@Awesome1601 You can find those at vietnamese grocery stores or maybe even at a resteurant supply place. Im not sure if this rice is the same, but I eat "Sticky rice" it's called sweet rice and when I cook it I used a regular veggie steamer and when it was done I just layed it flat on seran wrap. I didn't have one of those wooden bowels.
i finally found a true sushi rice cooking video, i spent nearly 30 minutes digging through the internet for one (none of the other videos incorporate the fanning technique that gives the sushi rice that glossy look )
I dont understand. I have tried 3 times making a small potion of sushi rice and everytime it take FOREVER for the slimy water to boil out and it NEVER DOES, it sticks to the pot and its never comes out fluffy, its comes like a slimy oats sorta thing. Ive followed the instructions on the bag and everything which is similar to this and it still comes out the same slimy way. Please help! I really wanna make this kind of rice!!
Sushi rice doesn't have to be this complicated! I make sushi all the time and I just clean off the rice once, boil the water, pour the rice into the boiled water and boil for about 15 minutes, or until the water is absorbed. Once the water is gone add rice vinegar and mix, then let simmer for another 15 minutes to make a 30-35 minutes total of cooking the rice. The fanning is not necessary, nor is warming the rice vinegar or soaking the rice for 30 minutes! I hope this helps for fast sushi rice!
@murdermex soaking the rice allows the grains to easily separate, making an overall prettier product. not necessary but when you pay for sushi, a lot of the cost is going into the craft of making the sushi look appealing. the heating of the vinegar is required for this method in order to absorb all of the dry ingredients added (you're probably using a premade sushi vinegar - if not, the flavors will not be as consistent as if they were completely dissolved).
unlike that annoing EXPERT VILLAGE they give you all the information on your tube and makes me want to go to their site. Expert village makes me want to kill the web site... I HATE EXPERT VILLAGE!!!!!
Listen to me, I made this rice. I ate about 3 spoonfulls and I was gipping. How anyone can eat this stuff without sticking some meat or at least some sauce kills me. This is for hippy weirdos who think that rice and vinegar and sunshine can make you a healthy. If you are normal make a nice curry to go with the rice and don't bother with that vinegar stuff. I am for real.
@himynameissam90 well, the video is called "how to make sushi rice", so i suggest the rice isn´t supposed to be eaten just like that... i think you can make sushi with the rice after preparing it - but tell me if i´m wrong XD

Good video. Most of the other 'tutorial' videos on this use a rice cooker... which doesn't teach you how to do anything.

This is a very useful video!
Until yesterday I thought it would be virtually impossible for a newbie to get a decent sushi rice. Well... I did it! Fantastic texture!!!
My only remark goes to the sugar quantity. Personally I will use less than 1/4 cup in the future.... and that future will be very soon ;)
Thanks a bunch!!!
