  • 4:38 future past! what a genius! typical hong kong english!

  • I think Raymond and Sonja speak well enough English. I am very impress with their English. They both are bilingual or trilingual. That is very impressive and they are well educated. Sonja and Raymond both are attractive, full of charisma, and well mannered with nice smile. I think we need more HK people like that in the Hk city.

  • 大把人係英美澳加讀UNI 都係咁上下英文GA LA... 算LA

    藝人都係打份工JE, 佢地又吾係係HOLLWOOD

  • im not a fan of the guy but i did hear him say "We will DO our best..." not bad..

  • 小學生的英文呀!!!!

  • 聽完佢地d英文就知道要學好英文啦!!

  • All he knows is choks lol

You sure will chok'ed the girls :D

  • 林峰大學時期去過外國讀書......點解會咁差?

  • 咁既垃圾都會紅~唱歌走音又唔靚仔=.=唔係佢老豆有錢一早收皮啦

  • @753928 You speak like an uneducated person. Is that how hk people talk? Please don't embarrass HK people on youtube. I often wonder why so many hk people have such poor public manner. They love screaming loudly in the public. All you hear is um..hum..mum.un un un..Some Hk people turn cantonese into the world most annoying language.

  • 04:38 過去將來式?

  • "We will did our best?"

    Future past tense?

  • they both very good at English..they are not come from American , so cannot have accent of American ...but her accent not too heavy of Chinese...

  • Is there part 2?

  • they're English is not that bad.. some can't even communicate in English.. Ray actually says yo, hi, LF, Let's Chok the house from time to time lol.....

  • their english may not be perfect, but it's not as bad as some ppl are saying it is. not perfect doesn't mean it's bad; even some americans have accents when they speak. but seriously, why is this such a big matter? at least they can communicate using english. if you couldn't understand what they were saying, then that's your problem. it's not a huge deal if someone's english isn't perfect.

  • the guy really NOT professional

  • I can tell that they're speaking in stong accent and lack of ideas.

  • @y5th stong accent????

  • Lmao u see that girl next to him, she couldn't stop laughing.

  • Raymond speaks English quite good. I love his accent :DD

  • so what???????

  • raymond's english sucks. sonia is the one that keep answering with complete answers.

  • @aLOOhope wat r u talking about !? raymond english is awesome ! really fluent =]

  • 5:25 RAYMOND:咩意思? xd

  • What were the questions?

  • 04:38 林峯said " We will did our best" LOL ^^

  • @ihavetwodicks1 I think i heard We will give our best... i think its just u

  • @lizihao1130 林峯有你E個 fan[屎] 真係好

  • @ihavetwodicks1 傻hi一個。

  • @lizihao1130 傻燃一個

  • Sonia is very calm.

    Raymond seems uncomfortable.

The problem arises when comfort and confidence are replaced by anxiety and fear.

  • For someone whose English is not their first language...They both speak well. I understand everything they spoke. For those who criticise...are you bilingual???

Criticise only if you are bilingual and speak both languages fluently okay...so shut up.

  • Comment removed

  • Ignorant people are making positive comments on Raymond solely because he is cute. He speaks slightly better than the girl sitting beside him, that's it. They both sucked at speaking understandable English.

  • @acb55555 why not go to hong kong and speak some canto? bet ppl are gonna be like this fuking shit cant speak chinese for fuk

  • boring...

  • Their eng sucks :S

  • what an awkward press conference.

  • Sonja's English is much better than Lam Fong's.

  • His english is so cute!

  • Nice people Nice food, great place to live in. LOL. :) her chinese is so cute :P

Even tho they always say 'erm erm um ' LOL so cute :3

  • Beside after china take over HK, they want student to learn more "Mandarin" then English. WTH.

  • I was surprise Sonia's English worst than Raymond, she's Miss HK...come on!

  • @fakeid412 not to mention shes actually half british

  • @msbrownization she is actually 1/4 british, not half!

  • People from HK don't need to speak English on daily base, just like Vietnamese people whom think they can speak Cantonese...

  • wat are they talking?

  • their english is so crap :(

  • 佢哋喺韓國做乜嘢?

  • Raymond Lam used to study in St Paul Co-ed College, one of the most prestigious secondary school in HK, for his secondary school education.

  • @shoushunah Not ST PAUL co-ed

  • They sound so thick.

  • U suck@babygirl

  • raymound's accent is a mix of american and chinese.I love it :)

  • did anyone hear what raymond said about korean girls? it was too low for me to hear...

  • Being in Canada you really don't need to speak much English. Richmond located in Vancouver is called Mini Hong Kong because it's dominated by Chinese people. People who use Cathy Pacific are mostly Chinese people, so it's not surprising her English is not that good. Raymond probably have to use his English more when he was here for a hear.

  • @babyqirl r u srs? Vancouver is full of asians? i thought i was a white town

  • @talk2malawyer white are minority in vancouver :p

  • otherwise there could be a possibility where they fatally cause a misunderstanding that can unexpectedly ruin the image and alliance between HK and Korea. With fame it comes with so much more than just being able to love and enjoy what you do, but surely they could only say what is appropriate and remain professional while "try" to act natural. Please do not discriminate them based on their English speaking skills and do create stereotypes for those that were born/raised in US/Canada and HK

  • Raymond on the other hand his English fluency if was true that he only spent 1 year in US to learn, he did quite well for thinking "on-the-spot". In addition, I must add as a fan of theirs, as a Chinese that was born and raised in HK then move to US when I was 10 means that I highly support HK TV actors/actresses and would not discriminate them because of their English proficiency. I mean come on people, be real they were probably and MOST LIKELY given directions to say ONLY SO MUCH

  • @Parakizz i agree, they do learn english in hongkong and/or china but they don't use english as much as chinese. I myself think they are awesome, and dreamed of joining as one of them even though my chinese isn't as good as my family members.

  • However, this also doesn't mean that because one lived and was raised in Van BC that he/she would speak bare minimal English as necessary because it was filled with Chinese people. You can be BORN and RAISED in US but if you were not provided with opportunities or self-motivated to speak and learn English then you won't ever be considered as a fluent speaker.

  • Learning English is far different than SPEAKING English. One can learn the grammar and understand how to properly construct a sentence, but to speak it fluently as you were to write it is totally different. Sonija cannot be compared to Raymond due to their background and history with speaking English. Just because you live in Vancouver BC it doesn't mean that you ARE fluent with SPEAKING English.

  • So poor in English of them.

  • haha the way Raymond sed "professional" att 3:18 is REALLY GOOD. haha

when hed spoke english at moonlight resonance. i thought he was fluent in English ><

  • ackk it seems like they have limits to using English. Raymond has a bit of American accent. it seems like both of them are suffering. they can't find any better vocab lol. but they're so cute ><

  • aww man, their english expressions are limited :(

haha but i like raymond's english

  • those dislike are blind!

  • woooh...i thought sonija is from canada??? O_O"

  • boring conference,,,,,,,

  • raymond speaks some vocabs in english in The Mysteries of Love and his pronunciation is not good at all.

  • lol what did he say about Korean girls? i couldn't hear him because he was laughing...

  • If Sonija grew up with majority Chinese, she wouldn't need to use English that much since Vancouver has lots of Chinese there. On the other hand, Raymond came from St Paul which i believe it's an English school which makes his English somewhat presentable but in my opinion it still has very heavy HK accent. I don't hear any US accent at all.

  • I wanna know what the lady gave ray to make him smile like that lol

  • Sonia is 1/4 British. Apparently she didn't learn English from her British relations with that thick Cantonese accent.

  • both of them have heavy accents!!

  • @rs1985 well Im sure she can pull through UNI with that english i've heard worse.. its not that bad. but compared with raymond..yes she still has some chinese accent.

  • to note that Ray is asking what language should this press conference be in during 00:45. He was asking is it 'Mandarin'? and he got an answer that it shall be in 'English'. He was actually not prepared for it...

  • @xiaozen00 I believe he asked in Cantonese because both Sonija and him know canto

  • woah! raymond's english is better than sonija lol

  • Both very awkward!! Sonjia has horrible english.

    "Good food" xD.

  • Sonija was studying in Canada for a few years in SFU

i wonder how she manage to pull through with that kinda english

  • Sonija keeps nodding. Raymond keeps looking around. Awkward!

  • sonija's english is sooooo bad.... and she studied at canada too.

  • 0:50

    "講中文 ... 定講英文 ?"

  • @peacie21

Raymond has studied in the States for a year I believe..

  • haha awkward interview. they should've invited jessica hsuan over too coz her english is very good and she's very talktive. ah ray and sonija looks a bit uncomfortable here

  • i thought she's mix o.O woah!!!

  • OMG

AFTER MOONLIGHT RESONANCE I THOUGHT RAYMOND LAM CANNOT SPEAK ENGLISH.

    this is quite impressive. omggg.

  • haha i tink in moonlight resonance he muz purposely speak super weirdly but very funny & cute

  • How do you pronouce her name in english?

    she said sonia?

  • @81026597 Song-ly-a

  • sonijia = song ly a?

thanks! what weird pronunciation! how did u find out?

  • @81026597 I watched one of her interviews from tvb b4 and thats how the other people pronounced it :P

  • the questions are lame, their answers are lame.. -.-

  • :S i thought sonjia CAN DO BETTER THAN THAT!

    she has an accent....

  • i thought shes a mix.

    wow.

  • totally agree with you. i thought she was a mix and brought up in Canada. yet, some of my friend brought up in the western country, but cantonese is still their first language. However, accent is not important tho, as long as u can use the language to communicate is fine.

  • In Canada, teachers do not encourage students to get rid of their accent . How can a person have no accent in English as well in Cantonese? You will have accent in either way. Being in Western countries for a year doesn't mean you can master the skill of the English. I've been in Canada for 20 years and I still have little bit of accent. It's hard to speak both language fluently without any accent of one or the other. That's just my experience.

  • love your thoughts

  • @cruel2003 Thanks!! I just think Chinese, (assuming most people comment this are Chinese also) we should be proud of our kind to even able to speak English! You can definately find most Chinese now days to able to speak some level of English all over China, but you can't go to English speaking countries to find people that can speak Chinese! So don't compare and critize about the way they speak, just be proud of them they are speaking outside their own language!

  • @akarli78 I agree with you for the fact that every person will have their own accent especially with multicultural background like me.I can master three languages, but still will mix up the pronounciation when I talk to the locals, but have a very different accent when I talk to westerners. I think every person will definitely get better with practise.

  • @akarli78 Right. Besides, the term accent is very subjective. I have been speaking English all my life and I still get tongue tied when I get onto certain words.

  • @akarli78 if you are not from UK, you have an ACCENT

  • @akarli78 agreed, but if you were born there and raised there and was taught with their language u can speak it like a native

  • @kfki Bosco Wong is another famous HK TV actor. He is not pepper sauce and if he was, he would be a fine bottle of hot pepper sauce for those that appreciate and like his acting

  • @kfki He is a quite famous Hong Kong actor/star. And please don't swear.

  • his english is soooo much better than Bosco.

  • what was that lady giving them that cause to raymond to laugh.

Why did they get a lady to translate in english? They should have gotten a cantonese translator at least.

  • As long as we can communicate with each other.

  • Sonija?quite a weird name...

  • they both look great!

  • They both studied in Canada and State , however ,the English skills are unacceptable in accordance with their education backgound .

I don't think they had successfully earned the degree or diploma when they are back to Hong Kong.

  • English and Chinese are from different language groups. English has a harder sound because of it's Germanic and Latin roots with different nuances. Just because you have a university doesn't mean you suddenly can speak fluent English without an accent. Consider that they live in HK where English is not the primary language and do not speak English for their work. It's hard to sustain learned foreign language if you're not speaking it consistently.

  • Oh, please. I study in Belgium and even though I live in Flanders and speak Dutch, we're suppose to learn French (AND of course English and German) at school (Belgium has 3 official languages: Dutch, French and German)... I still can't strike up a simple conversation in French even though I've been learning it for, like, 7 years. So I think they both did great in their English, a little accent is ok.

  • 果個日本人講咩呀...聽唔明喇...都唔知講咩的...

  • good...

  • considering sonija is part british (i believe), her english is quite poor. however, i suppose you cant expect too much from hong kong stars because their environment does not allow them to practice their english. :|

  • worse still, Sonija was an university student in Canada...

  • sonjia used to live in vancouver, but her english isn't that good.. besides she always uses the adjective "great".

raymond's english is good considering that he learned english in hk, although he studied in the states for a year.

  • yea...I'm totally agreed with you lol

  • @bubblegumlover148 lol no wonder there so many cantonese people living there that you don't even need to know english to survive there.

  • Ray's english is so good!

  • He just repeated what she said, LOL!

  • I think ray's english is not that bad, it's just the grammar thay both of them need...

  • Ray's English is pretty good.

  • I don't see you replying in English. Do you even speak English?

  • haha....you rock!!!!

  • Actually Sonjia's and Raymond's English quite the same. Their slang full of Asiatic. Well they are from Hong Kong, is ok if they had those slang while communicating in press-conference.

  • I work at a Canadian University and there are hundreds of students from Hong Kong and China that couldn't speak English if they're life depended on it. A lot of these kids come to Canada but they only hang out with people from the same country. They never use English outside of school and therefore never really pick up the English language.

  • I wonder wat raymond is laughing about.... haha...raymond made so many funny expressions in tis clip. so cute n funny

  • Both are good to me. Sonija didn't sound that bad like others are commenting.

  • yup, i thought she sound okay. I have seen way worst.

  • Raymond has pretty good English :)

  • it's a bit surprised that Raymond could speak English better than Sonija cuz Raymond only stayed in US for a year.Raymond did pick up a little American accent tho!I thought Sonija could speak way better than that cuz she graduated from college in Canada and she was once a flight attendant of Cathay Pacifics.

  • @starpluto @bubblegumlover148 and also her dad's half British.

  • sonija has shit english.. not just bad... i'm from UBC and i speak way better english than that... i wouldn't say i'm without accent but she can't even communicate in that language and i'm very surprised. Raymond is hot and I think he only went overseas for just couple of years and he has picked up great accent... its just sad how parents worked so hard to send kids overseas and they don't even pick up the absolute minimal: the language

  • Woah that surprised me, I thought Sonija went to a Canadian school, wth, her English blows!

  • I didn't say you can't lol, I just said it was surprising because I thought she had been there for a long time.

How is English not Canada's official language? LOL we have two official languages (Eng and French), french isn't even a mandatory class after gr8 (in van). Get your facts right yo :)

  • LOL french our official language ur funny, have u been to Canada before? or did u go directly to Quebec and assumed everyone spoke french in canada?

  • French is one of the official language in Canada. If you apply for government jobs, it would be one of the requirements.

  • No one is perfect.

Although they are many people's role models you can't expect perfection from them. So why judge

As long as we understand, its wil fine !!

  • he is so perfect~~~ he noes so mani languages !!

  • Raymond's english is soo good compared to Sonja.

  • Anyways as long as we understand what they're talking about that's all that matters... we shoulnd't expect their enlgish to be like a foreigner or like asian born overseas.. its just not gonna happen... anyways just my opinion

  • I'm borned overseas.. i"ve lived in toronto and New York City and Im in Buffalo for school right now.. and I've also visited hong kong alot of times( my parents are from hong kong) alot of people in hong kong have that accent.. its not uncommon even all the international students from hong kong at my school thjye all have an accent. And you may think hong kong is an international city... and it is.. but that doesn't mean people has to speak perfect english,...

  • But like Ive said if you don't use it.. and in hong kong you don't need to speak that much english all the time... you lose the fluency in it.. Plus.. the accent she has isn't uncommon...

  • well .. i don't know aboute kate and Sonija but Angela Tong is from Montreal and grew up there.. her english has to be good.. and Sonija went to University of British Columbia in Canada so it shouldn't be that bad.. then again if you don't use english for a long time.. you're not gonna be as fluent (and who knows if she spoke english outside of Class in canada.. there's alot of chinese.. maybe she's always talking chinese out side of class) too

  • Sonija was born in HK, but immigrated to Vancouver, Canada for several years (for her studies); so she isn't expected to have her accent removed (it's very hard to get ride of your accent at such 'old' age). PLUS, Vancouver's official language is FRENCH, not ENGLISH! Chances are English was only taken as a second language, in class or otherwise. I personally think both their English aren't bad. For ones who doesn't speak English often, they aren't bad at all!

  • WTF? French is official language in Vancouver? are u fuckin retarded? What's next? official language in China is English? LMFAO

Her english is so bad for someone that studied in canada....... her accent is soooo heavy... even worse than some of my frds in HK......

  • lol have you even BEEN to vancouver before? i live there and everyone speaks freaking ENGLISH not FRENCH!!

  • Raymond speaks english without a canto accent.. in fact he sounds like he has a slight american accent.. i think his english is pretty good.. just a bit slow.. better than sonija anyway..
