this was kind of a mix of 'Chocolat' and 'Like Water for Chocolate' but with Chillies instead. The writing for McDermot's character was dreadful, but a cute enough movie if you're into magical surrealism.

I've been reading some of the comments...and I have to say, regarding those who say it's the "strangest movie", "nonsense", etc. etc....How on earth can you be so narrow-headed, how can you not get the beauty and poetry of it? Okay. Good, enjoyable film. A little heavy on the music at times, and the constant talking to the spices got a little old toward the end. As expected, Aishwarya is absolutely beautiful, well worth the wierdness to watch her for a while.

This reminds of the book "Agua para chocolate" by Laura esquivel and this genre is called Magic Realism.

Emphasis on the "magic" part...

I liked the movie, incredibly much, but I didn't like the ending. I don't know how they ought to have ended it, but it felt rushed and the happy end didn't really fit just like that. I wish we saw more of how Doug investigated Tilo's background etc. ...

Plus I don't think that the native American background fits him that much to eb honest.

no it wasn't a bad movie, i felt so moved and touched and fullfilled! it was about love and lust and wanting a special person who you long to be with. that one person that seems so unattainable but yet so close and real. this story reminds me of the spanish movie, like water for chocolate and the girl was using food that had powers of love.....and dylan and ash made a great couple. this film gives me hope, that the right guy will come along...
