  • DVI and HDMI transmit the signals digitally the same. The only different is that HDMI can provide audio on top of video.

If you are looking for just a monitor HDMI = DVI.

  • look he made a grapics lower so that you can think it is stupid here is the thing DVI and HDMI are the same HD!!!!!!!!

  • DVI is exactly the same as HDMI the only diffrence is that HDMI carries Audio and DVI does not... (you need another audio cable for that)

  • HDMI with this TV makes everything look fuzzy and shit. i use DVI and never looked back seeing as i only use this monitor for my media/gaming PC and the picture looks clear and crisp.

i'm not saying HDMI is shit, its just i have never seen a picture look crisp and clear with one it just looks really rough and horrible in my experience DVI/VGA are better.

  • Can anyone tell me what's better for gaming on ps3? HDMI or the other one?

  • @Bossmagnum1 HDMI

  • My HDTV (1080p) is my main screen for many purposes. But for some reason I can't get 1080p through VGA, yet there are videos where people are using VGA and have 1080p. My native display I am getting is 1360x768, my graphics card is a GT520, can someone please tell me why it's not working?

  • @coolcar100 Change out your VGA cable. i had the same problem. changed out the cable and had perfect 1080.

  • @ProtoDimensions I found out why, certain TV's or monitors have a limit to how high it will allow a VGA cable to output, or it can be a cable, but I got the same result with different cables. It doesn't bother me anyway as the quality of the display is perfect :)

  • SET YOUR BACKGROUND AS A BLACK WALLPAPER. LOOK HOW BLACK IT IS WITH DVI... NOW SWAP YOUR MONITOR TO HDMI... LOOK HOW GREY IT IS.

  • No sound?

  • This is bs, it makes absolutely no difference. DVI is HDMI! The only difference is that HDMI also has audio, whereas DVI doesn't!

  • lagom. haha

  • @4:51 boobs.

  • just adjust the nvidia control panel.. for nvidia only..

  • I have a NVidia 9800GTX+ is woking on a Insignia TV with a DVI-HDMI cable [NOT AN ADAPTER A COMPLETE CABLE].

  • DVI = HDMI . DVI = VIDEO SIGNAL . HDMI = VIDEO SIGNAL + SOUND

  • @Bettreenlasermannen DVI can also carry audio my NVidia 9800GTX+ with a DVI to HDMI cable carries sound to my Insignia TV. DVI = Digital Video Input; Which means it carries data (eg. 10101010101) not analog color (eg. VGA). Also DVI has an data pin on it (where the '+' sign is on the cable end) that can carry info and audio.

  • i think dvi looks better, hdmi its too bright and not too good con light areas

  • hahaha maan i think you have same monitor with me. It is an LG flatron?

  • I do not want watch the comparing, I want watch the movie in the clips. :)

  • the stupid LG redering system.... boo`

  • Fail

  • wow fail comparison

  • wow fail comparison

  • Theres no difference between the two, dipshit

  • What the fuck dvi and hdmi are the same there should be no difference

  • Hello please help me! I have a samsung monitor with HDMI input bx2250 and I can not work with the pc, the problem is not seen the windows, there is only the wallpaper and the desktop. I have a sandy I5 bridge with HDMI output. PLEASE HELP ME

  • @FEGTTTSDH Try other hdmi ports if you have them.

  • @FEGTTTSDH have you plugged in more than one adapter? say, have you got a vga or dvi cable in there also? cause i did and ended up with a '2 monitor display' and it showed a blank screen with just the background :)

  • @FEGTTTSDH Do you have multiple monitors connected?

  • i hav HDMI and DVI port on my pc and DVI and VGA on monitor, and There is two port on My TV device VGA out for monitor and 15-pin terminal round shape for display card. All are u requested to suggest me best use of these port , to get better output as well as suggest me cables and convertors

  • HDMI & DVI carry the same picture information, along the same connections. DVI is just a differently shaped plug and does not carry audio. There must be something wrong with your setup.

  • HDMI looks better in dark scenes, and for pictures.

DVI is better for text, light areas, and is pretty much overall the most natural -looking.

I'm a huge HDMI fan boy, but for PC, I'd go with DVI.

  • HDMI seems to be kind more blue than the DVI

  • reason why i said " maY' about teh dell u2711 is that i dont own it nor have i found CLEAR specs about the VERSION of hdmi female in connection that you can connect an hdmi cable to. So thus, people there are MANY variables in the equation of " which is better" and again it depends on YOUR needs. I dont need to go faster than 85 mph EVER. but i wanted something dependable and fairly quick for a decent deal.thus why i chose to get a honda civic si over a freakin ferrari. cheers

  • Most hdmi cables today are either 1.3 or 1.4 by my understanding of window shopping at walmart, big lots, best buy, amazon dot com, newegg dot com. either version wont matter if the TV doesn't support more than 1920x1080p ( i have yet to find ANY TV that supports higher rez's than 1920x1080p REGARDLESS of the hz aka framerate setting it supports). however, pc monitors like the dell u2711 " MAY" support both ABOVE 1920x1080p WITH 120hz. i emailed dell about this question last nite. No reply yet

  • so thus " hdmi is better " or " dvi" is better DEPENDS on YOUR needs, the interfaces of each end of the cable that are connecting which devices and what they support. Example. My gtx 580 has a dual link female out. currently I'm using a SINGLE link dvi cable from it to a 22" samsung 1680x1050 max rez monitor that maxes at 60 hz ( aka 59/60 fps) AT THAT rez. I CANNOT get above 60 fps or that reZ OR BOTH unless i get a monitor that supports either or both AND use a DUAL link dvi cable=FACT

  • ok people do a search for " dvi wikipedia" and " hdmi wikipedia" GET YOUR FACTS 100% organized, corrected, and accounted for. dvi can be WORSE or better can hdmi in max rez "AND" 60 fps DEPENDING ON THE TYPE. There's single link dvi, dual link dvi. and mini in between versions ( dvi-i, dvi-d, dvi-a). fact= hdmi 1.3 on a WQXGA monitor ( as long as it has the hdmi 1.3 female in) can produce 2560x1600 rez at 60 fps max. now we have 1.4, also dual link dvi can do the exact same. look it up.

  • 3:25 , Nice square pixel !

  • How can my dvi monitor show how good a hdmi monitor is? Question.

  • DVI and HDMI is the same video quality the only diference is that HDMI can stream audio. You need to adjust your monitor settings in order to reach the same quality with each cable.

  • hey guys, look, I was trying to let you decide which (dvi or hdmi) fits better for you; but just to state the obvious: when feeding a signal on the HDMI input on some monitors (like LG M227WD-PZ TV monitor I used) [this means it can even come out from your DVI, as long as it goes in the HDMI input of the monitor) will cause the monitor to execute additional post processing (like enhance colors, make it more eye candy [done by XD Engine inside the monitor]) - this is good for movies; bad for text.

  • so which is better??

  • Comment removed

  • i got a monitor that supports hdmi, and dvi, its an LCD monitor, so which cable do you advice me to use for gaming... dvi or hdmi?

  • @Dragonathan if your tv is full hd and well-performing, hdmi better.it 's worth it

  • Why even make a comparison, DVI and HDMI is the exact same resolution, the only difference is how it looks and that HDMI transfers sound too :D:D

  • You don't necessarily need a DVI or HDMI output or cable to connect a PC to your T.V., a VGA cable will work just as well so long as your TV supports it properly.

The only difference is Digital vs. Analog, and unless the T.V. actually does things like processing (or your computer does video processing/decoding) the classic VGA cable will be all you need.

  • The color in the DVI is so much better for you

but i think since DVI and HDMI are technically the same

it would come down to individual hardware, not the input formats for individuals.

  • do the girls die?

  • HDMI LIGHT BLUE, DVI blue xD jajajaja

  • What do i need to use? (plz awnser)

MINI display port -> DVI -> Hdmi

    MINI display port -> Hdmi

The dvi-hdmi one is cheaper cuz its free with the monitor

  • colos look better on the hdmi. imo.

  • wats the name of the movie?

  • @stablizershock

Legend of the Seeker (TV Series 2008–2010) first episode

  • for hidef movies I have my 105 cm sony bravia engine 2 and my ps3. For writing or some youtube videos I have my BENQ. So I think it's better to use DVI on your PC and HDMI for your flatscreen.

  • nicely done.

  • OMFG DVI = HDMI. What a faggot.

  • @Lordani66 yes the signal is transmitted the "same way". If the monitor wouldn't do any extra processing of the video for HDMI then the two (DVI & HDMI) would look the same. But as you can see, this TV-monitor (at least) does process the video so it is "better" for videos when using HDMI (looks better than DVI when watching movies: at least extending vertical angle of view for the monitor see @00:00 then check your vertical angle of view see link in description when DVI then when HDMI)

  • @nonsensicalguh What about for games? Does it look better when gaming?

  • @Lordani66

dvi =/= hdmi. grow a brain

  • @imaPiranah .Actually you need the brain. DVI stands for at least ONE of the following: Digital 'VIDEO" interface. or digital " VIDEO" input. It DOESN'T SAY A DAMN THING ABOUT "MULTI media." multi..many more that one..." media" CAN mean both video and audio. HERE'S YOUR SIGN. You could run for president..hell it would be easy..after all..too many idiot white and mostly black morons elected a fucking illegal half black half white/muslim name Barry Soetoro aka Obama. class dismissed

  • @chronofusion

Dvi does not support audio. Hdmi supports audio. Thus, dvi =/= hdmi.

Picture quality is exactly the same.

Now that that's settled, let me start by saying that I have no clue what you're talking about. With that in mind, get a therapist.

  • @imaPiranah ok..um..I COULDN'T CARE ANY LESS..ABOUT USING what appear to be algebra symbols to TRY to defend your point... I already SAID dvi and hdmi are NOT the same because DVI has NOTHING in it's abbreviated TITLE about audio. you need an executioner to rid the world of your " I have to sound smarter than you by using shit 99.9999% of the world would laminate their testicles in joy about" get a fuckin clue and pick one method to explain your shit..ya cunt. it's n to rocket science.

  • @imaPiranah and if ya can't " have a clue" about what i said at first..which was VERY SIMPLE PLAIN CLEAR ENGLISH...then "hooked on phonics." I heard from barry soetoro that program is not tax deductible and there is a discounted rate for FUCKTARDS like yourself. give him a call .hell.I'm pretty sure since he's prefers continuing the " entitlement" bs..that he'll feel entitled to giving you another clue about how to HIDE being a fucktard. hell he got elected SHIT HE'S A PRO.class dismissed

  • @chronofusion

hahaha. I feel terrible taunting you. But seriously you should read what you've been typing.. sure it's probably embarrassing for you but I find it quite entertaining to read. Anyhow as much as I desire to continue this act of being "clueless", I'm afraid I no longer want to waste my time with you.

  • @Lordani66 Retard, since when can dvi transmit audio?

  • @thepunishment I was talking about video you piece of monkey shit with IQ of a chimpanzee.

  • @Lordani66 And forgot the sound, who is the retard? Also your atempt to humiliate me or "own" me has failed in the matter that a chimp isnt dumb atleast not compared to you, a homoerectus.

  • @Lordani66 Its the same, but that doesnt mean there isnt signal loss over one of the two.

Technically D-SUB is the highest res possible "standard VGA" look around

    but HDMI often looks better.

its no so black and white with these things, goof.

  • @Lordani66 Actually i have a dual monitor set up right now and something really strange happened the dvi monitor has better image quality than my hdmi monitor and there both the same model running off the same card weird huh?

  • @Lordani66 Indeed HDMI is the same shit as DVI. HDMI can support higher resolutions + sound output

  • so DVI is better?

  • @Zizalik2 Well I wouldn't want to generalize, but for this (TV/)monitor M227WD it is better DVI if you're looking at your desktop (ie. reading text) else if you're watching a movie I'd recommend watch it via its HDMI;

on another note LG W2363V monitor also does seem to have a quality difference between DVI and HDMI, though it's way lower than the same difference on M227WD - HDMI on W2363V seems a bit yellowish(didn't look much into it though). Thank you all for your comments. Have a nice day!

  • @nonsensicalguh i have a damn "pc" cable. (or vga, whatever) u know, the one with the blue connections. i have a DVI connection in my video card, and ill have a HDMI +2 DVI connections in the new one.... do u suggest me getting a dvi or a hdmi cable? (not sure if its included.. since both my 9600GT and flatscreen support DVI but i cant find a damn dvi cable anywhere. they didnt include one... :/)

  • @gabrocki hehe..i see from your " damn pc cable " comment you may occasional get frustrated at the amount of pc info out there . I dont blameya..been custom building gaming pc's since 2001. it is alot to soak in. the vga cord or rather the port on an older pc that it plugs into is also called D sub. TO answer your question. if you're prefering to buy local in person at a retail or pc store * walmart, best buy, um I think Costco and Fry's, CompUSA if they're still in business, also.......

  • @chronofusion local... store? CompUSA? lmfao. thats a bit far from hungary. i have a dvi cable now anyway.

  • @gabrocki sorry lol. It's easy for me to forget youtube is all over the world. im so used to talk to americans and canadians. that was my randomn brain fart for the day. please excuse my cerebral flagulence. thank you :D

  • @chronofusion uh ok no probs XD

  • thanks man one hell of a video, was the seeker in any hd format or just some dvd rip?

  • @hawkboy4 720p

  • thanks for the video
