Until technology can come up with music that gives the emotional feelings of artists who can play real instruments, sing with real voices, and put on a show that makes ones emotions come alive... Well, I can't see that happening any time soon. Please, some one let our educational system know that music and physical education in schools is not a luxury but an intrical part of our lives. We need both just as it has been for over hundreds of years, music is a cultural thing, not a luxury.
From all of the comments on this and many other TOP videos, so many fans of real music. TOP is the bomb and who else could title a song "Mr Toads Wild Ride? Musicians playing music. With instruments no less, unlike alot of todays artists.
They were and still are incomparable.....and since music changes with time....they will never be surpassed for the type music they created..Like today...there is no real good shit around.....its the music created by their artistry and ability...from deep within....and cannot ever be again...when they are gone. .....and for the 40 years they have entertained........They have been....THE Best!!!!
Honestly, to me this will always be the "perfect" T.O.P. lineup - with any of their several great saxes in the early 90s, Steve Grove, Brandon Fields, David Mann. This particular group was sick tight!!!
The guy on guitar looks like Eddie Van Halen.... If you love this Tower of Power song, try listening to Lenny Pickett & the Borneo Horns sometime.... IF YOU CAN FIND THAT ALBUM!
This is an awesome line-up. They were in Fresno at the Big Fresno Fair. Brandon Fields is a saxophone monster. Also saw Brandon Fields several times when he was with the Rippingtons. TOP will be back in Fresno, October, 2008 at the Fair. Can't wait to see them.
Tower is the baddest band in the land! Been seeing these guys since '68. I saw this band with Brandon Fields on in San Mateo California. Brandon was reading charts on stage and had only performed with the band twice before. He freakin' burned the solos. Wish they would have cut him loose of Knock Yourself Out, but they play Mr. Toad. Haven't seen them play this charts since.
Lenny is the fonk master! Brandon can play that straight ahead and fusion stuff. Can't compare 'em they both kill
@SAXYRIC359 You probably already know the answer, but just in case, that's Brandon Fields (The Rippingtons, etc.). And yeah I agree, he's really good. Since they're from the East Bay Area, they roll through Fresno pretty regularly and I had a chance to catch them at the Big Fresno Fair just a bit after Brandon Fields had joined them. I was really knocked out and got a kick out of seeing Fields with them since I'm a Russ Freeman and the Rippingtons fan as well.
MR TOAD HAD A LOVELY RIDE IN HIS NEW MOTORCAR

The only thing that would have made this better, is Garibaldi on drums. Not knocking on Russ at all, but Garibaldi + Rocco = brilliance.
