@MrMedal77 The author of Animal Farm was a Marksist. Animal farm was not against communism. It tried to show how communism worked (not very well). It reminded me merely of Animal farm not because of the story but the cartoons.
This is not Disney thinking. This is the arrogant conventional thinking of the 1940s. Modern notions of ecology don't really get going until the 1950s. In the 1940s they are spraying DDT directly onto people. In the 1950s and into the 1960s, brush-clearing workers are getting sprayed with arsenic in North America. Dousing themselves with "harmless" herbicides to cool off in summer. There was still little attention being paid to long-term consequences of expedient short-term solutions.
disney told people to spray their ponds and homes with Arsenic! to poison their water with oil and paris green and to plow the wetlands into the ground!
It's important to realize that this video was released in 1943! Lots of things have changed since then--but the basic principles remain the same. Eliminate standing water around your home whenever possible by dumping birdbaths and disposing of those things that may collect water. Keep ponds stocked with fish. And fill in spots that flood regularly with water! Fortunately Malaria is hardly a problem anymore in the U.S.--mostly thanks to messages like these and the programs created in the 40s
Haha, i couldnt sleep the whole night, because of such a thing, there were 3 in my room last night, i killed 2, the last one is still alive. But now i know what to do, SPRAY OIL ON THE WATER!!
i have a broken bathtub in my bathroom and ther we everywer as soon as u opened ther door they wud fly out everywer just breeding in mybathroom i had air freshenerso ishut the door and just sprayed
atta boy Dopy! kill'er good and dead! lmao wow go Walt Disney. weird though how we're suppose to fill in ponds and lakes and rivers while also burying Cans? xD
I am taking math classes in college so that I can eventually go for a pre-med biochemistry degree. I want to eventually enter medical school and work toward eradicating malaria. I would love to chat with you about malaria, when I'm not cramming for a trigonometry exam, that is. You can message me if you want.
ohh wow, well my major is International Business and this was for my biology class...i gave a thumbs up to ur comment below because it was funny lol...good luck on ur exam ;)
When I was involved in malaria control in West Timor, I also propagated the widespread use of the larva-eating fish, Gambusia, for extensive dissemination in the large bodies of water in the catchment areas. Not only did I personally go to the mountains; I also went to the depths of the region in spreading the fish. The fish not only ate the larvae of the mosquitoes (of all species), the adult fish were also quite nutritious when eaten by the malnourished children.
While malaria may seem an antiquated disease to US citizens, much of the world is still affected by it. According to this month's National Geographic, half a billion people will be infected and a million will die, most of those deaths being children under 5. Films like this are still important educational tools and while we have better chemicals for safely getting rid of mosquitos the old rules of using bed nets and getting rid of standing water still hold up.
Well, you have to remember this was made in WWII, when the diseases we consider obscure (measles, rubella, polio, etc) or fairly harmless (the fu, pneumonia) were a constant worry; a lot of the things that they suggested were very bad ideas, but the basic idea wasn't: keep bugs out. For example, mosquito screens. Back then, that was a novelty, but the average person who walks into a modern house would be surprised that they don't have mosquito screens.
It's horrible to see how children's propaganda shows children and brings them up to pollute at all costs because of an irrational fear of something like mosquitos. Granted, Malaria is a bad disease, but this is going too far.
the oil is lighter than water and it floats and it isn't becoming and omogen liquid

1. Destroy Weed
2. Oil water or spray chemicals!
3. Destroy pool itself
Isnt it easier to destroy the pool rather than poison it first?
yanoosz 2 years ago 2
sure...put oil in the water. Itll kill the "wigglers"
but maybe a few thousand other organisms LOL
