the names of tribal members and their entire family's lineage trees!!

  • 50 tyson xD

  • Look! It's The God MC, and he's decked out in safari apparel - man, this brother is so damn smooth and laid back: if you get the chance to chat with him, he'll actually give you tons of his time, he's renowned for it. But finding Rakim after a show is damn near impossible, he's a low-key dude. I have spoken with him four times now - proper conversations - and this interview here is painful to watch because this Eminem "clown" theme is killing the vibe. Sad, really, 'cause Rakim is pure Gold..

  • Comment removed

  • i love this interview yoo i wish there were more interviews like this

  • eminem has nothing on rakim.

  • This mother fucking interviewer can barely speak English, and all you bastards are going to agree with this bull shit? Fuck that shit. Eminem obviously is the only rapper around now adays that doesn't rap about money and hoes.

  • @Jakegroover25

Oh, really dumbass? Then how about "Syllables" it has both "money and 'hoes" on this "M" track! You don't even know WTF you are talking about, Ha, ha, ha!!!!

  • @Jakegroover25

the only rapper around? no faggot, the only rapper you may of heard of cuz you rely on the mainstream. dont speak when you dont have knowledge please. eminem raps about not materialism, however, he also raps about a lot of stupid shit too and antagonizes people for no other reason to become controversial and then whine about it later

  • em is a monsta tho.....

  • Eminem's Rhymes are Corny ass Hell!!!!!...and Rakim needs to stop being a house nigga..he raps better than Eminem...Az is better than Eminem....RiP 2 pac was better than this overated white MC.....Even the white man who's interviewing him knows the truth.

  • @SirMelanin

    And they know it's true!!!!

  • If Eminem was black, he wouldn't be as good, because being white made him have to work twice as hard to prove himself in a black Detroit scene. In most industries in America, you'd have to work harder to prove yourself if you were black, but in hip hop, it's the opposite. Eminem's eminence is due in significant part to that fact.

  • @ericjungleboy

Yeah, but don't forget about all of the BLACK influence that goes into making a white lyricist such as "M" you think that the people he's most associated with aren't black? What about ya boy 'Ice? He lied and tried to say that he grow up in da 'hood...it's obvious that those who really know; know that Rap is a black cultural expression. Nothing wrong with whites tipping in, but it's white society that have proclaimed him the most influential RAP ARTIST..BULLSHIT!!

  • @young1s4u4 You're missing my point. I'm not saying anything to take away from what black people have done to establish and develop the art form of rap. My point is simply that eminem, as a white kid, had to work harder to be accepted than he would have if he'd been black. Vanilla Ice has nothing to with it. I don't think Vanilla came up the way Eminem did in a black neighborhood competing in black cyphers. And he's not my boy neither.

  • @ericjungleboy

I absolutely agree with you 100%. My sons grew up with M in the "D" & they tell me all of the time about what he went thru I'm sure his upbringing in a tough urban setting had a lot to do with his skillz, no doubt. However, even with all of that M can only go so far into an art that screams from the very soul of the black experience in America. I don't begrudge him his success just the part of the media hype proclaiming him the most WHATEVER that's going too far!

  • @ericjungleboy

I'll agree also with the part of your post if it pertains to black people; then yes he had to have his "A" game going. BUT, BUT that's not true of the white media, they have proclaimed him the most influential rapper today. Something they have no right to do!

When people cross over this shit takes place. Folks who don't have a clue TELL you who's who. His whiteness was all he needed for them. They don't know who's good or bad, he's their great white hope!

  • @ericjungleboy

Nothing pisses me off more than anyone saying that he's better than the established icons of rap...that's where I draw the line, plain and simple! Some people forget or have never heard of the phase: "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" perhaps they need to understand what it means; in this instance anyway! I respect you, you've been well spoken from your post and articulate. I don't want to see a piece of our culture diluted again, without regard!

  • @ericjungleboy you dumb fuck. his specific mental capacity allows him to create such great lyrics. great minds are not specific to anything other than the existence of a brain. if he were black, he would still be fucking dope, but with a different perspective. if einstein was a fucking thick-mustached gay mexican, he still would have been a fucking genius. there are plenty of white artists that failed and sucked. your enthusiasm protects your ignorance and naivete. no disrespect, but expand.

  • @courtesyclerk You say "No disrespect" but you also call me a "dumb fuck"? And then you tell me to "expand". Look, you've gotta learn to think before you talk. You obviously didn't think much about what I was saying before you spouted off with your knee-jerk reaction. Nothing I said contradicted the point you made. I'm not denying that Eminem is a brilliant talent already. But growing up white in a black neighborhood pushed him to try harder too. He himself would admit as much.

  • @ericjungleboy that last point is bullshit. "being white in a black neighborhood made him work harder". harder than what? harder than if he had been black in a black neighborhood? so tupac had his shit come easy to him? big l had it easier? you really are a dumb fuck. you should expand because you are naive and ignorant. you have no evidence for your claim. likewise, a claim that "being white made him work less" has the same evidence presented: none.

  • @courtesyclerk Harder than he would have worked otherwise. He felt like he had to prove himself more because he was white. Everything you said about my comment is your own ideas. I didn't say any of those things, nor think them. I never said anything about Tupac having it easy. That's all your own thinking.

  • who the fuck is the french guy anyway? you are talking to a living legend like Rakim who's givin props to a huge talent like Eminem and all you do is talk back? dude you don't know shit about hip hop

  • This nigga wasn't feel'n Gheto Boyz or Face til he made Smile. You lost me there! Face was and is great. Scarface became a great rapper, REALLY. The world is your wasn't raw Rakim? The Diary wasn't Raw Rakim. Your a funny nigga! After he said that i didn"t care about anything or anyone one else he spoke on. I know thats your opinion but I wonder how many people believe that shit. I will be surprised, DAMN!!!!

  • @20bking You know NY rappers dont respect the South

  • if you don't like eminem it doesn't make rakim wrong. truth is eminem has serious talent, whether you think he's sold out now or not, it doesn't take that away. never understand the hate amongst hip hop fans. at the end of the day it's music. not politics.

  • @bournebeats

It's not about liking him as a person of color but it is saying who he's better than. How dare any young so-called black person say he's the best! WTF do they know about shit? As the innovators of this art which came out of our struggle we created rap. Therefore no one else can tell us how we should be doing it and trying to not only imitate but now declare they are the best, it ain't happening. Too many young blacks have no real connection to their own damn history.

  • @young1s4u4 ask nas, rakim, jay-z etc etc. they'll all tell you that all that matters is whether you can rap or not. dwelling on colour will never make it go away. no one's going to forget where rap came from. it's in the history books. rap was founded by black people but that doesn't mean white people shouldn't can't do it and be respected for it and besides music is subjective. if someone thinks em is the best. good for them. if u cld ask em himself, he wldnt say he's the best.

  • @bournebeats

What I'm saying to you is this: NONE of them have the right to say whose fit to rap & give props one way or the other they only inherited rap. As I stated this has got a lot to do with the way young people think today & in realty it will be a reason why this country will suffer greatly. No longer heeding the advice of it's elders, lovers of themselves. Peeps are walking into their destinies. I'm just a crier in the wilderness. Years ago it was called selling out.

  • @bournebeats

I don't want to miss my main point of this blog. What I'm saying is that young folks don't hold much of their culture sacred it's do whatever makes YOU feel good! It ain't about your peeps it's all about you. So it's easy to accept things without giving it a second thought. M is a good rapper but he will never, ever be the best in this game 'cause rap is something that comes from the SOUL of the BLACK experience. I've no beef with his success but it has it's limits.

  • @young1s4u4 i get what you're saying but i disagree. hip hop the music (not necessarily the culture that comes with it) is one of the major styles now (along with rock, jazz, pop etc). think how many respected white rappers there rally are. em and beastie boys. maybe one or two others. i hardly see that as taking over and people forgetting where it came from. there are just as many ppl that hate em as those that think he's gd so don't worry about it.

  • @bournebeats

You really don't get it, honestly & it's not your fault! The problem is (you have a culture too, at least one) understanding the need to hold on to the correct values less you give them all away out of indifference. As I told you "M" is a good rapper his lyrical style is unique but, but rap is ours period. What it truly means is far deeper than today's artist even understand because they don't know who they are. Times are different when my race cared about each other.
