  • too much coffee

  • Terry is one of those people most only know as the drummer for MP. If you dig deeper that was the LOW point of his career and you find he's a monster drummer. However...here we see he definitely needs to remember excess is NOT always best. Some spaces would have been nice.

  • I prefer Bozzio's work with Zappa.

  • @pooperscoopr69 So do I. FZ would have frown up if he heard Terry playing like this.

  • speed kills

  • Saw Guitar Shop Trio in Offenbach in '90. Great show! True heavyweights of fusion rock!

  • turn off the stupid limiter on your video camera next time.

  • Awesome, geez Jeff easily on that thing,LOL ,rock on everyone!

  • Its like he's on a different stage than Beck!

This is an example of what a drummer shouldn't do! Love Terry, but he completely spoiled the groove of this classic tune, Man!! can't you just play a simple shuffle like the song calls for?

  • @fkhodada Yea! Terry's a drummer that can play punk, rock and make it swing.I think he's playing to many fills on this number.Jeff knows how to play with his groove, but there almost no open space to make it effective.

  • Drummer's to loud!!!

  • muy bonito guitarista

  • With all due respect and thanks, CHEERSPRO.

The audio quality on this sucks and ain't likely to impress anyone about your actual attendence experience at this concert.

I think I speak for most YT surfers who mostly look to hear certain artists perform certain numbers.

Operative word being, 'hear', good person.

Which usually goes hand in hand with making any musical track sound maximal.

As long as you keep this posted, only YOU sound about as swift as a turkey on crack.

    Sir or Madam.

  • "As long as you keep this posted, only YOU sound about as swift as a turkey on crack."

Beautiful. Sums up my thoughts precisely.

  • You are an ignorant idiot.

  • I used to get bootleg records that sounded worse than this, yet still enjoyed them.

Yeah it's got video cam pumping audio compression, but I still get a fun 'you are there' vibe from it.

  • How could u believe that! I'm sorry but whoever sent that wanted 2 make a giant chain letter!

  • too fast and the drums sounds bad

  • yeah it's an audience recording dumbass

  • did he ever play this with Tal Wilkenfeld? or did he only do "We Ended as Lovers." or something like that with her?

  • Saw Beck, Bozzio, and Hymas(?) in Offenbach in '90 while tationed in Germany. What an amazing concert!

  • highway jelly

  • ang gling nyo

  • the drummer sucks... HAHAHA, do your homework and check your hearing!

  • Dude.... Bozzio sucks?

I saw him with Frank Zappa years ago...wild.

  • Bozzio is awesome. It's just that Vinnie overshadowed him, I think.

  • Love Bozzio, And Vinnie is tech brilliant, but don't like him with beck at all. He over plays way to much. As Bozzio is probably doing here.

  • huge ass bass drums

  • No the drumming is fantastic - what do you mean "this kind of song"? You mean songs about freeways or songs about jam (ie musicians jamming)?

  • I'm a huge Bozzion fan, but even I think his drumming is too much for this kind of song, really a laid back pocket thing, not an assault...but anyway, still very interesting.

  • So correct. TB's drumming on this perf way too busy. btw, ever listen to the John McLaughlin/Billy Cobham duet on JM's "Electric Guitarist"? Its called Compulsion Phenomenon, I think.

  • no never heard it, but I'll try to check it out. I still need to hear the Brecker Brothers heavy metal be-bop.....Bozzio on Guitar shop is incredible though!! Amazing drummer, seen him 2X in clinic, makes me cry when i play the drums:)

  • no disrespect to EVH, but ive never heard him play anything like "Goodbye porkpie hat","Definately Maybe" or "Cause We've Ended as Lovers"

  • eddie van halen worships beck..and still 1/3 the guitar player

  • Eddie would be nowhere without the likes of Beck and Blackmore. PERIOD

  • Agreed. They both rock.

  • Comparing Jeff Beck to Eddie Van Halen is like Saying Rosie O is simular to Halle Berry.

  • Only 1 JB on the planet.

  • And Rosie O IS a fuckin' Planet! :/

  • Only the other way around. Jeff Beck is To EVH as Halle Berry is to Rosie O.

  • We all have our own opinions about guitarists, but COME ON, EVH is still running wild man. I love Jeff Beck. And I love EVH. But the truth is, I don't think that he comes close to Eddie. Kinda like how AC/DC is my favorite band and Angus Young is my favorite guitarist, but all he does in every song is play the same chords over. You gotta pay Eddie some respect.

  • Well, I'm not sure about not touching. I do feel that's a load of bull, really. They're two entirely different players. Generally, I operate under this rule: Love them all. Why compare? This world can take all the amazing musicians it can get.

  • Eddie Van Halen changed the way every guitar player played guitar in LA. If you were in the music scene about that time you would know that. A guitar player on every block was trying to be like Eddie Van Halen. Yes, Angus playing A minor all the time does get boring...

  • Forgot real kicker was super wide lobby stairs all red carpeted were otherwise vacant of other souls. Empty! Nobody! 'cept the 2 way old dudes in tuxedos hangin there with JB at top of first 24ft stairway landing.

    Poor Jeff. Totally dejected. Lol

  • Why has nobody figured out yet that Eddie Van Halen got his whole style from Jeff Beck? I love both players and the more i listen to them the more i realize they are joined at the amp, siamese twin style.

  • hacksaw58: agree. MUTEWATCH this vid while 1 w/ jan hammer scores.

dxxn: Gotta think in our hearts we're obliged to give Ed some of his own at the same time. C'mon now.

Funny doofy me I go down to get a coke at the Orpheum in Boston, circa '75. Opening act for JB had just completed encore, was the spankity new 'Heart'. Had 1 JB 8track (no pics). So on way up lobby stairs I jog rt by JB as he says to me.. "hurry up you'll miss the show." Me I never evn pause til day I buy nxt Beck 8track.

  • What i mean is, Beck's thing is pure creativity. Eddie copped that from him big time. I hope i don't give the impression that eddie stole any of Beck's licks. I meant Beck's style of playing with the guitar and with feel more than, like, copping his tone or licks.

  • His tapping technique was done by Jimmy Page and used a lot by Steve Hackett, so it wasn't exactly new. But Eddie did take the ball an ran with it!

  • AUDIO SUCKS

  • Ouch.. Just been listening to "Blow by Blow"..this is so 70's..gotta love the funky electric piano."You know.." first track is just so....!! Scatterbrain is amazing .. and JB loves his reggae.Freeway .. is just brilliant

  • Great Jeff !!!

  • jeff dosent like to play live never has ... not egg zackly a people person .... stays home and works on his cars , he's got alot of old relics he like to restore ...still the greatest player out there ...

  • anyone know why he doesn't play this live anymore? the version on the live at bbking club cd rocks so hard

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

i play it live and you should check out an edited video of it on my youtube page. enjoy!

  • Good point. I have never seen him play this live even in Berkeley 1980!

  • I read a comment he made about not really liking this song... something to the effect of it coming across as a silly Irish jig.

  • I was at that BB Kings Show - Standing Only and 12 feet From the Stage - My Ears are Still Ringing...The Only Way To see Him..Closeup!

  • Jeff plays on special occasions but does not tour. He's semi-retired and is very happy working on cars as much as playing guitar. He's still amazing.

  • Jeff Beck has toured the world in support of the last three studio albums he released! "Who Else!" in '99, "You Had It Coming" in '01, "Jeff" in '03. He released a live recording of the '03 tour. He came out with a retrospective tour of his work in 2006. He released a live recording from that tour. He had a half dozen or so shows around the world leading up to the Crossroads gig. He just did six shows at Ronnie Scott's in London a couple of weeks ago! He is out and about. Don't miss him!

  • I watched an episode of Car Crazy on the Speed channel one Sunday morning and Jeff was there showing off his garage. He said that he was semi-retired. I guess that means only working your butt off.

  • Man, that Ronnie Scott's gig would have been great, but tickets were over 100 quid each. Still, I've seen him a few times now. Must track down those live albums though.

  • Jeff Beck: Live at BB King Blues Club, recorded 9/03. Jeff Beck: Official Bootleg USA '06, recorded 4/06. Originally only available at live shows or online via his website or Sony/BMG. There may be other outlets for these discs by now, but I am not aware of any for new discs. Original price for me was about $15 US for the '06... and probably about the same for the '03.

  • What defines "the best" guitar, drums, bass, player?

  • personal opinion. Never let anyone tell you otherwise man.

  • anyone know why he doesn't play this live anymore? the version on the live at bbking club cd rocks so hard

  • terry bonzieo is crazy, but not as good as simon phillips.

  • I've always thought that Jeff Beck makes a great case for becoming a great musician - you get to play with other great musicians...all of the time.

  • got to agree with jeffbeckis1

  • too much drumming going on. Beck didn't dig the over playing on the synth either.

  • gj.---awesome

  • ho77ite - if you ever get the chance to buy a life, buy two, you might lose one!

  • Don't get me wrong, while Bozzio is a great musician but his thunderous noisy style seems to be in conflict with the kind of accurate efficient clean articulation that's needed for a jazz fusion funk style. I guess that type of music didn't translate well to an arena-rock sound.

  • bebop- Jeff beck needs a big bass drum such as Bozzio to bring out his best- You are watching the best guitar player and the best drummer in the world hands down!!!

  • LOL. You remind me of one of those Rush fanatics......although you do have better taste. One correction: Bozzio is a human being.

  • i want my money back.

  • Looks to me like one of the 3-night stint at Royal Festival Hall in London, September 2002 (Sep. 13, 14, 15 if memory serves me right...)

The drummer is Terry Bozzio. Keyboard (not in vision) is Tony Hymas.

  • I have to know who is that drummer?

  • the drummer is Terry Bozzio

  • where is this from? this isn't the msg or italy show that I know from this tour. cool post.

  • MSG was great! w/ SVR and an encore jam with "I'm Down"
