I've beaten a few G35 Coupes in my 02 6spd Maxima....but then again I got every mod that you can have on my Maxima....even kept up with a 2010 STI with CAI, exhaust and a tune...G35 is a great car too. I like the VQ engines.

The 2002-2003 6 Speed maximas are beasts, they could probably take a 2003-2004 G35 (i was surprised when you lost......) but in 05 with the power bump i dont think they would have a chance anymore.. Still, The 03 Maxima. I35 is my favorite body style and if i had to choose a 03 g35 over a 6spd 03 max i would probably pick the max depending on if the G was auto, sedan or coupe.

lol the g was modded, as i stated in the description. he got the jump by a hair, and all i had was an intake.

i can take coupes by 2-3 cars now after my megan catback, vias block-off plate, grounding kit, and 17* timing advance.

you said the sedan race was closer than the coupe? that doesn't seem right...my first g race was against a sedan, and that was stock vs. stock...i pulled him by about 4 cars.

i will get a video of me and this coupe doing a grudge match sooner or later.

Your engines have the same displacement (at least I think) which should be the 3.5L V6. The only thing is, two years is a lot of time for Infinite/Nissan to make the engine more powerful.

That and I think Nissan De-tunes the Maxima in comparison to the G35, the go with the old motto, "a saloon as fast as a coupe, preposterous."

What's hilarious however is the benchmark car for the 2009 Maxima is a Porsche. I think it was Edmunds covered that really well.

Its not the driver. Its a known fact that the G35 makes more power, a typical stock 6mt maxima puts down about 200whp/205wtq, a stock G dynos closer to 240whp/210wtq on revups, and non revups dyno about 227-235whp/230wtq.

better flowing heads, better intake and intake manifold, better exhaust, thats why a G is faster, even though its heavier.

Oh and early G sedans arent slower..they're actually 50lbs lighter..

I was stating stock times. Thats like comparing my almost stock M5 to a built, boosted and nitrous mustang.

When it comes down to STOCK times, which is why i was stating STOCK numbers, a G35 6spd will be walking a 6spd maxima back and forth. and when it comes to destroying g coupes, when a g-coupe is running high 14's your beating the driver, not the car.

Isnt the G coupe actually a bit heavier than the 02-03 6mt maxima? I know mine was weighed at 3190 and I believe G coupes are ~3300lbs? Not much.

thanks man, the car definitely surprises people from time to time. If I hit low 13s with DR's Id say my goal was accomplished with the car! I love the M5...hopefully the next car for me

They have the same engine the only differance is the G35 is lighter and has like 20 more hp. A 350z vs G35 wll be a nice match up same exact car and engine!

I have a brochure of a 2003 Maxima 3.5 and I have a magazine test of both a 2004 and 2005 G35 coupe. The maxima (6MT) weighs 3,302 Lbs, the 04' G35 (6MT) weighs 3,457 Lbs and the 05' G35 (6MT) weighs 3,510 Lbs

@IrishChris1979 Yes sounds about right, have learned alot over the course of 9 months lmao. And the weight should increase over the sedan it it is awd. And also the power put down to the wheels by a stock 04 g35 should be about 225+ where as a maxima is lucky to have 210. G35 also has better gearing, and is a newer car. In most cases older cars really slow down over the years, and as mileage is put on.

Yeah I agree... My g/f's sentra se-r has over 200k miles and it definitely feels slower than it did a couple of years ago. It's still going though.

@IrishChris1979 Yea, i have seen some reviews on cars where they actually increase in speed as time goes on. I think it was a 328xi or 325. I just put 100k on my max and a tune up is seriously in order.

@rahul718- that would be a valid stat, if the 2004 g35 coupes didnt lay down 280hp and 270-273ft/lb torque, dur! ive smoked maximas, altimas, s2000s, and even a single turbo supra in my stock 6-speed G. You can take that to the bank!

@lyr123 Learn how to read. Did I ever say my max was stock? You assumed it was. My max put down 247whp with all N/A mods. A stock max puts out around 205-210whp.

5.5Gen Final Gear ratio kills it !! i know 6th gen is even with G35's 6spd vs 6spd. 6th gen 6spd with Cai. was even with 06 G35 6spd with Drop in filter

good race. you did pretty well, i drive an 05 6mt g35 which is the revup motor which is rated at 298. most revup g35's stock put around 230-240ish rwhp stock. so your maxima actually hung pretty well if that was an 05+ g35, and not the pre 05 ones

This was a drivers race basically obviously the G has the better driver think about this logically, they both have about the same amount of power and the max weighs less... I'm not hatin on g's I love them im just saying you need to learn how to drive that shit. My boy as a 2003 g35 sedan m/t I drive a 2k1 maxima with intake/headers and I always get a nose on him I'll post a video soon if you don't believe me

the G coupe weighs around 3400lb. and is rated at 280hp stock. the G sedan weighs around 3700lb. and is rated at 260hp stock, so don't brag about KEEPING UP with your "boy's" G sedan, especially when he is stock and you have intake and headers! i've ran 3 G sedans (2 6spd and 1 auto), and walked all 3 of them by 3-5 cars...they aren't that great.

why don't you run a G coupe, and when you lose, come back to me and then tell me if i really need to learn how to drive?

considering that the 3.0 is rated at 222hp and you have intake and headers, so you are running about 240hp...compared to the 3.5's rated 255hp?

@hvyft45 idk man, my lightly modded sedan auto has walked several coupes. runs a 13.90@101+. it's a hard pill for me to swallow that you've walked sedans by 3-5 cars, but can't keep up with a coupe that only has test pipes (don't forget the weight of his extra passenger which negates any gain from that mod).

I love my berk intake...I got the one with the AEM DryFlow filter for $169.99, it was worth every penny.

I haven't tried the GAB, but I think the berk shows better dyno results...plus it sounds amazing haha.
