Yes, there were some real life cops giving advice, like one guy talking about guns. And I think it was a good idea to have crooks giving good advice, too, because they'd know how we can protect ourselves from people like them.

Weren't there some COPS for Kids PSA's that featured real life police officers? I remember one that showed a policewoman explaining about how important getting a license plate number (even just part of it) can be useful in apprehending a suspect.

Yes, there were. Hopefully when Shout Factory release the rest of the series, they will have such PSAs as well as the animated ones.
