  • how does one defend against them?

  • Cluster bombs are awesome they blow shit up, look cool, and create mine fields after dropped lol go America

  • nice volume ass

  • it's crime....

  • I love that sound

  • @Dogapsa tell that to those suicide bombers

    your theory doesnt make up

    cluster bombs only anger people

some one desperad enough would kill him self to safe others

  • @klote2314 except that these are designed to destroy tanks and other armored vehicles and leave no unexploded ordnance like previous cluster bombs. There's no reason this would anger anyone any more than a normal bomb.

  • effective in killing innocent children with duds!

cluster bombs should be seen as nuclear bombs they are fucking unreliable

    they are like mines

  • "These will help keep the peace"??? WHere do you get your intelect from? Making tools of death and destruction, the ones that murder civilians most of times, is "keeping peace" for you! USA never received a single ordnance on its territory, so you have no perception of the suffering and opression you cause! Nevertheless, freedom and people will always win! They had throughout history, and they will in the future! You see murder of 250,000 Iraqy children as keepinng peace! You are evil!

  • @tropickman u frogot 9/11 that was some huge assed ordinance

  • this is perverse! how much think/workpower was wasted to invent/build weapon?! to every enginner how read this, please boycott inventing such things! mankind has allready enough problems! do something usefull that helps people and don´t distroy things! please!

  • Actually, EFP warheads are one of the more recent developments. While modern armor is good, most all AFVs are much thinner along their decks. And while the most current reactive armors can provide SOME defense (but less then they can vrs. a shaped charge), and heavy reactive like Kontact-5 more (though I'd like to see some demonstrations still), it's still not a 100% sure defense. A tandem-charge submunition can be problematic. It has to actually contact the target, whereas EFP is actually fired

  • Unless of course you using Chobham and DU then your golden.

  • @Weps21 Certainly that does help. But not sure if (as an example) even the M1 has gone with DU in the deck armor. It dould very well only be in the front and flanks as a weight saving measure. Major point with munitions like the CBU-97 is that they will attack one of their weaker armor facings of the majority of the AFVs out now (and in the foreseeable future).

  • kinda sucks that I cant see much of what's happening at the bottom of the pic...

  • @AlleluiaPTLord and that's why people are trying to devealope bombs like the Sensor Fused Weapon, much more selective and with fail safes to prevent deaths from unexploded ordinance

  • Perfect for non-selective civilian-militia devastation!

Seriously, I can appreciate this for what it is - the pinnacle of years of research - but I cry when I see those who control them.

  • It's really not that effective on infantry. This weapon is meant to destroy a full battalion of tanks. The submunitions are Explosively Formed Penetrator (EFP) skeets. 40 are thrown out. As they wobble, a sensor looks below and when it detects something that matches a vehicle's profile it fires the penetrator into the roof. Still, sucks to be dismounts caught in that.

  • yea

  • is BLU-108 and CBU-97 the same?

  • Yes, the BLU-108 is the four unit submunition dispenser with four Skeet sensor-fuzed warheads attached. The CBU-97 is the SUU-64/B Tactical Munitions Dispenser plus 10 BLU-108s.
