  • Kira against the Klingon. What a BS.

  • @Urvakhsha I can sort of buy it because Kira is a fighter. Dax and Sisko, on the other hand, is a bit implausible.

  • @evrbody I can agree with you on Sisko, but Dax was probably channeling her past lives' battle experiences when going hand-to-hand with the Klingons, maybe.

  • I remember the first time i saw this battle i nearly cried!! I was like FINALLY starfleet is kicking some serious ass!!

  • 4:30 the logic thats has been stolen from many films and telivision. Especially Battlestar Galactica(not 2003 but 1979). Bad guys are crap at aiming things.

  • Those Klingons learned the hard way. Don't fuck with the Sisko :D

  • like mel gibson said in south park KAPLAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Note to self: don't fuck with Klingons.

  • wierdo how the durability of the once mighty bird of prey was reduced to a tie fighter in ds9

  • I love the smell of exploding Klingon warships in the morning... ;)

  • Garak: Camper who takes potshots at Klingon N00bs

Kira: Gets wounded early on but takes a Klingon N00b with her

Worf & Jadzia: Slicing up Klingon N00bs like its nothing

Sisko & Odo: Beating up Klingon N00bs with their bare hands!

    ...

O'Brien: Gets beaten up as usual T_T

  • How can one phaser blast detroy a Klingon Bird of Prey? I love DS9 but this is getting daft.

  • @btwujustlostTHEGAME - A space station would have much higher-powered phasers than even a battlecruiser-class warship. They're meant to repel fleets in the Tar Trek world, after all, and this is a station that was retrofitted to repel a Dominion fleet, one of the greatest threats of the time. So it's not unbelievable, but it IS a little silly. In DS9 things were either awesome or getting blown up in one shot. Not much middle ground.

  • @btwujustlostTHEGAME The larger emitters on the habitat ring of the station were taken from planetary defense systems. They most certainly should vaporize a B'rel in one shot.

  • DS9 is BADASS!

  • Sisko was a baws!!!!

  • My God. Those Klingon soldiers must be the worst fighters ever. So slow and not with it.

  • The bitch of it was, Gowron was right. It would've been better in the long run if Sisko had just let the Klingons take over the Cardassians.

  • @williamskidfears Except Gowron was being manipulated by a Changeling himself. The Cardassians were only insult to the injury that would have been the full might of the Dominion's Jem'Hadar legions. And as events proved, the Cardassians weren't so hot for the Dominion's methods anyway.

  • "It's no illusion" Love Captain Sisko.

  • At this point, Martok is already a Changeling, correct?

  • @MrNFL Correct.

  • @MrNFL Yes.

  • @MrNFL Yes.

  • Anyone else get the vibe that the whole dominion war thing is in some based around ww2. The dominion being the Germans cardassians being the Italians etc etc. Some real significance.

  • @fordeboi Its not based around WW2. That's like saying any conflict in a series is based around WW2. It just happens to have a similar number of combatants. And if it was based around WW2, you'd have to label the Federation and the Klingons as British, American or Russian, which wouldn't apply well to them. The series may have pulled ideas of plot lines from ww2, but then again they will have pulled them from everywhere, not just that conflict.

  • @TRUExSIGHTS To be honest I always though tit was more based around the Korean war then WWII. Hence the 1950's Vegas hollo program with Vic Fontaine.

  • @AcomsRazor1776 I can see how you got that yeah. Especially with the Jem'Hadar's attitude to battle and throwing themselves in recklessly (much like the Chinese troops and North Koreans). I think its drawn on elements from most major conflicts during the 1900s, though lets face it, that's almost an obvious answer as what else would have influenced the writers. Just the attitudes of good vs evil alliances essentially remind me of the WW2 viewpoints.

  • Worf had to have thrilled when he saw the opportunity for some hand to hand combat.

  • The thing that always pisses me off about Star Trek is Starfleet must ALWAYS take a Fog Horn Leg Horn spanking before they fire any weapons.

  • 5:25 Worf OWNAGE OF KILINGON WARRIORS?!!!!! LOL

  • Oh yeah, and for this Battle: "PEW PEW PEW PEWPEW P-P-P-PEW" ;)

  • What funny/ironic to note is that the "reason" the Klingons gave for their invasion of Cardassia is that their government had been infiltrated by the Dominon and yet we find out a year later that it's the Klingons who have been inflitrated when General Matrok is exposed as a Changeling.

As for the issue of strength, Klingons maybe stronger than humans or even Bajorans, but they're not unbeatable or invincible. That goes for Cardassians and Romulans as well.

  • Could what Kira did to the klingon even knock a human out? Klingons are twice as strong as humans.

  • @kosstmoran They are but have vital organs in different areas of the body. A solid strike will level a Klingon but not a human or Romulan.

  • @kosstmoran I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. According to her backstory, she's been fighting since she was a little kid.

  • The ironic thing is, if the Klingons had actually taken control of Cardassia, the Alpha Quadrant may very well have been safer. If the Klingons had captured Dukat, or if Garak had shot him in the back as he later lamented NOT doing, Dukat would never have been in a position to negotiate with the Dominion for Cardassia's membership, giving the Dominion the foothold they needed in the Alpha Quadrant to actually wage an effective war against the Federation and Klingons.

  • glingons are black peoples...

  • @PriusRider And who are the "glingons"?

  • god if the DS9 would had quantum torpedoes

  • @tomblord12 If it had quantums and transphasics

  • @tomblord12 By 2376, 3 years after this video (and the start of the Dominion War), DS9 was refitted with quantums. Oh, Gowron, why you didn't wait more 3 years to attack DS9?

  • 4:18 It always looks like those two are just standing there waiting to be shot!!!

  • It seems neither side bothered to raise their shields.

  • exploding control panels, the leading cause of death among star fleet.

  • @labartic Apparently, the panels are made of Incendium. :D

  • @labartic and trauma from violently being shaken.

  • 5:39 Worf thats an old friend of mine.

  • "The Way of The Warrior" is DS9 equivalent to TNG's "The Best of Both Worlds". These stories were epic in every single way and more than sixteen years after it's initial broadcast, it still holds up exceptionally well.

The climatic showdown between the Klingon Armada & the DS9 crew is fantastic. For series television the look, tone, feel and pace is straight out of a big budget action feature. Great special effects during the space battle followed by an intense combat sequence which is riveting

  • @woohooboy The Way of the Warrior was indeed the high point of DS9. Hard to watch it sink and fall to the point of "In the Pale Moonlight".

  • If only they had realized at the time that this is what the Dominion wanted: the major powers of the Alpha Quadrant fighting each other instead of united against an invasion.

  • Sisko : Mr. O'Brien are you alright?

    O'Brien : Ehhh... Yeah.

Sisko : Then get back to work bitch!

  • Does anyone else notice elements of the "Generations" score in the music?

  • @SawdustProductions

Yes, that's because the composer of both, Generations and several DS9 episodes, was Dennis McCarthy and The Way Of The Warrior was produced in the same time period as Generations. McCarthy did also scores for some Enterprise episodes. Not sure about TNG and Voyager, though.

  • @StarTrekMarco Yup, McCarthy also did Encounter at Farpoint. You can detect a small segment of the Q/Enterprise chase in this clip, as the Klingon fleet swoops down after the commerical break. 1:55 abouts.

  • Sisko leaves no ass unkicked.

  • Dukhat and Garak...gotta love how twisted Cardassians can be

  • great fight scenes! except the one at 5:18...come on now, would a Klingon warrior really be that easy to take down? He just grimaces and waits for Kira to smack him!

  • @shagadelic28 they are just lucky DS9 did not have 1940s era US Marines on board...1 Marine with a tommy gun would easily cut down an entire squad, considering how close together they beam down

  • and what's funny is that after this fight... the klingons highly respected sisko after this. i mean funny because i dont remember them holding grudges. sisko fucking tougher than most starfleet captains...

  • damn in the future we are fighting with remotes :D

  • @vladzizka I know thats right! what an episode that was.

  • Miss this show and the Jem'Hadar

  • God I love this show.

  • I'll admit...I was never a huge fan of DS9, but damn! Sisko is a badass!

  • @punisherman1989 doesn't he remind you of hawk from spenser for hire? All he need is a .44 magnum?

  • @762ndTB That is Hawk! Because he claims it!

  • @punisherman1989 Totally--and how badass is Kira?! She pulled a dagger out of her kidney and then proceeded to kick the crap out of the guy who put it there!

  • Phaser IV's hurt. SFB forever!

  • "He said: Today is a good day to die."

Remember this Worf, you will use it soon...

  • Also at this point the Federation had better Shield Technology ,ablative armor more ships , also the empire was using very old ships for the most part and MartoK was a changeling the entire time trying to cause a Federation Klingon war witch would have caused the Death of the Klingon EMpire

  • Also at this point the Federation had better Shield Technology ,ablative armor more ships , also the empire was using very old ships for teh most part and MartoK was a changeling the entire time trying to cause a Federation Klingon war witch would have caused the Death of the Klingon EMpire

  • DS9 was the BEST Star Trek Series ever , the first 2 seasons were Garbage but the Final Season was a Battle ROYAL!!!!!!! Also the Federation had upgraded DS9 to prepare it for a JEM Hadar attack through the wormhole ,

  • That's one badass Klingon flagship

  • 8:30 Gowron is a member of Anonymous.

  • the man has a point. Why are the socalled tough klingons defeated with relative ease?

  • Klingons, came to a shooting with a knive :-)

  • haa sisko say he as the old cat is not as toothless as gowron think if sisko brought the defiant along he would have chew up the klingon fleet like a wild cat haaa

  • Gowron was simply explaining what the Klingons should take when they raid the station. It was "Cashews, cash man, Dez's cat." There was a crew member on DS9 who had stolen Gowron's cat.

  • @fjccommish hi u mean someone literally took gowron cat for himself right ?

  • @Badboy21thekiller Right.

  • foolish guards... why no take cover?!

  • oh good lord a Dreadnaught class O_O

  • Wait what? I'm pretty sure a bathlet slice would not hurt Odo.

Furthermore, a fleet of Klingon ships should have torn DS9 apart with no effort, regardless of how prepared they were. Hmmm.

Main character powers much? never thought I'd see Jobbing in a non-comic book setting.

  • If Klingons are so tough, then why is it so easy for everyone to kick their asses? Star Fleet, Bajorans, Cardassians were all outnumbered in those hand-to-hand confrontations, and all of them kicked the crap out of the Klingons with relative ease. Klingons bark like doberman pinschers but bite like chihuahuas.

  • @BloodofPatriots blame rick berman, he passified klingons and vulcans. Where as in the original series the klingons were alot tougher and vulcans had virtual super strength. I dont know why they did this.

  • @22centman36 I think you're right. If you read between the lines of the interviews of everyone that worked on DS9, especially Ronald D. Moore, it's pretty clear that Berman is a Class A prick.

  • 1 person prefers the sophistic of an interogation chamber :-)

  • 1 person prefers the sophistic of an interogation chamber :-)

  • They fight like Klingons? All they did up to that point was push a few buttons.

  • Captain Sisco is FREEKIN AWESOME!!

  • Sisko: Worf fire torpedos and write on them DON'T FUCK WITH THE SISKO!

  • All's I know is Maj. Kira can throw down in a pinch.

  • Why is Worf only Lieutnant and not lieutnant Commander

  • @maseischafer He is, you need to look closely to see the last pip that shows that rank. The vid is a bit dark and grainy I see.

  • @GuilmonIX oh, thx!

  • @Coeusful That's pretty much what I imagined ...

  • It looks like someone forgot to tell the Klingons they will be boarding... they look wholly unprepared for the beaming.

  • Why didn't he just say....Fire all phasers and photons at will? heh

  • LOL I love how that Vor'cha cruiser to the starboard of the Negh'Var gets whalloped by a phaser strike then blown to hell by a torpedo within a few seconds! Then the Negh'Var gets rattled around!! :-D

  • Where is all the blood?

  • ok, u should realize, while they are engagin the enemy, they will have the support of the space station too. its like 3x the fire power for each ship. dont forget how many ppl are iin ops. what are they doing? tactical, u know, studyin the enemy, locating their weaknesess.

  • @wjohnmca As the Klingon General Chang said in the Klingon Academy: To know your enemy is to DEFEAT him, BEFORE you have faced him. ;)

  • Why did they use the exact same scenes for the torpedo launchers twice.

Is it not strange that the same Klingon ships (that were probably destroyed) flew by twice.

    I thought ds9 had a good budget

  • @Dannyvegas1701 its star trek, there known to be tight bout budgets.

  • Well I guess if your a Klingon, everyday is a good day to die....apparently.

  • 5:18

    Listen to Kira.

    6:25

Odo is only talkind, everyone behind him is dying...

  • 5:18

    Listen to Kira.

  • the dominion lost 40 ships taking the station

  • @Fbueller129 he wasn't.

  • Comment removed

  • @Fbueller129 "fire at will" means open fire on your own. The term covers attacking with your preference like firing range, how many shots you want to do, or you want to snipe or not. It's actually a bit of a word-full.

  • Comment removed

  • @Fbueller129 no it didn't. I just didn't find it that funny.

  • I think if the budget had been higher, Odo would have been using his shapeshifting skills.

  • Those Klingon melee fighters were pathetic! I thought Klingons were supposed to be stronger than humans.

  • @BBPRaven There not pathetic, there fighting trained experienced officers. Klingons fight for personal honour and glory hence and seem to lack discipline which would explain why they get killed a lot.

You can reflect this kind of combat to when the Romans fought the Guals and Britons, disciplined soldiers ultimately won out over an undisciplined horde.

  • Man, you can really tell that Dennis McCarthy was pretty uninspired when writing the music for this episode... it sounds DAMN similar to his work for Star Trek Generations...

  • @GeraldRobotnik Thought the same thing two minutes ago...

  • I love how Worf can take down any other klingon warrior without a problem.

  • Contrary to numerous rumors, no mannequins were used to simulate the fallen in this battle. The Stuntpeople's Association is full of professionals who are VERY good at keeping still once they're "down on the deck."

  • I can give you a translation of Gowron and Martok's dialogue at 3:33...

    MARTOK: They fight like Klingons!

GOWRON: Then they can DIE like Klingons! Tear down their shields! Ready the boarding parties!

MARTOK: As you wish. (pause) ALL SHIPS! TARGET THEIR SHIELDS!

  • @NCTaikoDrumboy Thanks I've always wondered what they said when Martok and Gowron were talking

  • @Lightingwarrior I always thought they were blaming Worf and call him a traitor or something. "That Klingon punk is causing all this trouble" or something like that.

  • @NCTaikoDrumboy

    You've learned the language?

  • @NCTaikoDrumboy thanks for the interpretation. id you actually 'learned' klingon... u need a gf badly; or at least us your skills to learn an ACTUAL language

  • @NCTaikoDrumboy I always wondered what they were talking about. Thanks a bunch for the translation!!! =)

  • @NCTaikoDrumboy Was always conused why they didn't translate it...

  • You'd figure that the Klingons' would be a bit more fierce and bass-ass than this moronic crew...A group of Girl Scouts armed with 22's could have kick the shit out of these wimpy exucses for Klingons. General Chang would not be pleased.

  • I enjoyed this video. However, are their any full videos available to view of this show, Deep Space Nine to watch.

  • My Shields are Holding, Your boarding parties are contained, and MY reinforcements are closer then YOURS!

  • Fire on my mark.. FIRE! >=O

  • lmao..

this episode and general space battle scene rocks. arguably the best space battle in any trek series IMO.

but the fight (hand to hand combat) scenes suck!!!! lol..

First, in an age of firearms, why do Klingons use melee weapons. the whole point of firearms was, and today still is, to more accurately attack somebody without using melee weapons.

and tripping a klingon up kills him? lmao... whatever. gay fight scenes, but a top episode.

  • @coa1979liw I think the Klingons assault team was going to use the melee weapons to fight easily in DS9 small corridors, where is harder to use disruptors. They didn't consider that Bajoran militia had phasers, too.

  • 6? u mean 7 ships cause they did have the defiant

  • the next series of proposed upgrades for DS9 involved the entire station turning into a giant robot... but was abanddoned when it was demonstrated that the transformation would take 3 hours and crush 65% of the crew....

  • @daiklaive hi is it true that ds9 was about to turn into a rebot ?

  • @Badboy21thekiller no, just a joke. some old sci-fi cartoons often had stations and ships and fortresses that could.

  • @Badboy21thekiller o haa icic wa if ds9 really turn into a rebot it ould make the federation look like a gundam

  • awesome boarding party battle...

  • Fucking awesome scene. Worf is the fucking man.

  • @SaltyTestes, only when fighting other Klingons. Have you noticed Worf almost always loses otherwise?

  • What good are 6 Federation starships agianst a fleet of Klingon ships???

  • Not too much. ^^

  • @HMDerek4 6 fresh federation ships against a badly damaged klingon fleet?

  • @HMDerek4 On the contrary, the remaining Klingon ships are damaged and depleting their weapons' energy stores, and those Federation ships are coming in fresh, which gives them an advantage. Derek and Kaigun, you both have been sorely remiss in your study of military tactics.

  • @HMDerek4 Actually, given DS9's firepower, six starships could mean a great deal. Roughly-speaking, the Vor'cha-class attack cruisers are about on par with Excelsior-class starships, while the various classes of Bird of Prey are generally small enough that it would take two or three to match most of the larger classes of Federation ship. The Venture is also a Galaxy-class vessel.

  • @HMDerek4 actually federation ships are a lot more advanced than Klingon ships and the ships that they are using were designed in the late 23rd century while they are in the 24th century.

  • @HMDerek4 Not much indeed. But there's a starbase as well. DS9 can pack some good punch. And I think these ships were just the beginning, the nearest ships.

  • @HMDerek4 its the principle of the thing if they destroy the fleet they will be nothing the federation can do but a full out war and it also shows the federation are serious and wont lay down and take it

  • @Kaigun06 I think the Klingons took heavy damage, and of course they lost a lot of ships. So 6 ships would be a problem for the Klingons. Not to mention DS9 was containing the boarding parties. If they kept fighting they would probably have won, but the losses would have been extreme.

  • klingon fleet heavily damaged six ships including ds9 plus defiant i think these ships would do well

  • @Kaigun06 they might do some good with DS9 essentially bending over whole fleet ;)

  • @Kaigun06

The bigger the battle becomes, the more Federation ships will show up. It would escalate to an all out war and weaken all those involved. The Dominion would come in and take them all.

  • @Kaigun06 I guess they figure with the combined fire power of 6 Fed ships and DS9... Remember the Venture is a Galaxy Class Starship.

  • @Kaigun06 I wondered what good an old Cardassian mining station would be against a fleet of Klingon ships. Turned out that it could deliver quite a beating. I wouldn't underestimate Starfleet.

  • @Kaigun06 If it are battleships. They wont send scoutships.

  • @Kaigun06 Six ships can change the oucome of a battle especailly if they come in from behind or the flank, as in the battle of Grosmont welsh and the english armies both ruffly or near 10,000 each were at a deadlock where both sides fought fiercely, where the battle only turned in the english favour, when 500 men from the local town garrison attack the welsh in their flank, causing the welsh line to break and fall.

  • @Kaigun06 Hence since the majority of the Klingon fleet is battling with the DS9 they are vurnerable to being attack from their flank or behind, where they be caught between two enemy forces, where they line could break and fall apart and even if they did win they would have lost ALOT of ships making it a pyrrhic for the Klingons

  • Comment removed

  • @Kaigun06 True that 6 Federation ships, like an Excellsior or Galaxy class ship isn't a battle hardened ship ready for war, but at the same time, they can do some serious damage to the medium and small ships like the Vor'Chas and the Bird of Prey's. Take into account the station is still under Sisko's command, and still firing. Those 6 starships would be coming out of warp speed, all phaser banks firing red hot, and shooting out torpedos like machine gun bullets, helping to even up the odds....

  • @Kaigun06 I often wondered that also.

  • @Kaigun06 the klingon fleet was heavyly damaged from the fight with the station so they were in bad shape. and would not have lasted very long again'st 6 fully powered and fully armed Federation starships that were sent there to Fight.

  • @Kaigun06 well if they are all Galaxy Class, they could do severe damage to the fleet, especially with the station assisting. They could also send out the Defiant if needed

  • @Kaigun06 Apparently, more than enough to scare the Klingons away :)
